I can agree with that, it's old news. That was I thought the point of the news section. It had the three newest major stories related to halo with a link for each.

So right now it would be something like
1 - the announcement of BC for Halo CEA, 3, ODST, and 4
2 - New Halo Wars 2 announcements just made public

Boarding Action is awful for the fact that you're exposed almost all the time. Both maps are pretty much mini game/customs maps and should be viewed as such rather than regular maps.

Yeah, people typically become defensive when they're called an ignorant child. I'm well aware people like the map since we play it every time we play MCC, I just have a different idea of fun to other people. An example being that I quite enjoy Haemorrhage despite people in the general not being fans of it. I don't think the DMR is anywhere near game breaking enough on the map as it isn't as accurate as people claim, the map still has a decent level of movement and I like playing CTF and Heavies on it.

Outside of the forerunner stuff, everything looks like traditional bungie era halo as far as aethetics go.

If you liked Halo Wars 1, you'll like 2, possibly even more.
One thing though: Get the ultimate edition. It's $10 right now at $40 and well worth the extra price for all the contemt you get. Halo Wars 2 has the best DLC content since Halo 3 imo.

I mostly feel the same. My bigger issue with Reach was the way so many maps overcomponsated for AAs. It made sense, but I was always envious of an armor ability I didn't have.

I'm not even shitting you. It's something they call a "remix" where they take a map, change something aethetic about it, then make a small tweak to the geometry in one or two areas. Some of them are better done than others. But not here.

So basically you're voting between day or night.

Eden made better use of the dark shadows in the beta because the engine they were using was better tuned for emulating darkness.
In the final release it's just a generic "night" filter that is overtop of everything. So I'd say vote for empire.

He's a good youtuber.
His videos are well put together and well cut. He doesn't come off as strongly opinionated as say, Favyn or the Act Man.
He also has an excellent presentation voice.
That being said, because he tries to view everything through an objective lense, he can sometimes come across as a bit of a know it all, and while his videos are packed with interesting analyzing, the long run time can tend to drag on.

Playing Reach DLC was never a problem for me since I always had a dedicated group of people to lobby up with back in 2011ish, but for whatever reason we rarely played here specifically.
I always heard it was a good map for snipers.

Highlands

Tempest definitely has a LOT better grass, and the water looks better as well.

Highlands also has more issues like grass being randomly placed underwater or really short draw distance for trees and other plants before they turn all 2D. Also not a fan of it's skybox, the concept is cool, but it ends up looking bad especially with the fog clipping through the cruiser.

He does something with Act Man, Favyn, Hidden Experia, and formerly latenightgaming called "The All Skulls On Podcast".
You can find the episodes on Act Man's channel.

The podcasts are... well, they're interesting, that's for sure, though not entirely for the reasons intended. You can tell that each person has their own ego they're trying to flaunt except for maybe Act Man but the different ways they subliminally (or not so much subliminally) take jabs at each other is pretty awkward at times.
There are a lot of dynamics between any two of the different youtubers and very few of those dynamics are clean cut. For instance, Favyn seems pretty clearly jelous of Raycevik's subscriber count and takes as many opportunities as he can to appear top dog on many issues of discussion even though Raycevik is often better at expressing his own opinion. Act Man seems to be the most level headed of the group and doesn't seem to seek out engagements but you can clearly tell he has the least actual gaming exposure (and likely the most normal life) of the lot. Act Man references the same 4 or 5 N64/gamecube games constantly and you can tell he has immense childhood nostalgia for them. I doubt he's played much outside of the N64 essentials, the paper mario games, and Halo.
Then you have latenightgaming who... well, lets just say the guy has spent entire segments of his own Halo videos on his channel talking about how he got bullied and had a tortued social life in primary school. So you should know what to expect from him going in.

TL;DR it's a mixed lot of 20-something year olds that are probably not actually autistic acting mildly autistic in their own ways nonetheless, but because they're some of the only Halo youtubers left on the planet, they feel they have a platform to do it together on. Watch at your own risk.

The grain filter wasn't added to appeal to anyone. It was a method used to disguise graphical obscurities. This happens constantly in big budget games. Sometimes it's rain or weather effects instead.

I think a healthy medium is necessary.
Halo 5 for instance has gone too far in the opposite direction. On one end you have something like chiron which is just... well, you know. But then on the other hand you have Coliseum or Fathom which is just overly bland and predictable.
I think Halo 2 hit the medium between the two best.

Cartographers are very skilled and I'm jelous desu that they are so much better at map making than I am.
It really has opened up a third branch of Halo players. You have your people that are best at campaign, and this includes speedrunners, LASO experts, and other players that can master the levels in various ways. Then you have your multiplayer experts who prefer mastering the multiplayer sandbox. And now you have your map makers who have really been there all along since Halo 3 or even durther back with custom edition but it's nice to see them finally getting their due. I remember when a massive map making contest was held a few months after Reach launched and all these maps were chosen to be instituted into multiplayer playlists but they never were, at least to my knowlege. I've always been a fan of what forgers can do and probably have something something like 200 forge maps doenloaded on H5 alone now.

Some of halo5 maps are good. Sadly its not enough to really call great. Most are clutter filled or came out post launch

I think that one map that take a place on a spinning space station is well done. Also some of the forge skyboxes are kinda beautiful

I believe so. It's still the Pious Inquisitor so it's literally a remake in every sense of the word.
Last Resort is also the exact same location as Zanzibar.

If the scenery is similar then it'a fair to assume the map location is the same place. Maps like Blackout and Reflection are obviously different places than the maps they are remakes of.

Unfortunately you can't mass hornets or scorps as effectively as the first game because now the AI spams the leader powers like crazy.

The trick is to always have a good amount of hornets complimenting marines and (if available) snipers. Hornets are good because they can fly over terrain and easily escape glassing beams. Keep your armies segmented. Always send out a small part of it to get the enemie's attention and wait for the leaderpower. Then when it's over send in the main force.

Basically just be prepared for super high numbers of enemies. The enemies themselves aren't even tougher or stronger than normal, they just spawn in greater amounts. The AI also cheat by spamming leader powers faster than they cooldown and because it's a computer it doesn't have to deal with things like fog of war.

343 has absolutely taken note of his viral videos and will now be watching to see how popular Halo 3 is on backwards compat.
343drones lost. Sprint will almost certainly not be in Halo 6 now and the older style of play will make a return to form.

Have you ever played Arkham Knight? You know how for 95% of the game it's raining? Well there's a small period of time after the poinson ivy arc is over where it stops raining and you can see how low poly everything is even 50 feet away from batman.
It's the same thing here. I don't like the grain filter either, but it keeps the geometry from looking like something on the N64.

Devs pull all kinds of sneaky shit to hide graphical downgrades from the player.
Halo 3 didn't need as many because it runs at sub HD resolution and doesn't pit a strain on the console. Reach is a very graphically intense game for the Xbox 360 to handle, to the point where the oldest models of 360s literally can't handle it at times.

Halo 3 runs at like 640p and has lower draw distances and less models/geometry on screen than reach, by a significant amount.
I'll agree that it looks better overall, but that's because it wasn't pushing the hardware too much. Reach did and as a result they needed the filter to compromise so the game wouldn't look like a PS2 game.

The reach maps look better. Yes. But Fuck ive seen halo5 forged maps look better. Also nearly perfect replicas of CE maps in halo5. There's a chill out remake with proper plain walls and fog.
