Be aware, Thargs are currently grabbing ships out of witchspace and giving out complementary rectal probings, it is advised you shoot the fuck out of them whenever possible, or just go with it if that's your thing, I ain't tellin you how to live. Apparently the Ayylmaos are rumbling again, inquire within if this means goddamned thing or if its just Braben trying to scare up some more money.

Apparently "Sherman is working on a Cutlass variant". Does that mean the Red or Blue? Or another variant that hasn't existed yet?
>>
>>183157046
i think its the blue due to the bubble canopy
>>
>>183157575

Do you know if the Cutlass Blue is an upgrade in just components over the Black? Or is the Blue like the Super Hornet, which has hull capabilities to fit larger power plants, shields, etc. (while also having better components on top of it).

If the Cutlass Black and Blue have the same hull, I have no reason to upgrade my Black, as I can earn my components. But if there are hull differences that prevent a Black from equipping everything a Blue can, I'm getting a Blue.

It's similar to why there's no reason not to go Hornet to Super Hornet, because the SH is a hell of an upgrade, and it has a slot for a bigger powerplant size and a 2nd seat, which the regular Hornet can never upgrade to.

Retard question here, since I'm new.

How does exploring and discovering new systems work in E:D? As in, discovering it for the first time ever, and getting your name on it. How does it work when new systems don't load if you're in supercruise?
>>
>>183158818

no idea sorry, I would err towards it being like the super hornet though
>>
>>183161116
>go to new system
>scan bodies nobody has seen before
>go to some space station
>sell your exploration data
>your name is now on the previously unknown body
what ship and jump range?
>>
>>183161310
I meant, how do you find new systems? That's a thing, right? Or is it just bodies in the systems, while all the systems have already been made discovered?

If it is a thing (new systems being discovered), I don't get how that can happen, when you can't supercruise from one system to another.

I've been using a type-6, with I think a 15 ly jump range, but for exploration (I haven't started it yet, just interested and will absolutely do so later) I'm definitely planning on upgrading to something better, once I have enough money.
>>
>>183161765
Just because a system is known doesn't mean someone has actually been there/scanned it
>>
>>183161765
You just open the galaxy map, set a goal, then plot the longest route possible in that direction. Remember to filter out all non-KGBFOAM class stars so you can fuel scoop every star on the way. The further away from the bubble you are the bigger the chances of finding unexplored systems. I've got my name on several bodies, can't name them though because I don't have the game open
>>
>>183162263
>>183162325
Does this mean that all the systems are known and show up on the map, but it's just that only a fraction of them have actually been explored?
Or, is it that for a new system to become "known" someone had to have dropped into an adjacent system at one time, even though they didn't explore the new system?
>>
>>183162797
open your galaxy map, zoom in on the middle of the galaxy and ask yourself:
"has there really been someone autistic enough to visit all these systems so far away from the bubble?"
theres billions of stars out there, the game will shut down before they're all explored
>>
>>183158818
They haven't said yet and the fuckers probably won't until after the price bump. The current rumor is that the blue and red's special sections will be unremovable, giving them much less total cargo space than the back. So you'd likely get stuck with those useless cells in order to get the stronger max shield...

Or it could turn out like the starfarer gemni, where they just "forget" to give it a drawback.
>>
>>183163109
Don't underestimate autism, anon. I feel like this game, while great, and can be enjoyed by normal humans, is a perfect choice for autists who do nothing but stay home and play.

But thanks, this really cleared things up for me.
>>
>>183162797
To directly answer your question, all systems have been on the galaxy map since the start of the game. There are no hidden stars. Exploration is about discovering what is inside the systems.

Has CIG said how police/other players are going to respond to distress beacons in high-sec systems yet?

I mean, even if the jump distance between two planets is only 60 seconds, that's still a huge amount of time. From the point you get interdicted, to putting up the distress mission, to someone accepting it, and flying their ship to you, it could easily be 2-3 minutes before you get help. Any combat pilot worth his salt will have you fucking dead way before then.
>>
>>183166119
>ship built around a mechanic that's barely been prototyped
>best
>>
>>183177373
Not much. They were looking at if you get jacked before some one comes to your aid a bounty will auto generate on the attacker. For places in "low sec" space they talked about requiring the recovery of a black box to report the crime.

