No, you just thought more characters were viable. Valkyrie, lawbringer, Kensei and Berserker were even worse than they are now. Raider was actually low tier.

The top used to be Conqueror (who was even back then, just a worse version of Warlord), Warlord, Peacekeeper and Shugoki. You could argue that's one more character than now, but when it's because of Oni Charge and completely unpunishable shield bash, that's a pretty stupid argument to make.

It's as hard as parrying or deflecting, probably harder but you can do it, his damage isn't free.

Like I said it's about resisting the urge to dodge on reflex and wait for the very last moment to act, I'm not gonna lie, I've been hit with heavies this way myself many times, but if you're very patient and ignore relflexes you can do it 100% it's just like I said, really fucking difficult.
Once you've seen it enough you'll know his heavy startup animation from his light instantly.
If you have a friend with patience get them to practise with you, just ask them to shove and mix up their follow ups.

As a law main myself, the laws that only shove on block are really easy to fight, mostly because they're braindead and never parry.

I can just heavy attack them and hit them with a follow up light, they always shove after the heavy and the light always connects. For some reason this light staggers them, bypassing the super armor even though you still get shoved, so they can't follow up.
The vast majority never figure out that they should wait to shove on the light attack or better yet parry it, they just mindlessly shove while getting chipped to death.
It's not exactly what I'd call fun, but it's a solution to fighting the retarded ones.

This is fucking true. Playing on console is a fucking nightmare. If you can even get a match to the end (which is pretty much 1 in 10), you can't block any lights from Nob, PK, Roach, or Zerk. You the game is so unresponsive that in gank situation you literally have no tools because you can't see what's happening. Also 90% of the player base is 10-15 year old shitters that don't know how to do anything. Console version makes PC seem well functioning and acceptable.
