Lava lad vs Apollo.gif
1MB, 164x236px
The horn blows, and wasting no time Apollo readies and fires his crossbow in one swift movement. In vain, however, as Lava Lad, in an incredible display of skill, raises his armoured fists and deflects the bolt, letting it spin harmlessly away! Before the shocked cheetah-man can even think about firing again, the erstwhile hero expertly smashes his iron-cast fist into the cheetah-mans leg, snapping the thin bones and dropping the feline like a sack of potatoes! Apollo has barely hit the earth before a second punch flies into his nose, smearing it all over his snout and causing the cheetah-man's snarl to be cut short as his head is snapped backwards! While Apollo desperately tries to position himself in a defensive stance, Lava Lad buffets him back and forth, each strike expertly placed to cause a maximum amount of damage, and soon the silver crossbow falls from nerveless paws. The slender cheetah man is beaten viciously by his larger opponent, his bones creaking and breaking with every punch, his own attacks easily dodged. Nauseous and dizzy with pain, the poor beast mewls pitifully and tries to crawl away, but is checked and kept in place by the unrelenting barrage of Lava Lad's fists. Finally, to the relief of certain members in the audience, the unfortunate cheetah-man falls unconscious. Pausing for a moment, Lava Lad removes Apollo's helm, almost gently, and takes careful aim. One final strike is all it takes, and the cat-man's brains are smeared all over the arena.

Well done Lava Lad! In an impressive display of skill, you have defeated the armed and dangerous Apollo with nothing but heroism and the fire in your belly. You also have 249 points to spend on your next round, may you and your manager prepare wisely! Apollo the cheetah man, you still have a chance to claw your way back to the land of the living. May the strength of your bowstring not break in the meanwhile!

For the last of today's fights, we have Dick Ass Thief, a human... thief, against Mr Worldwide, a stylish, yet controversial figure in his own right. There are rumours he moonlights as a bard under a different name, but we have yet to find conclusive evidence that this is the case.

Dick Ass Thief has already made himself fairly unpopular with both random members of the audience and the other gladiators, by stealing, cheating, lying, and generally being a dick. None have so far opposed him directly, but he's received numerous death threats and warnings. Uncaring and always ready to wield his copper dagger, this human has a nasty streak a mile wide, and is keen to indulge it.

Mr Worldwide has announced that his real reason for joining the tourney is to discover or earn a pair of artifact pants. Perhaps an amateur of the dwarven pants-making arts, or perhaps just hoping that the object of his quest will be magical, and grant him some form of power. In the meanwhile, he'll be relying on his barbed and wickedly sharp steel spear.

Place your bets folks, the fight shall begin shortly!

Mr Worldwide, in typical goblin fashion, wastes no time in taking the offensive by thrusting his spear at the ass-dicking thief before him. Dick-Ass thief, however, brilliantly sidesteps and scores a terrible blow against Mr Worldwide's head! His ear hanging by a thread and blood turning his green skin ochre, the goblin furiously redoubles his efforts! Laughing and taunting dickishly, DAT dodges and parries, but in an skilled reversal, he is stabbed deeply in the leg! As his hated enemy tumbles tp the floor, it is Mr Worldwide's turn to cackle, baring his pointed teeth. At least, until the laughter turns into a hiss of pain as his hand is fractured by a lightning fast blow from the prone human. The two trade blows, neither gaining an obvious advantage, but both becoming more and more bloody and worn down. It is the goblin however, who lands the more serious of blows, managing to plunge his spear into Dick-Ass Thief's neck! The tissue of his spine torn to ribbons, the mortally wounded human drops his dagger, the weapon helplessly out of reach. Cruelly, Mr Worldwide takes his time in finishing of his opponent. Stabbing him in the arms, legs, hands, stomach and all over his body. Now screaming in pain, Dick-Ass-Thief is pierced over and over, his life's essence running thickly from his body mixing with the dark, brackish goblin blood. Eventually, bored with his twisted sport, Mr Worldwide finishes off his foe with a direct strike to the base of the human's skull. Wrenching the steel free, the goblin shakes grey matter off his weapon, before raising it to the cheering and booing crowd exultantly!

And so ends the last of today's fights. Well fought, Mr Worldwide, you have 226 points to spend on your upgrades for the next round, hopefully your quest for the artifact pants you seek shall end as judiciously as your last fight. Well, the thief got what was coming to him. His dickery is still not quite over just yet, however, as he may just yet steal the breath of life from the cold depths of death, should he prevail in the battle royale.

Tomorrow we have some very exciting matchups. Two literal animals will be competing, for whatever reason it is that motivates creatures who act more on instinct than reason. Goodnight, dear members of the audience, and sleep well, cherished gladiators for tonight may well be your last. See you all tomorrow!