The biggest struggle pirates are going to have is after the kill. CIG is going to require players to EVA and collect the loot/salvage. That could easily take more than 2-3 minutes.
>>
>>183177373
CIG has no idea how interdiction is going to work yet, let alone distress beacons

it's still in the theorycraft stage
>>
>>183178146
>The biggest struggle pirates are going to have is after the kill.
Unfortunately that doesn't help people survive an attack.

I can't see any way you could implement security in high-sec space without police auto-jumping in as soon as a crime is committed, which would be really stupid. Any other way, and you can have pirates/griefers relatively easily operating in high-sec space which would kind of defeat the purpose of highsec
>>
>>183178317
Chris wants it to be like real life

There's nothing stopping you, but if you do something bad in "high'sec", there will be consequences.
>>
>>183178771
I get that and I'm saying the consequences are inconsequential.
>>
>>183178951
>not being able to dock anywhere is UEE space and having player bounty hunters on your ass

>>
>>183178317
>I can't see any way you could implement security in high-sec space

The current plan is to have wanted people light up on scanners in highsec. To counter this wanted people will need to spoof there ship ID and use fake credentials. but that will only get them so far and once they blow there cover they will need to buy all new IDs off the black market.

How viable is a PvP cutter?
What guns should I stick on it?
>>
>>183178317
>>183178771
The police force size and response time should be higher in highsec space.
>>
>>183180628
Anything is viable for PvP... define what kind of PvP. Seal-clubbing, random ganks, organized PvP?
Guns are preference, but you can never go wrong with MCs.

Because otherwise the game would feel like an empty grindy piece of shit.
>>
>>183179228
I guess that's fair, but I don't think it'll really stop most people.

>>183180951
It's physically impossible for police to respond faster than a certain timeframe, which is what I was talking about earlier. Unless CIG just makes it really gamey and police magically autojump in.
>>
>>183181129
Physically impossible nowadays maybe. In 2946 what would stop the police from having carrier patrols all over highsec waiting to deploy?
>>
>>183181046
General purpose PvP with a friend/pirating.
I was more wondering about the PvP meta in weapons.
>>
>>183181263
Because it literally takes time to get the distress signal, get in a ship, spool up your QD, travel, and cool down, and we know that, while QD times intra-system won't be huge, they won't be insignificant.
>>
>>183178317
>Unfortunately that doesn't help people survive an attack.

Stop overrating of your piloting-skill, it won't be like Arena Commander.
In 2 minutes you'll have to reach your target because the interdiction may not be precise, everybody who pass by will be stopped by it (as last discussed) then you need to know if your target isn't better equipped and skilled than you.
You won't drop a shield in less than a minute unless you are ganking paurora with a star destroyer.
And what would you loot?

As >>183178146 said the Pirate need to gather the loots and shake off pursuit. Debris offer less loot, only salvage, if you can.
3 minutes is still far too short to board a ship and if you kill people while in the vicinity of UEE scan probes you'll get bounty on your head.

And once are a criminal, the only way to do piracy is to either destroy the Probes scan or fly in a new ship each time, or have incredible stealth that cut into your weaponry.

>>183178951
>I get that and I'm saying the consequences are inconsequential.
This guy >>183179228 answered you, but I'll add that CR love Pirate, by that he means he want them to be rare legend because PVP is the hardest things.
You'll only get easy piracy in low-sec null-sec system and if you want any loot you'll have to attack cargo ship with big shield.

You should seat down, you've been told a lot

Unless you want to grind powerplay for modules and engineers for upgrades, I wouldn't worry too much. The PvP meta is so fucked up and it's pretty much RNG like the rest of the game. You could find a newb with fuck all, you could find a murderhobo with some perfect fit. Just focus on flying skill and base your weapon selection around how you fly. If you are good, go with fixed weapons for max damage/no lock-break from chaff. Gimbals if you aren't confident in your ability to aim and fly. Turrets for multicrew (if someone can redpill me on turrets actually that would be dank).
>>

Turrets are shit.
>>
>>183186395
*In their current state, but it has been repeatedly said they being rebuilt functionally right now. Chris want ships to have manned turrets and he want turret gunners to be a thing, so I think its safe to assume that they will eventually be a viable choice, Chris's Autism is the final say in this game.
I for one really look forward to manned turrets getting buffed to the point of rivaling a small fighter in firepower, because that's what needs to happen for them to compete.

