Does Glen Canyon Dam exist in the Fallout universe, and if it does, is it still running, or destroyed? It's not as iconic as Hoover of course but it's a massive facility too. I think it was probably fucked up and a lot of Lake Powell was drained. Probably a lot of Legion there to control trade up and down the Colorado.

One of the mechanics I missed in fo3/4 in New Vegas was the Vault-Tec Bobbleheads. I felt like implants were lazily done and should have been limited to the armor and regen.

If you could be Obsidian, and do it all over again, where would you put the S.P.E.C.I.A.L Bobbleheads and what would they say?

LCK-lukcy 38 cocktail lounge-something about going from a grave to the highest point in Vegas

AGI-Deathclaw promotory-something about how taking/giving hits doesnt matter against deathclaws and how its not getting hit

INT-Camp Searchlight-INT is taking calculated risks. Also bringing radaway

PER- should ideally be close to spawn but off the beaten path, maybe lone wolf radio?

AFAIK, it's the shadow resolution and shadow draw distance that is messing up the FPS. The TAA is generally ok (I usually just turn them off), and some people mention weapon debris (even though I dont see much difference).

Also godrays, but i think there's a mod to optimize/turn it off completely, so it shouldn't be an issue.

No, I'm not talking optimization, I'm talking about frame pacing. Games on consoles have this issue sometimes, Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne are very known for that. Poor frame pacing makes 30FPS look much lower than it actually is because some frames get rendered twice.

Usually end up doing an independent run with the "best" outcome. Good karma, good standing with factions. Lotta repair, guns, speech, and lockpick. Almost always end up hunting for every unique, run with NCR until the proper faction split at Vegas. I stick with sniper rifles, usually.

I don't even really mind using similar skills, just interesting twists on it or at the very least.

It's by no means mandatory. All you need to do is make a bed a water pump and maybe get a few crops on the go. You can get more than enough food by just killing animals even. Settlement building is definitely not central to the game in any way.

It really is worth playing if you liked FO3.

I personally go to fallout games because i love getting immersed in a world to explore, and admittedly that's probably the one thing that isn't as good in NV. The world is still decent, but its got a lot more invisible walls and doesnt manage to match FO3's 'oh, i saw something on the horizon! lets go there! oh, i found all this shit!'.

There are more empty spots and bits of wilderness in the game that in FO3 would have hidden something to explore, even if it was small.

But that minor bugbear is palatable enough when taken overall, because its clear that Obsidian can actually write and do it well, and as much as I find the world less interesting the actual characters and stories within certainly are more interesting. Quests actually branch and give you choices, companions have stories and the world feels a lot more 'alive' - at least as much as a world built in that engine can.

Basically, FO3 is my favourite of the two, but NV is the obviously better game for building on it, and you owe it to yourself to play one if you loved the other.

they make you the leader of the faction (right away too), but recognize that realistically people wouldn't know (You), the new guy, right away. but they do recognize Preston, a known Minuteman who's been roaming the wastes for the past few weeks after the quincy massacre.
honestly them making you the leader and then having you do menial work actually works logically this time around, as the Minutemen are a faction for the player to rebuild. but the fact that they didn't add settler dialogue of them recognizing you and thanking you specifically as general (at least after the few initial quests) was no doubt a failure, or at least an oversight.

Maybe it would have been better if each of the factions in FO4 would be uniquely designed around certain gameplay.

Like, let the Minuteman be the Autism Faction where people can build their little houses and move their little tinsoldiers across the map and shout at the other kids from their little sandcastle.

Let the RR be the Stealtharcher Faction where it's more about spending the majority of game squatting and sniping with the occasional Charisma check.

Let the BOS be the shootin' lootin' tootin Faction for the brainlets.

And considering the 'Tute is supposed to be the mid- endgame faction maybe let each of the Division fill one of those roles for any player, like let the SRB give out mainly missions for the people who only care about shooting stuff while another division mainly gives out missions that require a certain level of INT or CHA.

On the other hand people would probably have cried that they can't properly play their BOS Paladin as a glasscannon stealtharcher.

I would have liked each faction to be somewhat workable to everyone, depending on who you do jobs for in the faction they reflect that either with more of a troop presence with patrols, or more resources available at your settlements or the main base of the faction.

I tried playing with Curie, I like the character but using human companions as mules is annoying. I'm sure there is a mod that prevents you from taking gear they are wearing but i found that aspect very annoying. That and it severely reduces their usefulness as mules.

Ada can carry a truck and still put out the hurt.

As for the morale system it's the only thing I dislike about Ada. As a robot, it would be unlikely for her to have opinions about anything. they can't have another robot become sentient in the same game. Right? I mean, that would just be hack writing. We all know Bethesda is better than that.