Reposting in this thread because desperation.

I am the author of the Fantastic Races mod, shown here: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=12897

While the mod is more or less functioning, I am having trouble with two castes in the Manat race. I have given these two natural abilities, but they simply refuse to work. I have spent the last two and a half months on and off trying to solve this problem, with no results, although the natural abilities of the other races are working fine. So I've decided I'm just going to ask for help. These are my two issues:

1. The Manat fleshsmith caste from my mod has two syndrome inducing gas attacks with various symptoms. They are both nonfunctional at the moment and I do not know how to make them work.
2. The Manat face caste has an ability to transform into a fleshy cocoon using scripts ripped from the Werebeast transformation ability, as a means to regenerate limbs and recover damage, but this ability does not function and I do not know how to fix it.

Both these creatures and the non-functioning abilities added to them can be viewed simply by downloading the mod and looking in the Manat creature raws. If someone helps me with one of these problems, I will make a custom race and civ for them, within reason (IE nothing impossible with the current modding tools or something incredibly complex like a creature with dozens of castes). If one person fixes both of these problems, I will make two civs for them. The race/civ(s) can be anything you desire so long as they adhere to the qualifications described above. However, before I get to work on your reward, I will need some kind of proof that you actually have the abilities working, such as a webm of them in action (since you have no reason to trust me enough to post the raws outright, I assume).

I know you're joking but I'd probably take you up on that if you weren't. You cannot comprehend how frustrated I am with this. I even have another creature with a werebeast-based ability and it works just fucking fine for him. I even took that ability and tried to reverse-engineer it to work for my Manat caste, and it didn't fucking work. I have no idea why.

So I tunneled my main staircase down into the ceiling of a cave. No biggie, I thought, since you can't get into the staircase from below without an up stair down there, but now a cave spider is in my fort, so I clearly don't understand things properly. Anyway, I've been away for awhile so I've forgotten the exact solution to a problem like this. I don't think you can remove the lowermost up/down stair since remove construction doesn't work on it?

You know, I'm starting to think that spending money on armor isn't as good as spending points on dodging or weapon skill. Getting a full suit of armor costs a lot of points, since it has to be atleast made of iron/bronze, you could buy copper armor, but if the guy you're fighting has an iron/bronze weapon you might as well just throw your armor out the window, those weapons are going to cut through your armor like butter and there is a high chance that your opponent will have a weapon of that quality. All this means that you can't upgrade your skills much since you won't have many points left, and that's pretty bad

And even if you do have a full set of armor, that won't stop all the damage, especially if you're fighting someone quite skilled and with above average strength, like a dwarf or a goblin. It is quite likely to get your muscles torn by the force of the attacks even if the attack is deflected, even copper weapons are capable of that against steel armor. Sure, a torn muscle isn't as bad as a missing limb, but that limb is still unusable, and that is fucking awful, especially if it's the arm that holds the weapon.

Oh and if you're fighting someone with a silver or steel blunt weapon, you're shit outta luck, if you get hit by that you're gonna have to say goodbye to your bones.

All in all, you're better off with a shield.
>>
>>181467578
>one tile wide hallway
When did Toady introduce hobbit holes?
>>
>>181468891
Yeah, shields are overpowered, but ranged users and 2 handed weapon users can't use them
>>
>>181469446
Yeah, in those cases then getting armor might not be a bad idea, but I still think spending your points on something like dodging or weapon skill is better.
>>
>>181468891
Honestly, if someone was small-sized or has some points in bank, they could just buy a candy sword for 240 points and go full glass cannon with a fucking lightsaber.
>>
>>181468891
should armour be cheaper to make it viable?

>Cheaper armour would make people take less pure dodging/weapon skill
>Encourage blunt weapons
>Lengthen fights between people with edged weapons

Crabbo encasing himself in candy with a shield to embrace the meta and potentially getting really far, or Crabbo sticking true to his crab with a knife origins but probably dying instantly.

It was a battle for the Ages
A story retold, on multiple stages

A fated battle, aganst the lordly Farmer and the Mighty Kea
The Farmer stood her ground against the Proud Kea, never giving in and attempting to flee

The Kea then flew away, like a Elf
Afterwards, the farmer died due to a fallen shelf.

That'll be twelve sliver coins.

There ya go man, your materials weren't defined at the time of the interaction looking for it. You can also replace most of the doubled lines by just putting them in a block with [SELECT_CASTE:FOO][SELECT_ADDITIONAL_CASTE:BAR] and chain it to the ones you want to have those properties.

>>181483291
At first glance, it is just a consequence of pointing to undefined material templates.
Doing what the other guy suggested should have fixed this.

