i'm facing a unique conundrum
i have like five classes that look fun as shit that i want to play

I have SAM at 70 and it's a blast but DPS queues are ass
so it made me want to level PLD which looks like it'll be really cool at 70, but then also I want to level AST because the new minor arcana look really neat thematically
but then also there's BRD's reworked songs and shit and it's fucking amazing
but also RDM is super stylish

So after having gotten to 70 on RDM, I've been thinking of trying out tanking for the first time. I keep hearing how PLD is the best now and that WAR and DRK aren't as good, but is this actually true? Surely they are all good at tanking in the right hands. Also aggro seems like a pain in the ass to hold for tanks, since I myself have taken aggro from the tank on a pull because of my enmity reducing role abilities being on cooldown. Basically, any tips you can give someone whose only experience in tanking is from other MMOs?

RDM takes aggro from tanks on pull b/c they open with 900-1200 potency of damage in 2 GCDs (Spell + dualcast + Fleche + Contra), other than that they're not hard to keep aggro on.

As far as tank balance, they're not as far apart as people make them out to be, but PLD has the most versatility in their kit by a wide margin, and no real downsides, the others have at least one spot where they're lacking.

Yes, it's completely playable, along with every class at the moment. This game has generally always had balance good enough where you can clear every piece of content with every job, so people's standards on what is 'completely broken' is a very narrow window, something like +/-10% effectiveness.

Mateus native here. I have a moral dilemma.

The server is now populated with cat slaves and gaylanders as you well know, and I'm seeing roleplayers everywhere. I've always made a habit of people watching and now there's a second wind on that, but I really don't know what the etiquette you Balmungers have is like.