Pulse lasers and autocannons is fine.
Do you have engineers that can mod them unlocked?
Do those quests and collect the materials, you can get efficient or long range lasers and overcharged cannons. Your weapons will do 30-40% more damage for the small downside of more mass and power use. Also a change for cool bonus effects like incendiary rounds which makes bullets do thermal damage to shields or corrosive rounds which have debuff that makes hulls take 25% more damage from all sources.

I actually just got some extra money to get Horizons, so I've not unlocked anything in the way of engineers, just saw my first one in fact.

I'm just trying to find something that has a nice balance of damage over time and burst damage, the idea being that I can deal out damage while I get close, then get some high damage in before the enemy gets out of my sight thanks to the Python's poor pitch speed. It's because of that bad tracking, which hopefully I'll be able to get better at compensating for, that leads me to believe that something that doesn't fully rely of eyes on target is the best way to do things.

>>
>>183210143
Those arguments are all dumb. The simple fact of the matter is that CIG needs money if they're going to continue operations. If they let everyone have all the ships during alpha, very few people would buy ships. You might not like it, but that's reality.
>>
>>183210143
But none of those things, for the game, make sense.
How is allowing anyone to try out any ship, or even just a rotation of ships, not a net gain? You now have more testers for those ships, you have free hands on advertising for people to buy those ships. The only real loss is if your plan was to have those ships just be terrible, and sell them off without people being able to try them out first.

If I get access to all ships in alpha, and you can't buy ships directly with money after release, then I'm not going to buy a ship. I'm just going to procrastinate on it because why spend money now when I'm already flying the ship? That's psychology.

>>183210619
I literally said its not fair. But CIG's gotta make money somehow. I don't disagree with you that it would be better for testing, but realistically how much testing do individual ships need?

I mean, missing an internal deadline IS a delay. By definition. That infographic is negative about everything but it isn't wrong. Shits taken too long and slipped multiple times. What really boils my piss is that its going to be a meaningless release anyway. I won't be playing it, because 15fps isn't playable and they removed what little networking improvements they scheduled for it.
>>
>>183214536
>I mean, missing an internal deadline IS a delay. By definition.
I guess, but its categorically different from saying "this is coming out on this date for sure" and then changing the date.

>they removed what little networking improvements they scheduled for it.
We're getting several network improvements in 3.0. Yeah, bind culling and object container streaming got pushed out, and admittedly they were the most significant features, but to say we're getting none at all isn't correct.
>>
Anyone else upset with the ship design?

I get the mentality of forward facing turrets for small fighters, but fornakythingnlarger?

Anyone seen a modern corvette or smaller gunship with guns that could only face forward?
This is not how 2D or 3D combat works. It is also ridiculously stupid that manning anturretnputs you INSIDE the goddamned turret rather that providing a camera view.

>>
>>183217095
I used to play it on a GTX 760. The requirements really aren't that bad.

The problem right now is framerates in the online modes due to missing network features. We're getting a couple network improvements in 3.0 (which is hopefully coming out in a few weeks), which might improve framerates a bit, but probably won't do anything significant. The main features that will improve network performance are coming in 3.1.

On the topic of whether or not it's a game, kind of? 2.6.3 has several missions you can play. Arena Commander is fun as an arcade mode in and of itself if you like the dogfighting, and they recently added things like health and ammo pickups to make it work better as an arcade experience. Star Marine, the FPS component, is serviceable, I guess. There's more features coming in 3.0, like the stamina system, that will make it a little less COD-like, which is great.

3.0 is going to add a dynamic mission system with a couple moons to land on, and the first iteration of their cargo hauling system.

Lmao, the ship design in general is completely retarded especially on the larger ships.

Manned turrets, even with perfect placement, have abysmal hit ratios and the placement on most of the ships is far from perfect.

All of the larger ships have the bridge/command centre completely exposed to incoming fire instead of buried in the middle of the ship.

Weapons mounted on the wings of fighters far away from the center line so they can be easily shot off and have retarded zeroing and convergence.