Having downloaded your raws however, the issue seems to be mismatched material tokens. Pic related, the tokens underlined in red are supposed to be identical. It doesn't matter what you put there, but it has to be consistent.
The token underlined in blue however has to point to an already defined material template, as >>181472149 points out.
This may be obvious, but you're also supposed to close your goddamn brackets. Don't know what issues it may cause, but I'd be surprised if it would work in this state.
If none of this helps, I advise you put the material definition above the interaction. Voodoo shit like that helps me with most truly hopeless issues.

I also can't help but notice the creature having duplicate caste names, which triggers me deeply.
But as long as it works it's fine.

Channeling removes the floor portion of the tile and replaces the tile underneath with a ramp.
Digging stairs can replace the floor with a down stair, wall with an up stair or a mix of both, depending on which option you choose.
Stairs have the advantage of being stackable on top of one another, while ramps are usable by wagons, discourage bad habits like 3x3, and most importantly don't look like hot garbage.
>>
>>181487827
3x3 is a bad habit?

I accidentally placed a channel instead of stairs as the quickstart wiki thing said. I also placed the stairs right in front of the channeling section. Any way to deconstruct that shit or something?
>>
>>181488014
They're useless, they look bad, they don't make any sense. Might as well make it 5x5 at this point.
Many people would simply abandon fortress after misplacing a channel designation but you're new, you don't care, put a floor over it and keep on living.
If you want to deconstruct the stairs, either channel them or designate a removal if you've buit them through the [b]-[C] window.

Sometimes I think about how this game might have never taken off if not for Toady having arbitrarily chosen dwarves as the playable species.
Like, if it was humans who ran to a battlefield for socks, players wouldn't think it's "dwarfy". They'd just think it's bad AI.
Dwarves have a character that fits the crazy rough corners this game has.
>>
>>181502749
That's dumb

It's so dumb that it might actually be true
>>
>>181502749
With the crazy obsessive detail that literally no other game can even hope to match, it absolutely would've taken off regardless of what race was playable. You can certainly argue it played a role in it's success, but the core of what makes the game so great isn't specific to dwarves or even the fantasy setting he chose, think about how boring and bog-standard this same-old tolkienesque fantasy setting really is. But the mechanical complexity and its emergent behaviors and stories blow way past any criticisms about "the setting isn't very inspired".

I certainly like the game the way it is, and I'm happy that we play dwarves, but I do think a lot of the details of the game's execution could be changed and you'd still get an amazingly complex and rich game, with similar popular success out of it.

I think atom smashing should instead turn into a mechanism that
A. Smashes things, but doesn't remove them. Instead. As in bodies will explode into various parts and bone.

That way I can make a 1 tile brigde with dumped bone on that tile, pull the lever and instant bone shrapnal grenade

>>181507312
You could really cheese the game with long reaching weapons.

Really it's just my gripe that there really isn't any reason for having a variety of weapons. Have your dwarves train to legendary status in whatever weapon skills and even the least useful weapon will fuck shit up.

I will admit the only exception is with undead and weapons that can pulp. But I think undead just need a redo in how they function and vulnerabilities anyway.
>>
>>181507731
Was talking more about how you could make long bridges with two pits around it and then have speardorfs on the other side of the pits poking at any monsters or invaders crossing the pit, alternatively you could have a bronze colossus or something made out of a really hard material trapped in a room and have dorfs poke at it from above to train their skills for free.
>>
>>181508575
Bronze Colossus would have an inherit reach just based on thier size. Could even make it out range anything dwarves can make.

And if you think for a second people don't already cheese the fuck out of this game whith everything already in place your a dum dum. They'd still have to worry about ranged units. Some of the invaders could also have long range weapons.

>>
>>181510660
What about the ones that dont want to be dicked?
>>
>>181509491
not necessarily.

at the moment, no one has any idea how these things will actually look like. if we imagine the simplest possible body plan:
>one tile for the head
>one tile for the body
>one tile for each limb
and then imagine that smaller body parts can be squeezed against other body parts so that they only take up a single tile.

under these premises, it should be possible for some multitile creatures to actually sqeeze and wriggle their way through small passages. of course, they'll be extra vulnerable when they do this, so the AI need to be able to know exactly when to do this. to give them a second option, they should also be able to smash some walls and floors down (depending on the size/strength of the creature vs the proprties of the wall material).
>>
>>181509491
>make them able to smash (some) walls
>make small corridors a hindrance for a big fortress (already the case with multi tile wagons), [some other ideas]
>make them able to squeeze through some passages
It makes more sense for a massive bronze colossus not to be able to enter your starter tunnels than what we have right now desu

Aw, that would be awesome. I can't wait for more internal politics. Persecute the followers of a dark god or have the kind demand a strict following of the god of work/obedience, have priesthood hierarchy instead of just having nobility, creating giant temples to inspire fear in the hearts of the dwarves.

