You are doing something wrong if you can't make some serious progress between 2 generations. Or you unlocked the wrong skills first. I don't know by how much but the Life type skills help extend your digimons lifetime, so you should probably pick at least the first two to as early as possible which is only 6 skill points. my megas lived around 20 days.
Both of my mons are currently at the 3rd generation, I'm in the second chapter and just helped kouta and himari with their little episodes
It never feels like I can't achieve enough with a generation before they die again.

I'm only glad i finally got the ability to block of digivolutions or I probably would have ended up with yet another MirageGaogamon. Already got that fucker once in genaration 1 and 2 each.

currently have a MarineAngemon and Bancholeomon as my 3rd generation in Next order.
Just finished the 3rd chapter with them, although ExE pretty much carried me through the last few fights. They themselves started to feel pretty weak and especially against zwart D , they only dealt like 2 digit numbers of damage.

Well, what is he supposed to do in the current situation? He is not some supergenius, bordering on CIA agent like Rei, he has no access to L Corp like Eri, and going in loud is suicide, especially with a hostage on the line. Dunno, i bought the first 2 life extending skills pretty quick. so with that it's roughly 20 days. Haven't yet brought myself to buy the last skill for 15 points so i don't know by how much that one would extend it.
MarineAngemon managed 22 because i gave it some life from bancholeomon to sync them up more. they died roughly the same time now.

Decided to make a line and picked slightly different mons for experimentation. I guess champion and ultimate can be replaced with Growlmon/Wargrowlmon if necessary. MegidraX could also replace Crimson Mode for a more bestial flavor. Kinda cheated on the "abnormal" ones, Eater Adam seemed fitting, since Arata actually absorbed Dukemon while in the process of evolving into him, while Ragnamon technically is a Mega, but is a game final boss and a bizzare digimon all around. Mainly picked him because he is cool, and because his shape somewhat resembles Megidramon
