Rienfleche has 14 Mt and has a super Panic effect. When attacking an enemy, their buffs will convert to debuffs at the start of combat, and after combat, any enemies within two spaces will suffer the Panic effect. Effective against fliers.

Learns Galeforce, Vantage+, and Spd +3.

Vantage+ is unique to Lyn, letting her always strike first when being attacked.

Learns Pair Up, Aether, and Spur Atk/Spd.

Pair Up is an Assist unique to Lucina. If used on an ally, Lucina imbues that ally with +4 Atk and +4 Spd for the rest of the map, which can stack with other regular buffs. When that ally activates their Special, Lucina will show up and immediately follow up with her own attack.

Spur Atk/Spd boosts adjacent ally Atk and Spd by +3 in combat.

I pulled two (it seems I was destined to be a softboy retainer), one being +atk,-spd. It turns out that it's one of his best iv's because his speed is dogshit.

Heroes is so offensive-oriented because there's one attack stat but two defense stats (speed is mixed). Defensive units are diluted in their usability for having to distribute more points in two stats to be effective at their job. IS really fucked up.

No, that's stupid. Mixed tanks are, by design, supposed to be partially ineffective at tanking both types of damage.

Single-defensive units with non-stupid stat spreads are still good, such as Xander. It's just that most of them decide to dump too many points in their other defensive stat and not atk or spd. See Florina and Caeda. See Snacki or Julia as an example of how you can still have good stats while being a tank.

Defensive units are perfectly viable. Julia, Sanaki, Eliwood, Camus et al. are all tanky units that also have stats that range from good to decent elsewhere in their kit. You play around their kits and use their favored defensive stat accordingly. The only "problem" that occurs in this is that hybrid defense units are bad which is actually fine because units that want to focus on both should be weaker individually than units that specialize in one defensive stat.

You're not actually wrong in saying that Heroes is offense oriented but it's not because of defense stats are split like you erroneously believe. Heroes is offensively oriented because maps are smaller, units are individually quite strong, and because maps end only once the enemies are completely cleared off. You're rewarded for beating enemies in their formations before they can cluster up and potentially make things difficult for you with too tight positioning/spacing. But even in this environment, the defensively oriented characters I listed above find ways to be relevant even when they're not topped out in both Atk and Spd.

She's got slightly better offensive stats, but she specializes in resistance which is great for fighting other mages and using Atk Ploy while Celica has somewhat low defenses in both categories. Celica is still better because Ragnarok is gross but Katarina's stat spread is better.

Between all the free orbs for events, arena, the summer chapters, the monthly quests, BHB, and the Tempest rewards, 65 is pretty reasonable, event if you started at zero before.

And I think you should save as many as you can, since some chains may be easier than others for units you're grinding. And both the normal and the hard ones should be saved, since the former are better for SP grinding, while you need the latter to get maximum HM.

Would it be good to just clear the maps anyway, and the UPGRADE the castle to max decoration to offset the XP and also allow you to level faster from low levels to max (because fuck that nonsense, so annoying). So even with the XP penalty for completing it already, you still level up decently and get good SP.

Anon, with the amount of SP the chain challenges give and with the exp boost they added in v1.5.0, not having the castle fully upgraded in order to get more SP is a non-issue. You can't grind for as long on lower strata and the chain challenges give a ton of SP. Just don't clear the ones that are worth feathers and you're fine.