Yeah "The Holy Mountain" which has some great moments, but is a little harder for people to swalllow than El Topo

Jodorowsky was probably just a madman, but I'll swear to my death that he is actually a genius, and that "The Holy Mountain" is a fun exploration of western, and eroticism, and that movie's slow chronological transition from outlandish to mundane represents the interpretive drift that participants of esoteric religious movements undergo from the moment they initiate, where everything is frightening, strange and otherworldly, to the moment that they become wholly comfortable in their practices, where everything is second nature, and indistinguishable from "real life"

My dear friends, welcome once more to the Third Dwarf Fortress General Tournament! For the third day of the event, we shall have not just four fights, no, we shall finally have all the remaining gladiators compete, and kill and die for your entertainment! The betting booths shall open soon while the fighters position themselves, awaiting the start of their battle. Seat yourselves comfortably, gather whatever refreshments your may desire, and let us allow the festivities to begin!

For our first match, we have two skilled and accomplished warriors. Double Digger, the human miner/warrior, against Reg Cogul, the dwarven Gladiatrix.

Armed with two copper pickaxes, this intimidating human wears a cloth mask and leather armour, but moves with the agility of a much smaller fighter. He has been reported dodging and defeating everything from gigantic monsters, to hordes of skeletons, to certain uncharacteristically huge plump helmet men. With the power of a sturdy pickaxe or two, we are certain this man is a dangerous opponent.

The Gladiatrix, however, appears to be no pushover herself. As equally capable at holding her ale as shattering bones and armour with her heavy silver warhammer, she is confident in her martial prowess, spending last night drinking heavily without a care in the world as to her life-or-death struggle the next day. Now, she appears hale and hearty, eagerly hefting her weapon and ready to vanquish whatever she may face.

Ready yourself, my good people, for it is time for Armok's appetite to be sated, and for your boredom to be dispelled. Let the fighting... BEGIN

The horn blows, and the two fighters begin their deadly dance. At first it appears they are evenly matched, with neither capable of wounding the other. Sparks fly and the dust is scattered about, displaced by the volatile fighters, until Reg scores first blood! Her hammer catches one of her opponents hands, and one of Digger's picks goes flying! His hand shattered, but still capable of fighting, the human lands a solid blow with his remaining pick, plunging it into one of the dwarven lass' legs! Unfortunately for him, before he can land another blow the stalwart Gladiatrix focuses his outstretched hand, and shatters it as well! Now with two hands crippled and unable to wield his weapons, Double Digger is in a very dangerous position. Dodging about he manages to avoid any more serious harm, but is incapable of going on the offensive himself. Finally, inevitably, Reg catches up and lands a powerful attack with her hammer on the miner's leg. Now even more crippled, and his dodging affected by the nauseating pain, the masked man is beaten soundly, the hammer landing again and again, pulping the flesh and breaking bones. In the end, with her foe now reduced to a bloody pulp on the ground, unconscious and defenceless, the Gladiatrix takes aim and throws all her weight into a final strike. Double Digger's skull is crushed, and his brains splattered all over the silver hammer. Raising the gore-stained weapon above her head, the grinning dwarf drinks in the crowd's jubilant cheers.

Congratulations Reg, you have 221 points to spend on your upgrades for the next round.
Double Digger: YOU DIED

For our next fight, we have the much anticipated match between simian sharpshooter, Gorilla WITH A GUN against the semi legendary martial artist, Urist McNudist.

Gorilla WITH A GUN is an enigma. Somehow capable of not only firing a crossbow, equipping armour, and understanding the concept of a tournament, but writing his own name down in the register! Hailing from distant jungles, we have no idea on how he became so intelligent, nor how he got here, nor why he is so god-damned angry. Regardless of his origins, we are pleased he found his way here to fight in our arena.

Urist McNudist claims to be developing a brand new martial art, superior to Kisat Dur in every way, along with any form of weapons-based combat strategy. When we pointed out that he was using a short sword, he merely shrugged and said his mum told him to bring it, and that she was in the audience, and that he was kind of embarrased but also pretty chuffed to be here. He said a lot more, but we don't have time to relay it all.

Place your bets folks, the next fight shall commence shortly!

He even let me surround him with cage traps. I released him safely back to caverns.
>>
>>181532171
his name is Portalconfused. me too buddy, how did you get past all the traps in my entrance.
>>
>>181532717
Trolls are legendary climbers for some reason.
>>
>>181532665
all wild animals have been broken since 0.40.

with the exception of some cavern animals (i.e. hungry heads, creeping eyes) all animals are peaceful as fuck. some run away from your dorfs, while others ignore them completely.

on some occasions, animals lash out against your dorfs, and then go back to being docile again. that's probably what happened with that troll.

