Does anyone who plays 1257 know if bows got shat on or something? I kept reading about how gud the Masterwork Hunting Bow was (lol you can take down shields in 1 hit and 4 power draw with it) but I can't even break my companions shoddy wooden shield with it in a tournament and the only thing I have low is proficiency. Would that really be causing this much of an issue because from what I can tell proficiency doesn't increase ranged damage, only melee.

The Dark Souls stuff is from a past thread I saw last week, and it began with the same comments about Warband combat being floaty and non-engaging, because you can move and cancel attacks.
I imagine if given enough time people will insist on the same conclusions, that slow and deliberate combat where you commit and can't cancel out of attacks is better than combat where you can bluff, faint or basically have gradual, fluid control over dodges and attacks. This has been the conclusion in threads about other games on /v/ too.
