Has anyone tried mathing out a Requiescat before Fight or Flight opener for PLD? The common opener I see Paladins doing seems to favor going for Fight or Flight first, but that wastes a lot of potential MP by going 25-30 seconds of the opener just bleeding extra MP over 100%. I feel like something like Goring->Requiescat->Holy Spirit spam->Combos & FoF should end up yielding more total damage over time.

Stratos' crusade against the Diap has been noted.

Just so numbers can be shown, you can see a difference of ~2.5k dmg on single target between cleric (top) and non cleric (bottom+no crits accounted).

If each and every mob on a large pull is dealing -10% dmg that makes your hots and fairy more effective allowing you to drop more gcds into dps and less on healing. And by those numbers at least 1 gcd would make you deal more dmg than by using cleric.

i leveled miner from 47 to 60, hit 50 off leves, started doing collectibles, dragon obsidian is a collecting, just mash two appraisals and collect (only need 200 collectibility iirc) that's 20k per dragon obsidian, on top of the yellow copper every half hour, not hour. i also got a full level with manuals off the 55ish quest where you mine titanium.

Thus far I've found PLD to be the most fun of the tanks after the changes. You get two different burst damage CDs both on a minute cooldown that you don't just layer ontop of each other, a DoT to keep track of, and a few actual interesting choices to make about how to use your MP and in what ways to use your party-assist skills (Cover, Passage of Arms, Divine Veil, Intervention).

Level 23 currently and this game is NOT impressing me. Vanilla WoW was so much better.

Some quick math on this, since no one else seems to.

Represents 780 potency gain, assuming you get in 5x Holyl Spirits with the buff on (350 direct, 330 in bonus damage).

Is a little harder to math out, but standard usage is Goring Blade + 2x Royal Authority combos + 1x Goring Blade combo, this represents.. 3260 base damage, + 815 extra gained from using FoF.

Surprisingly, under optimal use both buffs represent very similar amount of damage (FoF leads by 35), although Requiescat's damage gains are actualized over half the time of FoF. Ultimately, this means we should not have a strong preference of starting one before the other, before considering other factors.

That said, by going with an FoF opener first, we sacrifice 3 additional rounds of MP recovery Riot Blade, and an extra 25 seconds of automatic MP generation (around 16% max MP). MP is directly convertible into damage for Paladin, with a 3x round of Holy Spirit replacing a Royal Authority combo generating 1290 Potency instead of 760, a gain of 176 per GCD. A single Holy Spirit lost already represents a loss far greater than the difference between Requiescat and FoF, making MP loss in the opener a real concern.

Now, one still has to consider the oddity of timings; Starting with an early round of Goring Blade is still likely one of our best options; it lets us get oGCDs going smoothly, and we can move while using the abilities of the combo, though we do probably want to begin the fight with a single Holy Spirit to make sure we get our MP out of Riot Blade in the combo.

TL:DR: I'm fairly sure the following is nearly ideal for PLD damage on the opener:

HS -> Goring Combo (Weave Spirits Within, Circle of Scorn, Shield Swipe) -> Requiescat -> HS x5 -> Goring Combo (FoF before GB hits) -> RA Combo x2 -> Goring Combo.

This is more of a song song than an ambient song, which is terrible for a zone. You want the music to be less imposing and create and atmosphere, which that certainly doesn't do.

Yes, the world pvp in Vanilla certainly was epic. Nothing would get your adrenaline pumping more than getting ganked when you're leveling, and then killing the ganker. The best feeling ever, and FFXIV has none of that.

It's just a pretty lackluster MMORPG in general, which is quite amazing since it's 2017 and no one has STILL made a better game than Vanilla/TBC WoW.

Assuming these numbers remain correct:
Pre-oath you're getting about 165 more potency thanks to AAs with FoF over it's 25 second duration, probably closer to 350 with Sword Oath, putting it's overall lead in potency over Requiescat at ~200 in Shield, ~385 in Sword. It's definitely worth noting, but not significant enough to warrant sacrificing half a bar of MP to lead with it still.

Why is there such a focus on DPS in this game even in tank and healing roles? I've been playing on and off since 2.0, so I know it's nothing new, but it still keeps me from maining either of those roles. Call me a scrub if you want, I just want to heal if I'm playing a healer. Sure maybe hit the boss when there's a lul in damage, but fuck man even as a healer you're worrying about your rotation and damage meters. Tanks are basically DPS that have to deal with different mechanics. I play a healer in every other MMO, but really cannot bring myself to in this game.

If you're doing progression there absolutely is, and people do care about tank DPS. As they should I guess, because tanks don't really have anything else to do. There's no active mitigation system or anything. For healers "I'll try to solo heal this part because we need your damage on the boss" and similar situations is not uncommon. I'm not saying they should never do damage, but it shouldn't be as imperitive as it is.

There's so much to do on your own and since I don't have to wait in queues for anything (unless it's for a very specific dungeon but even then it's like 1-2 minutes at the most) I don't need anybody else.

I'm not concerned with finishing the raids the week they are opened so I'm in no rush to find a group and plan anything beforehand. I'm also not an autist who spergs out if my group of randoms wipes because it's just a game. Even if we wipe a bunch of times I always just think "Eh, I'd have liked to have finished this today but I guess I will just try again another time and hope for better people"

Anyone else like this?

Higher damage output (motherfucking 10k crits with stoneIV+foes), more gcds to work around with, more ogcds so you don't feel as helpless if things go wrong, cards are somewhat frustrating if you keep drawing spires, ewers, spears and boles as they don't have much value.
