For my compendium issue, even though I cannot access folder security settings which is one step for ""fixing"" it, the images I copied from BotW's defaults (i.e. the ones you get when you buy the entries) show up when I manage to capture something, except it's not the picture I captured but rather the default one which overwrites the one I took. It sounds complicated, yet it's the only way to get compendium entries to show. Another issue is getting the orange box to outline the object since it keeps flickering between outlining an object and not, and the orange box needs to be present to be able to add the entry. One thing I saw was that it could be related to graphics packs, but playing without them defeats the purpose of using Cemu since I want it for screenshots.

Fuck me, all these other fixes for Cemu and yet the compendium and album bug seemed doomed to be forever broken.

I still have to use JPG, but the original quality is too good for that to matter here. So I can compress them just below the 4 MB limit and still have them looking good. Uncompressed for me is around 56 MB with compressed being between 3 and 4 MB (I try and get it just below 4 MB if possible), whereas those jpgs from the Switch are around 146 KB compared to mine being between 3 and 4 MB.

Actually just to clarify, the off shots I took on the Switch actually seemed to range from 141 KB to 500 something KB. Depends how much lightning and how many objects are in the scene. Which still applies to me since it would determine how much to compress the images, not that anyone would notice a difference on here if I were to compare between 100% quality and something slightly less.

I use ReShade along with CEMU but whenever I press printscreen button to take a screenshot I get a black screen. Is there something special what I need to do? Please help.

I actually don't use ReShade. I make do with the high res shadows and contrast graphics pack, with some slight alterations to the latter. I think my game looks good enough already, and I heard of problems arising from using ReShade with Cemu and BotW. Also, if I'm using 5K then I'm thinking adding post-processing effects would slow the game down considerably. If I'm ill-informed though then I can give it another shot, since my computer is pretty good. I just use shift+print screen while Cemu is at fullscreen. Captures it at the full 5K resolution.

The last time I tried BOTW with Reshade I would get crashes taking screenshots sometimes. And there are some weird graphical issues that Reshade brings out when playing BOTW. Annoying as hell.

Okay I'll try shift+prntscreen.

I didn't use the high contrast pack as I want to tweak my own settings and I always use sharpening filter as well.

Only issue is that you can't use all the shaders with CEMU as it messes the way framebuffer is rendered and will cause visual glitches otherwise. Shaders which don't access depth buffer or anything else are fine like vibrance, tonemap and levels and sharpening effects.

But essentially they are doing the same as the 'more contrast' graphics pack. One thing which is always really important for almost any game is sharpening though. It creates so much more visible detail even in BOTW which is kind of flat texture wise. That's what the graphic pack is missing and this is why I have used ReShade.

This also shows how hacky CEMU is. ReShade is very usable even on old vidya from 2000s and it never gives much issues.

I'll post some comparison screenshots later on if I manage to capture them properly.

Yeah I do. It's like weird contour filter instead of blurring the image nicely. It's beacause the way ReShade accesses the framebuffer vs how CEMU has been coded I guess.

Also I can't seem to take fullscreen screenshots with CEMU and Reshade. Saved .bmp files are black and when I paste the image to mspaint it pastes the original frame without reshade applied. But with any other game Reshade works always flawlessly.

Here's comparison from ReShade with sharpening on vs off (with more saturation and contrast in both images). I can still take a screenshot from desktop. It brings out quite a bit of extra detail.

Nah, sharpening does wonders for most games especially low detail console games. Like for instance in Nier Automata I set my sharpening shader to only bring out blacks instead of whites which is usually the norm, and it creates so much detail where there was none before. Without creating tons of aliasing on white edges. And even if you're only subtly sharpening a game it looks loads better in motion. I've got some comparison pictures of PS2 games that you can barely notice a difference in but it still looks much better to me in motion.

I wouldn't mind a bit of extra sharpening here and there. Some textures can seem quite dull and a bit shit (it is a Wii U game after all) that some sharpening could help in a way. Not all textures seem to be like this for me though. Some actually look really nice on a high resolution. I'll have a look and make sure I install it right and whatnot, then I can see for myself, and whether shift+prntscreen works. It should do.

