Dominion suuuuuuure is fuuuuuuuuunnnnnn

Gladiator and Centurion strike me as weirdly overlapping. Centurion, as much as I love his personality, doesn't act how a professional officer in the military should act. He's boisterous, taunting, and a showman. Realistically he should be cruel but fast in his executions, like Precision Cut, instead of taking his time and enjoying it. With how Centurion acts, I have to wonder how Gladiator will act, assuming Gladiator is actually the next hero. It'll be very odd to have TWO Roman-themed, boisterous, showboating characters.

They've already used the "thumbs up/down" and "greeting the crowd" executions, so I'm wondering what exactly they have to work with for a Gladiator theme. Maybe we're all wrong, and Gladiator was scrapped and morphed into Centurion some time during development?

What would really save this game would be a crossover with another fighting game franchise. I think most of the characters from DOA or maybe Smash Melee would fit great with the style and translate well to 3rd-person mechanics.

DOA characters would be an easy fit due to the combat systems in DOA and FH both being very similar to rock/paper/scissors and for the most part very scripted.

I can almost understand why his combo top heavies are slower than his combo side heavies (as a mix up tool to throw off your opponent's parry timings) but it doesn't make sense to make a follow up attack both slower and weaker when it is a part of a chain, especially when the alternative (heavy into 500ms heavy) has more mix up potential, is faster, and deals 2x as much damage. I would love to just sit down and ask some of the devs about their reasoning behind a lot of the shit in this game.

Looking at the damage/speed values for chained attacks, this would appear to be the case, also looking at how chains are designed in the first place. Ubisoft seem to be under the impression (rightfully, judging by a lot of people I run into) that your average player has trouble reacting to 600ms lights, guard breaks, and general attacks. I don't think they ever thought people would get to the point where they can parry every single light attack with ease.

At some point, if this game survives 2017, the devs will have to split the development between the PC and console versions. Changes that make sense on 30 FPS systems using controllers do not make any sense on 60 FPS computers using a customisable mouse and keyboard. Raw guard breaks, which were at least semi-useful in beta and release, are absolutely worthless as a tool now. Presumably this is because at 30FPS the old ones were too hard to counter, which is totally reasonable all things considered.

For Honor isn't meant to be a competitive game, and Ubisoft fucked up by putting ANY weight in it as a competitive game. The way to save For Honor is to completely revamp the entire server system because it's more or less unusable at the moment. Yesterday I had three disconnects/crashed lobbies in a row, then just gave up playing Dominion for the night. If they fixed that, the game would actually be consistently playable, which it isn't at the moment. Focusing more on making For Honor laid back fun instead of trying to make it into a SERIOUS FIGHTING GAME would be a good step to follow with.
