Yeah, but I ONLY needed the vials. I went straight to Ludwig after Amelia, so there weren't any great places to farm echoes.
I did him at such a low level because I wanted the Fist of Gratia. My build didn't use bullets. There was no long-term disadvantage to not farming bullets. Yeah I know I'm out of shots in that pic but it was just super minor chip damage

Whereas this takes a whopping 4 incredibly short runs, and you initiate the boss on that fourth run without any leaving or loading screens. Even then, it only takes 4 runs if I'm completely drained.

The point is: if you use BHM instead of being dumb, you won't need to farm vials again. You will stop doing 4 runs every time you use 20 vials and have more than a hundred if you backstab chain the two executioners outside Ludwig's room a couple of times and buy vials at the Dream.

Chain backstabbing the Executioners is incredibly slow and unreliable when your damage is low and cannot kill the gun wielding one before you're in range to aggro the axe user.
I only had to "farm" maybe twice anyway. Simply being conservative with vials during phase 1 of the fight means that if you die having not used many, you very quickly stack the 5 extra vials you get each run.

If we assume you're right and it takes six charges + viscerals and doesn't aggro the other, that's still 12 charges + viscerals in order to slay the Axe guy, the one that actually drops the vials. That takes fucking ages compared to just grabbing the 5 and hunters marking out.
To test it out, I timed killing that one corpse and then killing the 2 huge dudes on a character that can ohko the huge dudes. It takes about 17 seconds to kill the red guy from the spawn and then Hunters mark. Not counting the loading screen caused by marking, that's 68 seconds for 20 vials and an instant boss fight.

When you can kill the large lads in a SINGLE visceral, it takes about 55 seconds to kill both of them + the red guy, assuming you start from the lantern. That's 11 vials.
Then you have to sit through the extra load screen to get to the dream, where you have a whopping 4894 echoes from the large lads+redman. Post vicar-amelia, that's 9 vials worth. Even if you spent those all on vials, you've got 20 vials in way longer than it took to just farm redman 4 times, but you would have to spend a bit of that on BHM anyway so you don't even have that 20.

You have now a million Blood vials and a ton of souls you can use to purchase more Blood vials and BHMs.

Alternatively go to any Depth 5 chalice and grind for souls for a bit, then buy million Blood vials.

With the Rune it looks neat without a top, the head and arm pieces won't be visible though. If it's runeless then Gehrman's, Butcher's, Sweaty, and Charred garbs are some good options.
