You can totally send one shinobi into a rescue mission and succeed without fighting anyone, especially early game. And it's not objectively dumb...it's actually pretty smart gameplay and suspenseful in its own right.

If you don't want to do a mission that way then don't. That's the beauty of LW2 over vanilla. Missions are more diverse and objective based rather than "kill everyone in the room to win."

That's been dead for awhile now. Objectives have guard pods now, evac take longer even for small squads.

It was purged because optimal play was sneaking. Sneaking occasionally was fine, but balancing the combat meant taking into account that fact that almost every mission could just be stealthed. Hence, sneaking was nerfed to shit in order to properly balance the gameplay around combat. The player was actively punished before for fighting.
Sneaking in a turn based game with hardly any stealth mechanics is not what you want the optimal method to be for completing missions.

As of 1.3 solo "stealth" is super high risk and will probably get your soldier killed. It can work if you get lucky but it's not worth it.

That said, concealment can be helpful to avoid pods and it's nice if you can get near the objective before going loud sometimes. You just have to take a squad that can fight if necessary.

Working on making the cosmetic versions for the Advent Scou- Pathfinders mod, and playing "dress your Advent" with Dor's Avatar armor mod. Unfortunately as it turns out i should've thought about this when i made the Advent Pathfinders themselves 8 months ago because their legs only go with their own torso, so if you use the Pathfinder legs with other Advent Torsos they have a gaping hole where their dick would be.

No for two reasons, one, the way capes work is that they get attached to "sockets" on the torsos, so in order for you to use a cape on a torso the torso needs to have a socket for a cape, meaning that i would have to go through each torso and add sockets for the capes so you could use them.

The second reason is that the way these capes are made they wouldn't work on any torso in the game anyway, they attach to their giant shoulderpads and no other torso or arms in the game has shoulderpads that big.

So, while i'm not opposed to making more capes(i love capes), it would have to be its own mod and it wont be happening any time soon, the only cape related plans i have is capes for the skirmishers, but maybe we wont be able to play with the Expansion's assets so maybe i wont get to do that.

Wound up getting fucked by a mod map as I was placed starting in a tower radius with no specialist on mission. Blew early cover ... Mission went better than expected. 0 Deaths 2 wounded. All rookies, all promoted.

Lacked full infiltration (97%) on next mission only had a fire team (4 total) on mission and accidently tripped detection immediately.

Popped evac call 1st tun because I expected to get swarmed. Nope. Mission went smooth as hell. 1 wounded.

Can I fail any missions in March and/or lose anyone above Squaddie rank in Xcom 2? Been playing C/I and had plenty of failed runs under my belt. A failed mission or loss of critical squad members just seems to snowball into a shitpile. Does anyone know which .ini files to edit for the Xskin, Vanilla Laser Weapons and EW weapons? For some reason the damage on those (when I use them as the Xskin version) defaults to the average value instead of the spread (IE; 4 instead of 3-5 for ballistics)

Also, for some reason, a lot of weapon mods add skins for Tier 1, but not the other tiers. Its fine when you're at the final stretch with tons of spare resources, but between having an upgrade list that takes several days to scroll through and not being able to have certain characters carry certain weapons it's getting pretty annoying.

I like killzone and fanfire.

Killzone is a nobrainer for me, pistols are too weak for a single shot on multiple enemies to be anything but something you must set up to be useful, and if you are setting something up, set up a killzone.

I said serial is a great ability. Its my favorite thing to get through AWC, any class that gets it i instantly respec to make best use of it as possible. The thing is, however, the game gives you several ways to deal with an accidental activation of an extra pod, things that let you do a lot of damage to a single target are much less rare. lightning hands quickdraw and fanfire with bluescreen rounds let you do a lot to enemies you really want to do a lot of damage to, and since its spread out over multiple hits an unlucky miss wont screw your strategy either.

To really let serial work for you when things are under control you must set it up, and if you are going through the trouble of setting things up just set up a killzone.

That said, i do not use offensive support because i dont like my strategy being contingent on finding hacking boosts, so my support is always a defensive type. I use my sharpshooters as part of my anti-mech strategy.

It just seems in the game having reliable skills capable of more or less guaranteed moderate damage output is better than having skills that have the potential to totally dominate if everything goes well for you.

Adding to that Gatecrasher has something that most other maps don't have.

Totally invulnerable cover. Gatecrasher has it out of the ass and you will almost always encounter the last pod or two near it. Which makes grenades useless other than for guaranteed damage which isn't enough to kill a Sectoid or the Officer.

This is something that has always bothered me with EU and X2. Seems like a really simple thing to add somewhere to the interface whether it's in a tactical battle or in the armory screen. It'd be very nice to see how close your soldier is to getting promoted.

Sounds good to me too, i already use RealityMachina's Squad Notoriety on top of LW2's Infiltration system, i don't mind adding fatigue to the mix, just gonna need some mods to get more rookies or cheaper rookies.

Will probably get a bigger grid, but even if we don't that's fine, there's pretty much no choice making at all when building facilities and it would be nice if you had to choose which facilities you want, although in the end it's pointless because people will just not build labs or the defense matrix.

I don't see the problem with this either, i think it's an interesting mechanic that allows you to turn your normal soldiers into super soldiers if you want, although i doubt many people will turn their normal soldiers into super soldiers when they can just invest on the hero classes, that said, this is just more stuff for mods to play with and that's great.

As others have said, Sectopods were used to defeat earth's conventional armies (along with whole armies of mutons, since they're the alien's frontline infantry, I assume). DoTs are a lifesaver against the Archon King, any damage makes him drop whoever he's grabbed without any harm. Keep the team spread out so only one person at a time suffers from his projectile attack. Also the unique alien weapons are really good at fucking him over with their stun chances and locking him up for a couple of turns.

Having some issues getting a LW2 game started. it'll start the opening cinematic and either crash mid-video, or crash when the level confirm option is pressed for the first stage, if it makes it past the cutscene.
according to the task manager, it instantly spikes in CPU and memory usage up to 2400/2600+ mp usage and then the entire computer will lock up, and then i have to kill the process entirely to get the computer to actually work again.