Tbh though its the manned turrets that bothers me the most, outside of massive formations which rely on weight of fire to score hits/drive off attacking aircraft they are completely useless and were abandoned for a reason.

network is severely limiting gameplay at this point
we're still running on stock cryengine netcode designed for a 24 player FPS match on a small map that ends and resets every 10 min

you can run the game on 2gb VRAM and a cpu from 4 years ago

2.63 has maybe 2-3 hours of unique mission gameplay and if you're really into it from that point on you can find other ways to dick around in the mmo part of the game. you can spend a few hours in the dogfighting or fps only modes as well.

it's at least something but 3.0 is the first time anyone in their right mind is going to tell you it's getting anywhere near being a proper alpha of what the final product is going to be. most of the core gameplay features will be there, the tools to make further content will be there, and after that the only thing to do is add gameplay for the job-specific ships, and expand the actual game space for content. on paper, 3.0 thru 4.0's goals should be faster for them to pump out than everything up until 3.0. we're at the mercy of chris roberts on that part if he wants to keep adding massive gameplay features to those goals

A properly executed silent running approach is more reliably repeatable with lower risk. You fuck up a high speed approach and you can impact the station or end up tangled in the toast rack outside the airlock. If you hit the station you're either dead or tumbling in place begging to be scanned. not sure if it's even that im a procrastinator, i'm just a master of escapism and immersion in whatever hobby i'm currently occupied with that real life and all of it's issues are removed from my mind until something serious happens i have no choice but to face that reality. i have no real issues doing work and i am extremely focused on work when im there. if someone put my a college sign-up office talking to a person i'd probably leave that day signed up for college, but waking up and breaking that routine to go start something new without being forced to is impossible for me

that and i think i'm probably alot more depressed than i think i am at this point and my brain is running on some kind of subroutine that automatically blocks out as much longterm stress as possible.

in a good hour like 5 mil or so? Right now there aren't many missions at either station. I know this tends to raise a shitstorm on both sides, but I've put over 200 hours into the game, I think the income rate is absurdly low. I understand the desire for it to be a thing that takes some commitment to work, but the money you make from standard tasks like rat hunting, exploring, or trading is dismal.

Even when you throw in community events you hit with this damned wall.

Honestly I'm really worried that it's taken them so long to start evocati with this patch. Yeah, I expected them to push back the release for a gamescom release, but I also expected them to do a long evocati phase, since the patch is so huge.

With the delta patcher, it would be simple to give the evocati a very unfinished build and just patch in fixes daily. The fact that they haven't done this makes me think that the delta patch isn't nearly as far along as they suggest, which would be irritating as shit.

>Agreed. I'm hoping that CIG have learned to hold off announcing stuff that they can afford to keep quiet about, so that they build up a stock of stuff they can announce / drop in as a surprise.
And this is why reddit is going to kill this project.

Projects like this need a publisher, and with SC the community is supposed to be a collective publisher. But instead of collectively enforcing standards, they collectively suck Chris Roberts' cock, regardless of what CIG does.
>>
>>183279706
yeah, ofcourse they have alot of content ready to roll that isnt worth putting in the game yet

they can't just slap a flight ready javelin into the game all of a sudden, sure as fuck not until netcode happens, and sure as fuck not in 3.0's size of space with 24 players, without AI crew
>implying they won't refund all cap ships when they can't figure out how to get the game running stable at more than 50 players

>>183280364
Unfortunately most people in SC community are not willing, or able, to stop funding for the project, either because they've already spent what they were willing to spend (like me with my $35 buy in) or because they've already drank the kool-aid.

It is hard to keep a company accountable when the main thing that would keep them that way is already in their hands.

CIG is very concerned about how they look to the community itself. The few times there has actually been community outcry about something, they've changed it.

But by and large, reddit/spectrum have convinced themselves that CIG's shit can't stink.
>>
>>183280810
CIG still goes behind their backs and does what they want constantly, theyre very aware of what the community wants and thinks but theyre at the point where they don't need to do as the community asks to get a positive response out of doing whatever the fuck they want anyway. there is very little community influence into actual development on anything important. we'd have an unfinished gamescom 2016 demo version of 3.0 right now with a shitty unplayable SQ42 demo and PVP sliders already if that were the case.

they could delay til december and 90% of the community would support them fully
>>
>>183281485
To be honest, I wouldn't listen to the SC community either. You can only hear retards scream about struts and pvp sliders so much before saying fuck it.

The way their PR is handled is awful, but the actual game seems to be advancing just fine. If they can finally resolve their fps/network issues it's pretty much in the bag.