That may be true in some cases, but my case is the result of a side effect of some crash fixes on Cemu which, for whatever reason, cause frequent bloodmoons as of 1.8.1t1. This may or may not be resolved for 1.8.2b, I don't know. I can assure you my game has not been running for a long time.

To the guy that wanted shots of Dinraal, I'll probably get to that tomorrow. I've been trying to get some progress on this run, and I'm close to getting the master sword. Just before I'm ready to head up and pull the sword then take on the trials (again), I'll get some then. I won't forget.

I may or may not lose my sanity doing the trials on master mode again. At least I'm in a more comfortable environment than the first time when I did it 100% handheld on the Switch. It better not fucking crash.

Guys, I tried to play BotW on CEMU, I don't really know how shaders work and the game runs at silky smooth 5 fps
I have an i5 2500K and a GTX960 with 8Gb of RAM

Found your problem. Cemu is more CPU intensive. You are probably going to have to download rivatuner and cheat engine to have it run at 30 fps.

There are a few guides out there that help with your situation, but there are a few things:

- get cemuhook and enable the fenceskip hack
- ensure buffer cache accuracy is set to low
- use a reasonable graphics pack, like one that matches your screen resolution
- if push comes to shove, get cheatengine and enable the speedhack at an appropriate multiplier, while limiting your game to a set framerate with a program like Rivatuner

Actually, you might want to use a lower graphics pack if you must. Also, your CPU and RAM could be the problem. Cemu is CPU intensive. Since you use an Nvidia card then it's RAM intensive too I hear.

Something I noticed today.

With the Barbarian Armor equipped, it takes two hits from the fully power Master Sword to cut off a Guardian Stalker's leg.
That should be a power of 90 since 60 + the 50% increase in attack from the full set.

With the Ancient Armor it takes one hit from an Ancient Spear to cut off a Guardian Stalker's leg.
That's 30 attack + 80% from the set bonus + 20% from damage inflicted upon guardian type enemies for 64.8 attack power.

So why does it take one hit from 64.8 attack to cut off a stalker's leg and two hits from 90 attack?

I think Ancient and Guardian weapons by themselves have a bonus damage attached to them when they hit Guardians in addition to the ancient armor stacking. Have you tried testing out hitting a guardian with a guardian/ancient weapon by itself and matching it's attack value?

That's the 20% I mentioned. Guardian type enemies take 20% more damage from ancient/guardian weapons.

But even with all the bonuses, it still doesn't add up to the total attack power the fully powered Master Sword has with the 50% attack buff from the full set of Barbarian Armor.

30 + 24 (80% ancient proficiency set bonus) + 10.8 (20% increase in damage to guardians).

Buffs stack with set bonus, then food buffs, then enemy weakness.

If I was using a third level attack food buff then it'd be 81 attack, then the 20% enemy weakness for 97.2 damage in total.

So the ancient spear goes from 30 to 97.2 with all of that.

Yeah, the numbers don't add up right. The only answer I can think of is that limb severage calculates more than just damage. Maybe it's based on weapon type. You could try experimenting with only spears or only guardian weapons. It's also possible that Ancient weapons have a stronger buff against guardians than regular guardian weapons.

I'm pretty sure that was the exact inverse of the order you're "supposed" to do it

I say this because there's a clear path from Kakariko to the zora kingdom. From there, there's a really clear path to death mountain and a girl at one of the stables sells fire-proof elixir.

I assumed Gerudo should be last because I found that ganon by far the hardest to beat. He was the only one I died against (multiple times even!) which may have been partly due to less heart-containers but moreso because to beat him you have parry his attack which took me way too long to figure out. The rest of the ganons were all pretty straightforward

Also the zoras all remember you from 100 years ago unlike everyone else (outside of the sheikah) so there's that whole story element

But it's not like it matters, it was purposefully designed so that you could do it in any order. I really enjoyed the order I did it in.

I'm always a fan of sunrises, sunsets and the twilight because I think the lightning in those periods are really nice.

