I'm really glad with how everything turned out for BB really. It started rocky as hell with the Top 8 not being very good, but Grand Finals was such a wild ride that it's probably one of my favorite sets ever now. They all realized everyone loves crossovers. There's some notion of brand weakening or something that persisted for some time that wasn't actually true. If a fighting game competitor wants to use your character, you can get a profit piece AND advertising for your own product. That's basically what Smash showed.

2014 is pretty much impossible to top really, there was so much emotion going on there. When it comes to pure gameplay and situations, I'd say this year outdid it, but 2014 will still feel "better" because of just how invested the players got in it. Still, I can't say that I didn't enjoy Ryuuseis antics, the guy makes a perfect villan, and he did seem legitimately overwhelmed after winning. Top 32 was pretty amazing yeah, Dora running through Var was definitely a highlight. I actually spent the entire day watching BB pools to top 32 and there were so many great matches, my favorite was either Dora vs Var or BeautifulDude vs Poropiccho.
I wish there had been more Rachel representation but TheArm did pretty good as usual, and Takao managed to get into Top 8 so I can't really complain there. Wish he had beaten Tochigin though, that match was super close and I was surprised over how many people were actually cheering for Rachel despite her being top-tier.