The horn blows, and immediately a copper bolt goes flying at Urist McNudist. Skillfully dodging out of the way (not without an added flourish) Urist sprints towards his much larger enemy, his short sword at the ready. The angry ape, however is remarkably agile for such a large creature, and avoids the iron blade with skill, leaping about the arena all while reloading with his feet! For a while neither fighter can land a solid blow, as both combatants nimbly dodge the other's attacks. Frustrated, Urist charges at the Gorilla and attempts to tackle it! A fairly useless attempt it turns out, as the dwarf simply bounces off his much bigger foe, winding himself in the process. He repeats the process again, with exactly the same result to laughter from the crowd. The fight continues in this both tense and humorous manner, for even as every bolt fired by the gorilla is deftly avoided, Urist's own sword never finds purchase in his enemies flesh, either dodged or blocked by the gorilla's iron booties. Finally, one of the gorilla's bolts hits! Burying itself deeply in Urist's unprotected stomach, the effect is immediate! Retching and vomiting, Urist begins to panic! The crippling pain in his lower body prevents Urist from dodging, and another bolt slams into his foot! Now reduced to crawling, the unfortunate dwarf tries to scramble away, to find cover, protection, anything to hide behind! There is no way to escape the barrage of copper bolts, however and he is struck again, right between the shoulders! Paralyzed, Urist continues vomiting and screaming, as Gorilla WITH A GUN continues firing his crossbow! A one-monkey firing squad, the ape treats the poor dwarf like a pincushion, steadily pumping him full of needles. Fading in and out of exhaustion it takes a while for Urist to succumb to his wounds. Eventually he does however, his torn and ruined organs shutting down, mercifully leading him into death.

excellent victory theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKDlqdsw1i8
Congratulations, Gorilla WITH A GUN, you have 186 points to spend on your upgrades for the next round! Rest well, Urist, for your dear old mam hasn't given up hope quite yet. Knowing you may come back should you win the Battle Royale, your tremendous dodging skills may help you in the most important factor of the melee: staying alive until the end.

You all know who is up next. What else need be said. Possibly the most anticipated battle in tourney history, today we shall see whether it is the Legendary Good Boy, Wilbo Waggins or the terrifying shankster, Stabbo the Crabbo who shall clam victory.

We don't know how or why Wilbo joined the tourney. Perhaps he wishes to find a master to take care of him, and thus needs to prove himself worthy. In any case, it is with heavy consciences and mixed feelings we allow this pupper to fight. Hopefully, we aren't left with a bag full of regrets and a masterless cloth sock to dispose of.

Stabo is just an incredibly irate crab wielding a knife. He scuttled up to the registry and attempted to stab the clerk, which he took to mean was a challenge and promptly put him in a tupperware container. Now, this crab will go up against Wilbo, with a whopping 86 points in reserve. Should he win, this crab may yet prove to be an incredibly dangerous creature...

Now place your bets, ready your handkerchiefs, and prepare yourselves for the fight of a lifetime!

The fight begins, and Wilbo rushes over to the little red snippy thing that is Stabo, his tail wagging at dizzying speeds! Sniffing the quarrelsome crustacean eagerly, Wilbo is too late to avoid the crab's angery riposte, and yelps in pain as the steel knife cuts into him. Trying to fasten his jaws around the little warrior, Wilbo is stabbed again, once in the leg, and once in the paw. Unable to keep his balance, the poor pupper falls over, directly onto the upright dagger of Stabo! Whining in pain, the dog falls unconscious. In a callous act of abject evil, the crab extricates it's dagger, and readies itself for one final swing. As Wilbo's head is parted from his body, the angry crabbo waves it's pincers about, possibly celebrating it's victory, or possibly looking for a new foe to stab. A dwarf is sent into the arena armoured entirely in steel, and nervously picks up and puts the crab in an adamantine bucket, to await his next fight.

Congratulations Stabo, you have a whopping 502 points to spend on your upgrades. Jesus christ.
Rest in pupper, Wilbo. You never deserved this. Why were you ever submitted ;-;

The next fight features another of the deadly elemental men, Purple Fist, against the mysterious wandering elk man Herne. While the fight will be commencing shortly, we shall have a brief intermission after it is over, about 2 hours or so, before completing the next four fights.

Purple Fist, famed luchador, has come to test his mettle (or rather, mineral) against the best our tourney has to offer. He has no fear of death, and a vehement hatred of elves, relic of his time training under the dwarven masters of Kisat Dur. Trusting in his sharpened, sturdy body to be more effective than any weapon, we shall see just how far this interesting warrior can go.

