It's a bit better than BC. iirc he didn't recieve any demerits from his wounds until he achieves his goal or gives up, which given that he's a Berserker giving up seems unlikely and given that it's not a curse on the opponent it can't be lucked away. If you have the mana, his NP will absolutely win the fight. Attempt to cut off his arm, and while your blade would slash through his arm it wouldn't come off until his NP "ends"

For the Gazer fight you should bring a Lancer even if it doesn't give bonuses and use the first two waves to get his NP ready to one shot the boss (or at least to do as much as damage as you can, heard he's annoying). I'm using this comp to get some NP% in the first wave, then use Drake to clear the second one so I don't take too much damage from the Berserker mobs and then Enkidu will kill the Gazer in one turn. The Soul Eater fight is basically the same except I use an AoE Berserker to clear the second wave and a single target Berserker to one shot the boss.
