A lot of that simply cannot be avoided in a /vg/ guild, at least in my opinion. However I feel like the key to it all is a guildleader and/or officers that will gkick anything that becomes cancerous. No exceptions.
"Cancerous" can be defined differently, so the definition I'm using would include things like rampant attention whoring, nonstop shitposting (some is ok, of course), or basically something that is creating drama for no real reason. And obviously a lot would have to be left to interpretation on a case by case basis rather than "3 memes per hour" rules.

Essentially "don't be a huge dick", which you'd think at least on the surface seems doable even for a /vg/ guild.
I think that's all you really need. The rest can take care of itself. The point should be to have fun, kill bosses, get loot, all with /vg/ bros. Not to bait for (you)s and act like cunty teenage girls to each other.

That's what you need, a personal antidote for that mental illness of yours.
But sure, buddy, I'll expand on my anecdote. Here's what happens.

Guild starts out using Vent. Everyone has their own people that they mesh well with, and they generally whisper each other individually and hang out in the same vent channel, but anyone can (and does) join that channel, participate in conversation, and feel welcomed. Private whispers between people are one-on-one conversations, and don't really facilitate the growth of cliques.
Move to Discord. Things start out mostly the same, but within a week, two different groups have created their own individual discords and mostly hang out in there. The guild discord is mostly composed of the guild leader, new members, people not part of any cliques, and clique members when their buddies aren't online. These clique members can frequently be seen leaving the discord as more people get online so that they can go off in their own discord. About a month later, behind-the-scenes shittalking is rampant, people are insulting one another, and several people split off to join other raiding guilds they perceive to be more hardcore.

All of this is very much possible without discord, but it's a very natural progression with it.

My biggest complaint wrath onward was that it was so many humans and that so many people switched due to the racial. Lots of people felt like they had to, and as that went on it created a huge imbalance that lasted I think until WoD at least but I'd have to look it up.

S5 hunters,dks Hpala deep in ret for repentance, S6 prot-holy pala and wizards, S7 was actually good, S8 wizards and retarded comps like the african turtle cleave with the prot warrior running with exactly 47 resilience and full pve gear, TSG with double shadowmourne, double healer prot pally and I think there was more stupid shit like that.

I mean I played MM/surv hunter and affly lock to high level and I really really enjoyed the pvp but the homogenization and pvp balancing trend of 3v3s only (now that I remember in S7 they removed rewards from 2v2s) is what brought the game to the shitness that is today.