The elk man known only as Herne is an accomplished pikeman, horseman and hunter. Lurking in the misty woods of the far north, he has come to seek new prey. We shall do our best not to disappoint this wild warrior, and await his battle with bated breath, curious to see what his pike may do.

Place your bets folks this fight shall no doubt be bloody and brutal.

The horn blows, and instantly the purple luchador lunges forward, ducking under the blur of bronze that is Herne's pike! His rock-hard fist rams into the elk man's stomach with vicious strength, shattering his ribs and causing Herne to fall back, hacking up blood! Bleeding internally and already on the defensive, the pikeman backs up, trading blows with Purple Fist in a savage display of what a true fight looks like! The amethyst man ducks and weaves, and expertly punches the elk man in his foot, dropping him to the earth with a fractured hoof. Clearly in pain, Herne grinds his teeth together, but is unable to prevent his foe's next attack from targeting his other hoof, also fracturing it! Clutching his pike to himself, Herne weathers a barrage of attacks, blocking and avoiding what he can, but unable to dodge them all. On it's own part, Purple Fist is confident in it's victory, the crack where it's mouth should be brimming with jagged, crystalline teeth. It's overconfidence is it's undoing however, as Herne spies an opening and attacks! Hissing, the luchador backs away, it's hand cracked and fractured! Purple Fist tries to regain it's lost momentum, but too late. Herne struggles through the haze of pain and blood, and wrenches back his lost ground. In a bitter struggle for life itself, the two clash with renewed fervor, and after a brief moment it is the elk man who manages to bring his pike down on the damaged amethyst man's hand, shattering the gemstone and shearing it off completely! Now screeching horribly, Purple Fist counterattacks with a low kick, his sharp and jagged limb plows into the elk man's foot and slices through the already wounded flesh, actually cutting off the hoof! Once more on the defensive, bleeding internally and externally, Herne is punched again and again! His chest, his legs, his whole body! The relentless assault even manages to fracture an antler!

Herne heaves himself up and ripostes, shattering his foe's arm, chipping it's leg, and even shattering part of Purple Fist's head! Seemingly unconcerned, the gem warrior lands a brutal jab straight into the fleshy throat of Herne! Hacking and wheezing, Herne nevertheless wastes no time in ducking low, before lunging with his whole body! The full weight of a large elk man behind it, the bronze pike pierces Purple Fist's chest, fracturing the gemstone, and shuddering all the way through! The craggy face behind the mask of Purple Fist morphs into one of shock, and the luchador staggers back, allowing Herne to withdraw his pike and slash at the gemstone warrior, breaking off an arm! Purple Fist tries to fight back, but the elk man roars, a frightening noise I didn't even know elks could make, and begins fighting at a level previously unseen in this tournament! Hacking and stabbing with incredible speed, Herne's bronze pike seems to be destroying the luchador's body with every hit, cracking and breaking off the amethyst in a storm of bronze! Heedless of his own wounds, Herne rips and tears at his foe, his breath coming raggedly and with flecks of blood spattering his chest! The amethyst man is soon reduced to a dimly glittering wreck, his clothing torn to shreds. Feebly wriggling on the floor, Purple Fist is basically just a cracked and brittle torso with part of a head attached. Still screaming, Herne raises his pike way over his head, to it's full height, before bringing it down straight onto the amethyst man! The blow completely shatters whatever remained of Purple Fist's body, and all that is left is a bloody pile of purple gemstone, as lifeless and unmoving as any other mineral. His breath rattling in his chest, Herne slumps beside his foe, mortally wounded, completely oblivious to the crowd and medic team rushing to his aid.

Great fight, well done Herne. You are the first gladiator to defeat one of the seemingly invincible elemental men! You have 177 points to spend on your next fight, prepare yourself well. Purple Fist, you are the first of the golems to fall, but perhaps it is your destiny to rise again. Fight well in the battle royale, and your vivification is all but guaranteed.

We shall now have a bit of an intermission, folks. You may all use this opportunity to refresh yourselves, collect your winnings, and perhaps go eat something. We shall resume in about 2-3 hours, whenever I am ready to continue.

When we return, we shall see how an olm spearwoman fares against a dwarf swordsman, though they be fighting with very different materials.

Carrying a fungiwood spear and buckler, this lightly armed and armoured skirmisher seems to be experienced in defending her underground home from the dangerous cavern creatues. What could drive her to the sunlit surface and compete in our tourney? None speak olm, so we have no answer.

Dorf is apparently just a regular old dwarf swordsman, who enters the tourney for no reason. This was all he deigned to say, so we'll dispense with any more speculation and allow him to speak with his sword.

BREAKING NEWS!

