Isn't this the new "final boss" of what is essentially the longest and biggest MH game though? I know Frontier has a lot of things where you're just expected to panic dive area-wide AOEs but it seems like they're mostly late to endgame things. Plus Valfuck is like that too.

Although watching more I see this isn't actually much better than Ichinose's lance. Might as well play striker, it's not like this has the 3U and 4U additions anyway and there's so much bullshit here.

im not sure about final boss, he seems pretty weak compared to things like lvl9999 disu and duremudira
but you're correct, most of the roster isn't like this. there is a lot of AoE as you get closer to late G rank, but nothing like aera wide sneezes every two seconds

think of amatsu or astalos, they are similar to what you would see from the average monster in G rank in terms of how much AoE they have

That sounds moderately fun. I had a taunt lance set for that in 4U. Kinda funny using that and having the monster literally attack a hunting horn or gunner a couple of times a hunt but otherwise completely focus on me and then come here and see uninformed people who haven't tried it claiming stealth and taunt actually do almost nothing. Same with using binoculars on a white fatty hunt (with friends, I would never be that useless with people I didn't know), it didn't target me once in three hunts crouching with binoculars in the corner.

As delusional as GL kids in 4U. Prowler is the third-worst solo weapon and second-worst weapon overall, its main draw when you get down to actual combat is that it's much harder to triple cart and thus take the blame for making the team fail the quest if you're seriously bad at the game. Pierce bows are actually a lot better than pierce boomerangs, and, well, there's a reason pierce is the least-used bow type despite having tremendous critical distance. (It's because after its MV nerfs in third gen pierce bow is fucking garbage compared to the others.)

Its real main draw in the big picture is that you never have to grind anything to make your gear, which I can kinda respect at least, but you definitely suffer a huge tradeoff for that. It really only serves to highlight how gunlances have to grind twice as much as everyone else just to have a shitty lance that takes twice as long to kill anything, blasts teammates away if they try to do anything fun with it and also gets killed way easier than lance because it has only one backhop and no combo-able guard.

Dire Miralis's is really good, but mainly because of its skillful use of the leitmotif of the series in conjunction with an exaggeratedly ominous and doomy melody. Something that manages to be even almost as good without even using a familiar motif is much more impressive on a raw technical level.

The only time a gunner would get hit in the first place, even before gen, is a place where they can't dodge (in the middle of crouchfire/rapidfire, or while actively firing their bow at close range), so that's not super relevant. More relevant for bow, which tends to stick pretty close to the monster, but still bow mostly abuses it not to avoid damage but to charge shots faster.

I kinda figured you weren't very good if you had convinced yourself, probably having never played gunner or only played it in early low rank and apparently being someone that plays prowler, that prowler was even less survivable, but it's nice to have confirmation. It's not that you never ever get hit as gunner, it's that you practically have to be trying to be hit to get hit during a time you are able to dodge. That's not because you should be able to iframe everything, it's because you are typically maintaining a distance from the monster that a blademaster cannot, and the times you cannot dodge are also times you cannot literally just walk out of the way of attacks (which you can without dodging most of the time). On the contrary, huge attack commitment on bowguns is the main reason their reduced defence is even an issue.

Farming Diablos on high rank in MH3U solo is true suffering. Maybe I'm just terrible at this game, Amy tips on how to break both of his horns? I can usually only get one broken and I need some majestic horns badly. I'm using greatsword(brazenwall). He does a ton of damage to me and I can't seem to dodge his stacks at all as he's hyper aggressive and my attacks are slow as fuck, I can't get a single hit in without getting hit and that's without charging up. Bless I trap him or sonic bomb him but that's few and far in betwixt. I'm still using the low rank ligaicrus armor too.

Any tips ?? I'm pondering the noose for now

Sonic bombs don't work when Diablos is enraged, which is actually most of the time. Delayed hits like crag shots from LBG can stagger it underground, though, which has the same effect except it works even when it's enraged, but you have to actually get a stagger for it to work.

i FINALLY fucking beat rathian and it actually wasnt that bad. the only real danger is the tail swipe and it has a pretty obvious tell. fireballs just = free attack time. with proper positioning you dont even have to worry about any of her attacks

If regular, then yeah, she's like the training wheels monster so you figure out that that applies to all monsters. There's actually two ways to fight her, either position yourself so you just aren't being hit and keep hitting her until she dies, or go ham on her head- It's such a weakspot that with rank-appropriate gear and most weapons you can staggerlock her for several combos and then get out of the way before she retaliates.

Shaggy weapons are designed to be used on elemental crit sets, which are fun and definitely viable if not TA-optimal. My favourites are the lance and DB, which are classes that focus heavily on element anyway. It should be noted in particular that the lance is one of the best craftable lances and IS the winning option on several TAs.

Speed is top priority. If you plan on transferring your save to XX or an eventual Generations Unite at some point, and think you might try brave, power/element is secondary, since brave has the kinsect automatically attack alongside you a lot of the time. Otherwise, heavy.

thanks for reminding me that I've been procrastinating on crafting an IG in XX. It's one of my favourite weapons but even in 4U I hated upgrading it, at least in XX you can swap bugs between glaives so you don't have to keep making the same bug again and again.

Oh yes, I'm shitposting, frontier designs are totally great and fitting for Monster Hunter, I love how the art styles clash and how everything looks like it was made for a different game, engine and generation.

I finally beat the frenzied 9 star Brachydios with HH without carting. I abandoned every time I carted to ensure I wasn't cheesing it.

It took me 15 mins, but I don't care about optimal times, anymore. I managed to get a better time with GS, anyway. Please tell you can knock out monsters out of frenzy a bit more easily with better wystones, as I progress.