>they are always on my tail
How agile is your ship? Compare here:
https://coriolis.edcd.io/

When turning, change speed so that it's to the centre of the blue zone by the speed gauge. That optimises your speed for turning. You should've learned that in combat training.

You can also divert power to engines for slightly tighter turning, but in combat you really want all power to weapons (or shields if you've been hit and there's a break in fighting).

To find and align to a hostile ship, find the red blob on your radar, turn so it lines up to the horizontal centre of the radar screen, then pitch (turn up or downwards) until it has no tail and it should be in front of you. Having it target locked will make it easier to see and reveal things like it's distance from you.

I've only started playing myself, would love to see more combat tips. My Type-7 keeps getting wrecked by pirates while I'm carrying full cargo of Imperial Slaves. Lost 6m+ credits first time that happened. Equipped shields, weapons etc., sacrificing 50 cargo slots for a little combat readiness, but the ship has no turning circle, couldn't align with the pirate ship at all and ended up stopping and jettisoning 30k credits of cargo. Better than getting fucked up but felt bad about letting him get away.

Gamestar I think it is? A german magazine that did a tour of Foundry 42 and interviewed Chris.

I mean, it makes sense. They're going to have the game's mechanics done far before they could feasibly finish 100 systems. Would you rather they finish the mechanics, wipe the game, then do another wipe 10 years down the line when they finish all the systems? Or would you rather they just finish the mechanics and "release" the game?

MMOs need to wipe in the beta too if someone breaks the economy. Going to UEC is when the wipes end and there is no guarantee the beta will coincide with that directly.
>>
>>183322003
>I didn't see anywhere they mentioned server wipes. Did you infer that part?
That's what "release" means. You can buy the game and play the alpha right now. They only thing that really separates the release from the alpha is when they stop doing wipes. They're still going to be fixing bugs and adding systems after release.

I'm not taking the article that literally without confirmation. You are probably on the right track, but when you can't trust anything the main director says, it has to be recent and in writing from CIG. Across the whole company, people just saying whatever doesn't mean anything to CIG. Mining was definitely confirmed for 3.0 then they went back on it with no explanation.

Sure, I'm just saying that "release" is pretty arbitrary, and I'm glad they're stopping wipes and "releasing" the game sooner rather than later, if it's true. Since they added fully-explorable planets, 100 systems is a ridiculous amount of surface area, even if most of the bodies in those systems might be relatively barren moons.

I thought the idea was that your character had a certain number of deaths, and then your stuff got sent off to your relative, who you could design, or just looked a lot like the old model?

I'm pretty sure I recall that their idea of who the "character" you played in the game was more your ship, than the person.
>>
>>183336981
Well, sort of. It's also based on the quality of medical care you receive and the extent of your injuries.

They've said that they want you to care more about your ship, than upgrading your ship. Basically, new ships are going to be REALLY expensive, shit you'd have to save up for just like you save up for a car IRL. They don't want to have you just strictly upgrading ships because ships are more balanced around roles. They want you to upgrade components to improve your ship, and so you wind up getting attache to the ship itself.

That's not to say they don't want you to give a shit about your character itself though. I know I don't plan on dying enough to have to roll a new character.

Hey /vg/. I've heard about E:D, and I'm somewhat interested.

I've played a bit of EvE Online, and while it was interesting for a bit I don't like a few things about it. Namely, the continual subscription cost of ongoing play, and also the forced PvP aspect. I'm interested in E:D because I enjoy the idea of, if I get fed up with people, being able to simply go into solo mode with nobody else around, and then go back into PvP open mode when I want.
As for Star Citizen, I don't know much about the game at all.

I'm doing some looking into E:D and probably SC, do you guys know any LPers or things where I can get a good sample of the gameplay of those games? Or even better, is there a free trial mode in either of those games?