Crabo caught on tape sniffing cocaine and then by eyewitness reports seen entering The Blue Oyster Bar
Tournament Sponsors and Chief says they condemn this act of reckless and depraved behavior. Several members of the board of Tourney calls for Crabos immediate withdrawal from the tourney.
Some Sponsors of the Tourney says this is not the kind of Competitors we want to be associated with and some refuse to be interviewed.

depends on their swimming skill. if they're at least novice, they will keep going for a while. If they're not swimmers, they should drown relatively quickly.

I had a dorf once who fell into an underground lake and couldn't get out. he was holding on for a season or something like that, leveled his swimming skills quite a bit. but he died from something in the end, I don't remember what.

Immediately, Dorf rushes at the olm woman, his iron short sword bearing down with frightening power. Cimathi, slow to react, is slashed twice in quick succession! Once in each leg, the deep cuts cause her to fall, unable to stand. Hissing, she stabs at her enemy, the wooden spear flitting forward like a striking snake! The blow merely glances off Dorf's glove, however, the wood incapable of doing any serious damage. In retribution, Dorf hacks with his sword at Cimathi's left leg, savagely chopping at the pale flesh until it parts. The olm woman shrieks as her leg topples away, and tries to stab at the dwarven warrior once again, to no avail. Kicking at the outstretched hand, a sharp crack is heard and the fungiwood spear is sent flying, to clatter on the other side of the arena. It appears to be all over for the cavern-dweller, as Dorf piles on the damage, plunging his sword deeply into her chest. Coughing up blood, and with a rapidly growing pool of it surrounding her, Cimathi is no longer in any shape to fight back. Her final, pitiful, attempt at striking her foe merely results in Dorf strafing to the side, before bringing his blade down fiercely, cutting Cimathi entirely in half! His enemy dead, Dorf calmly wipes his blade, mutters an oath, and departs the arena, with naught but a couple of mild bruises.

A clear victory on your part, well fought Dorf. You have 230 points to spend on your upgrades for the next round. As for the olm woman, her body shall be kept in cold storage until the battle royale. Perhaps a spear made of a more sturdy material may have helped in achieving victory.

Our next fight is a bit of rematch, once more pitting human against elf. Hercule Poirot, a man completely naked apart from the lion pelt draped about his skin, against Esquies Drath, the heavily armed and armoured elf.

Hercule Poirot claims to come from "Greece". Wherever this far off kingdom may be, they have strange customs, for Hercule fights only with an oaken club and the strength of his muscled, oiled, powerfully homoerotic body. He keeps insisting he never killed his wife, under any circumstances. We never asked in the first place, but hey, there you go.

Esquies Drath has revealed to us he is actually an undead elf, brought back to life after dying in a prior tourney. He looks lively enough to us, so we're more than happy to take in this capable looking warrior. Confident in his weapons and skills, this elf is ready to once more win honour and glory in the arena.

Place your bets folks, the battle shall commence shortly.

Hercule initiates the fight, swinging his heavy oaken club at the elf, seemingly overcome by a fit of divine insanity. The elf merrily dodges this way and that, but the smile fades from his face as he is unable to land a blow, his sword bouncing harmlessly off the ever-ready oaken club. In fact, Esquies frustration turns to shock and pain, as the wooden mace slams into his hand, breaking the bones! Cradling his injured limb to his chest, Esquies has no time to react as Hercule forcefully body slams him! The two battle on more fiercely than ever, but even as Hercule lands a crushing blow on Esquies foot, his own hand is slashed by Esquies' sword. Still affected by the peculiar madness, Hercule swings his club, slamming it into the elf's head! The copper mask protects Esquies from the worst of it, but he is still rocked by the blow! Taking advantage of the confusion, Hercule slams into Esquies yet again, pummeling him with his club as he rises, before charging him again! The tactic is very successful, and while the elf tries to get up, the oaken club slams into Esquies' arm causing his sword to drop from nerveless fingers. The splintering mace pummels the elf mercilessly as Hercule refuses to give an inch, breaking bones, tearing with his teeth, and even wrenching one of Esquies ears off, Hercule batters his foe violently. It isn't long before Esquies falls unconscious, the pain blotting out all thought. Dropping to his knees, Hercule wrenches off the elf's mask, picks up his club, and begins savagely beating at the elf's head! Again, and again, and again and again. Frothing at the mouth and roaring in fury, Hercule steadily bashes with his club, until Esquies once handsome face is a mass of blood and twisted flesh. Finally, the skull shatters, and the head of the elf is pulped into a gory mess. Hercule, regaining his composure, flicks the blood and sweat from his face, before loudly rejoicing in his victory to the cheers and bays from the crowd.