What you can do though is turn on pro HUD, download the pro+ graphics pack to hide your HUD (I'm doing an invisible HUD Master Mode run right now and about to do the trial of the sword, with a pack to also remove the triforce). Then I push the camera against a solid object like a cliff face or crate to remove Link from the picture, unless I want to feature him. I don't know what your specs are, but maybe give the 1440p graphics pack and high res shadows pack a shot. You might be able to get a a sharper, better quality image with less clutter on the screen.

Even when using JPG and having to reduce the quality percentage to between 95-99%, at 5K it makes little difference I think to the untrained eye and I still produce good screenshots. I'd only use 4K and 5K packs with at least 16 GB RAM and a very good CPU. I have 16GB and Cemu takes up like 9GB. Something to do with Nvidia cards. I have a 1080ti. Don't know how it is with AMD.

I think it's about a 50% chance that it's Child, 40% Downfall, and 10% timeline merge. A merge does look like a good solution on paper for all of the factors at play in BotW, but in regards to the rest of the series and taking into consideration the lore gymnastics that it would require to somehow believably put a timeline merge into the canon(all for the sake of clearing up inconsistencies to an already released title), it doesn't seem sensible for Nintendo to go down that path, but I may be wrong.

In regards to the Adult timeline stuff in BotW, Koroks have been said to be that included due to aesthetic preference in some interview, I believe. The design of the Rito is vastly different from WW, and TP HD contains a retconned tablet depicting a past Link interacting with Rito. This may be meant to imply that Rito could exist in other timelines, considering TP HD's proximity to the BotW release, but that's just a guess. Also, Vah Medoh is never stated to be named after Medli in the canon and place names contain references to about every game. Only Naboris and Ruta are stated to be named after someone in game.

To be honest from the general attitude towards this game from the team, I'm sure the reality is that they just didn't put much thought of into timeline placement and that's why there is so much contradictory evidence. The story has always been secondary in this series; even more secondary, I would imagine is the story that spans outside of the games, which would include timeline placement. I think they really just wanted to make a definitive Zelda title, that drew the best from every past title and just reinvented what needed to be reinvented, I think this approach may have bled into the writing so that bits and pieces of other titles are not only in the game design but the lore as well.

But that's just my two cents after autistically lurking a few hundred pages of timeline discussions on other forums.

Now that I'm too pissed off to continue with the trials ever again, maybe I'll spend my run just with the default sword, taking screenshots and draw my waifu Midna spanning the whole map with the hero's path feature if I want to do something else. Maybe I could do some BotW grill too if I get time and if it's possible to do it properly in the first place without looking completely bad, and if the first one turns out alright.

At least I did the trials on the Switch and can always go back to that for reliable gaming. The quality of the picture on the handheld is good enough to play with, but the differences on a 4K monitor and all these high quality graphics packs makes it a different game. I recall me saying that I didn't want to do the trials if there was even a .1% of a crash during a rune use considering the heavy reliance in the trials. I gave it a shot anyway and got an answer pretty quick. Attempting the trials on master mode in Cemu is asking for pain and suffering. It is simply too unreliable for it, but for general gameplay the latest version, and the version soon to be released would be good enough. You just have to make do without the upgraded sword, unless you get lucky and/or you attempt the trials without using cryonis, stasis and magnesis. Good luck with that.

Is it still easy to make money snowling or did any of the updates cut that out? What about farming arrows? I've got over 900 so I shouldn't worry but still curious if you can farm them easily. Also.

Did anyone else sail around endlessly around the south eastern waters in search for a giant octorok Breath of the Wild?

Breath of the Wild remains one of my most favourite games of the franchise. But reading the stone slabs about the giant octorok that attacked Hateno Bay, that Sidon triumphantly stopped. And then going to said waters, and not find a single such octorok. Was probably one of my most disappointing moments in the game for me. Especially after other overworld bosses having set a precedence.

Can't wait to see what Nintendo does next though. I figure things like the above would be relatively easy to improve upon now that they've got the foundation down already.