If there's anyone familiar with EvE that plays either of these games and can compare the gameplay, I'd value your thoughts on the subject. Is there enough PvE content for me to enjoy the game?
>>
I bought Star citizen a long time ago, what do you do in it? why should i buy buggy? like am i gonna go from space trucking to normal trucking like in ED? Cause if so i rather pay for a season pass on ed than a kike model 1/1000 now only 50 USD!!
>>
>>183359197
if you want a game to play longterm right now just play ED

until it's finished SC is just going to be an increasingly large sandbox where you're given the tools to make a gun game for yourself (ships/bikes/locations/guns)

even when there's fully fleshed out missions and NPC population it's mostly going to be whatever kind of game you want to make out of it.

trucking is gonna be more hands-on with actual cargo boxes in your ship and less [buy x invisible cargo] [deliver x invisible cargo] [recieve a number value of space credits]

>>
>>183380138
Speaking of fidelity, I kind of hope they build out a basic procedural tree/foliage system. It can't be that hard. You just need a few trunk variants and some branch variants.

With full planets, they're really going to need it. You can get away with fewer types of rocks, since they're basically just blobs, and you can orient them with three degrees of freedom to mix things up and make them look different.

But trees are a much more complex shape with recognizable features. And you only have one degree of freedom for orientation. Seeing the same tree a bunch of times is gonna kill FIDELITY.

We don't live in the age where space travel is possible for everyone who can afford it, neither are we military space pilots who should be used to planets with different gravity and their effects. For them it should be a routine thing, just like 0g is for people on space station.

Not to mention, flailing like that can cause injuries on landing. Good luck dragging your broken leg ass back to ship after a botched landing.

Couple of reasons. The Boomslang was a much nicer looking ship, though that's fairly subjective. Theres also questions around exactly what role it will fill. Is it an attack gunship, is it for moving in troops? No one's really clarified. Also it's sat there un-updated for years which makes it an unattractive, expensive hangar flair.

I'm guessing you will have to scan/link to the black box which will give you information on the wreck's insurance.

Full coverage:
Illegal to salvage as it is technically property of it's insurer, but maybe you can contact the insurance provider and retrieve the hull on commission.
Partial coverage:
Still illegal for the same reason, but if you're hauling it back there's no reason not to strip out all uninsured components and or cargo as a nice bonus.
No coverage:
Dig in, nobody's coming for it.

So i obviously have Star Citizen and enjoy what we have so far. I just bought a oculus rift because of the sale and am wondering, since E:D seems to have good VR support, if this would be a good purchase to acompany the rift.

What is E:D except for space trucker. i have seen some people exploring and fighting capital ships but the planets look worse than spore tier
>>

>What is E:D except for space trucker.
it is basically a multiplayer sandbox game. You'll have to find your own kind of fun in it, mostly. There's missions to assassinate npcs, kill pirates, move goods, relay info, scan stuff so on, but that's pretty much just for money.

Your best bet if you got it, is to find a group, or make some friends with people, so you can fuck off with them and do stupid shit, or try to ruin other people's shit.

That's true. I still find it odd the ship HUDs are rarely mentioned, and I imagine so much game time is gonna be spent staring at them. I suppose it relies on many game mechanics that haven't been implemented yet, but I'm still interested in what they do with them because it seems so fundamental to the game experience.

The HUDs are supposed to look a lot better after the 2.0 conversion, so they might be a lot better if 3.0 ever fucking comes out.

Have you seen what they did to the Gladius cockpit for 3.0? They moved the MFDs out of the players field of view "so they can look at the main gun". Visuals clearly comes before usability in their HUD design. Hiring Zane was a mistake. Yes, he made cool looking Iron Man HUDs for the movie, but he can't do functionality.

So let me get this shit straight.

As of today, they probably have AT LEAST two weeks until 3.0 even hits Evocati, according to this guy. So let's be generous and say that exactly two weeks from now, Evocati get the patch. That's August 4th.

Now, 3.0 is surely going to have a long testing period, because they're already barely done with this shit. So tack on another two weeks before it goes to PTU. That means it'll be going to PTU on August 18th.

Gamescom starts on the fucking 23th. There's no way they're going to get this thing out the door without it being a hot buggy mess.

That's not what he said at all. They know what features they're including, but that's not the issue here. They're spending the time to make sure none of the files required are missing, and none of the files that aren't needed are in the patch.

Building a release branch off of master is a very time-consuming process.

>>183416404
The "inclusion/exclusion" process isn't about knowing what features they're going to include in the patch. It's about pulling specific files out of the master branch and building a release branch, which could easily take several weeks. Try educating yourself before you spout uninformed garbage out of your mouth.
>>
>>183416278
Depending on how the missiles are mounted you might not even be able to lock Dragonflies properly. They're tilted upwards and missiles only have a limited locking angle.