Excellently fought Hercule, you maintained the pride of humans, and eliminated the only other elf in the tourney! You have 229 points to spend on upgrades on your next round. Esquies Drath, unfortunately your quest for glory is at an end. Or is it? You have another chance to snatch life back in the battle royale, should your prowess earn you victory.

I'm shocked however, both human underdogs defeated their better equipped elf enemies. The elves are seriously out of luck in this tourney, unlike the prior one. Perhaps the secret to elven victory is females?

The next fight pits Steve, a so-called wageslave drone ant man against the trashy and frankly unsettling human, Lady Krystalxxx.

A degenerate foot fetishist and worker all his life, this little ant man digger comes to fight in the tourney in the hope that his queen shall notice him, and reward him with a... uh... sniff, so to say. Armed with a pick and his unconquerable lust for feet, this ant man is a force to be reckoned with.

I don't even know why this woman wished to fight, she keeps nattering about thai food, her girlfriends Jenny and Stacy, and how she has a hot date later tonight with a supposed "Snodub". Perhaps her blowgunner skills shall allow her to defeat her opponents before they have a chance to get in too close.

Place your bets folks, we are nearly at the end of the first round of the Tourney!

I also made a mod for teabagging as an adventurer reaction you could use on corpses. And made the dwarves literally shit bricks when scared.

The fight begins with a flying wooden dart, hitting Steve right in the leg. The fragile chitin of the ant-man is chipped right off the bat, and the little insect man is forced to skitter over, one leg trailing uselessly behind him. Once he reaches his foe, however, Steve plants his pick directly into Lady Krystalxxx's chest, causing her to scream and choke on a sudden surge of blood. Before she can react, he catches her twice more, once in the upper body, and once in the hand, causing her to drop her weapons. Screaming and completely hysterical, the human leaves herself wide open to a direct blow to her stomach, the steel pick easily tearing through her flesh and spilling her guts. Pulling it from the steaming entrails, Steve swings the pick at Krystal's head twice, shattering the skull, and finally directly hacking it off. As the bloody head rolls onto the dusty floor, the ant man chitters excitedly, and waves to the corner of the arena literally swarming with his compatriots, who silently cheer for their champion.

Congratulations Steve, you have 292 points to spend on your upgrades for the next round. Lady Krystalxxx, the oddly named and ditzy human will have another chance to come back to life, should she prevail in the bitter struggle known as the battle royale.
For the last match of the day, we have dwarf vs human, in a classic axe versus sword matchup. Dákudos, a ptsd riddled dwarf trapped in a tree for 40 years, against the heavily armoured human knight known as Ulric.

Dákudos is a slightly unhinged woodcutter, chased up a tree 40 years ago by a swarm of keas. Staying alive through rainfall, apple cider brewed directly in the tree, and kea flesh, this hardy dwarf finally climbed down not long ago, and has come to the arena in a madman's quest for vengeance, despite the noticeable lack of keas in the arena.

Come to test his might, Ulric is a hardy warrior, preferring to trust in his might and sturdy iron armour than to dodge blows targeted at his body. His sharp and polished short sword is ready to be wielded, and his bright helm gives the tall and noble knight a regal air.

For the last time today, place your bets folks. Soon we shall be reduced to only sixteen brave gladiators, while sixteen corpses will have been prepared for the battle royale, set in the near future.

The fight begins, but barely has Ulric swung his sword and Dákudos is screaming in fear, his PTSD triggering terrible flashbacks to the years he spent in that apple tree, beset from all sides by the green demons! Running about and howling like a man possessed, the dwarf is chased by Ulric, who brings him to the earth with a well-placed slash of his shortsword. Still screaming as he rolls about on the floor, Dákudos is easy prey for the knight who stabs at the wriggling dwarf. It isn't long before the pain gets to the elderly woodcutter, and Dákudos mercifully falls unconscious. Wasting no time, Ulric readies his sword, and expertly decapitates the dwarf. Utterly disgusted and disappointed, the audience remains silent, and Ulric himself looks displeased with the outcome of the match. Probably hoping for a more interesting fight than what was presented to him. Well then, he shall just have to wait until the next round, where he faces Steve the little ant man warrior.

Well done Ulric, you have 236 points to spend on your next round. Not much is there to say about Dákudos, except that we hope he will not be affected by his unfortunate...hem.. issues during the battle royale.

Thank you all for coming, dear members of the audience. In just under a week, we shall begin holding the next round of combat, featuring the sixteen worthy gladiators who have thus far triumphed. May your managers prepare wisely, and keep a sharp ear to the ground for further tourney developments. It is a slight shame the last few fights were so brief, but alas, such is the nature of the tourney. One can only hope that later rounds are not so one-sided, and more fun is to be had.

But for now, goodnight!