Just trying to understand where his endless faith in CIG comes from. I want something more than "it could take that long" without anything further.

Why didn't they start weeks ago to align the schedules better?

Why does the evocati window start today when there is around two weeks of preceeding work?

Why are the other dates unchanged even though they are telling us they can't start for another couple weeks?

Go lurk reddit and see for yourself what the effect is. Count the replys and upvotes from people freaking out that the dates are the same, thinking that they will release in that window. This shit is misleading at best and dishonest at worst.
>>183421481
>Where do you think we are?
The only place to have anything resembling a critical discussion of this game and its devs. Backers shouldn't have to put up with having the game withheld to produce more hype later. CIG would have us believe that end of June was realistic when the schedule released, now they are telling us they are delaying 2 more weeks, but not changing any dates. That is dissonant as fuck and imo, people should be raising a shitstorm over it so CIG has to reply and explain themselves.
>>

Then don't keep up with the game development. I did that shit for the entirety of last year and I honestly should have this year too.

>>
>>183422096
Alright, I lied, I'll bite even though you didn't directly reply to me.

>his endless faith in CIG
I don't have an endless faith in CIG. I'm one of the people complaining about the dates on the schedule report right now. You're absolutely right that there's no way they could have evocati today if they only started building the release branch today. But I never argued with you on that point. What I did argue against was that they were lying about building the patch taking weeks. That's just not true. It can and will take several weeks to put a patch this big together. They're not lying about that.

>I want something more than "it could take that long" without anything further.
I mean, there's not much else to say about it. There are thousands of files to go through, and they have to test each release candidate for bugs or other issues related to missing assets or missing code. It's not a complicated process, it just takes a long-standing time.

>Why didn't they start weeks ago to align the schedules better?
Ideally you'd do a feature freeze, and then start building your release branch. CIG is pushing it as it is, so they don't have that luxury. They're always going to have the problem where more features they want in 3.0 are being completed, so it was probably just decided that they can't put it off anymore.

>Why does the evocati window start today when there is around two weeks of preceeding work?
>Why are the other dates unchanged even though they are telling us they can't start for another couple weeks?
Good questions, but I'm not interested in arguing about them, and I'm not going to tell you you're wrong if you think the answer is "gamescom hype".

>>183422096
>>183423306

>Backers shouldn't have to put up with having the game withheld to produce more hype later.
I agree but honestly I think the opposite is happening. As usual, CIG grossly over promised for 3.0, and now they're scrambling to get just a little more done before gamescom so they don't look like fucking idiots.

>CIG would have us believe that end of June was realistic when the schedule released
To be fair,. It's really hard to predict this kind of thing even just a few weeks out.
>>
>>183423306
>>183423943
Fair enough. I have nothing else to say about the schedule. I can't prove anything definitively, it's just conjecture. Really, really convenient conjecture that fits a narrative of a company that is a lot less interested in making the bdsse, but dragging this project out under the guise of quality when overpromising and under delivering has been the norm.

Whatever dude you are making a huge mistake. You are literally just making a breeding ground for tripfags and goons.
>>
>>183429294
it's half the price of the other variants, the aurora ES is a "build your own" aurora. you buy the base hull and spend the spare $20 on VD weapons to build it how you "want" it

>>183429417
>The Aurora Essential is the cheapest Aurora model. It has only a TR2 engine, unlike the other models. Its basic shield and no pre-installed equipment in the hardpoints make it an affordable ship for basic exploration

cool story bro

this image was funny like three years ago. your obsession is getting a little unsettling now.

That's not the same. I only want it if its an upgrade to something else. A $0 CCU from a Merlin is a possibility, I'm just trying to figure out how it is an upgrade.

Because ofc they have time for a trailer. Never let the game get in the way of the marketing. Bet this was done on time.
>>
>>183431021
Yea it must have taken weeks to compile month old footage into a simply edited trailer.

I'm sure splicing together random segments from the past couple of ATVs took them weeks.

CIG is delay after delay after delay and then to show progress on their work, they don't even show gameplay, just prerendered cut scenes and a few frames of the Cutlass gameplay they already showed.

Good use of resources CIG. Just remodel the fucking office next or add it to the list of other useless shit no one asked for.
