>What the fuck is this
/indie/ is the general for all indie games, such as LISA, Yume Nikki, OFF, Middens, Underrail, OneShot, Age of Decadence, Machinarium, DashBored, Vampire of the Sands, Braid, Limbo, Axiom Verge, Guacamelee, The Desolate Hope, Burrito Galaxy, Gone Home, Stardew Valley, etc. as well as other games that just don't fit in any other general such as Atelier, Rayman, Pillars Of Eternity, Rise Of Nations, and Valkyria Chronicles. Absorbed the /lite/ general some time ago.

Mobile or consoles, flash or unity, freeware or early access. This place is a home for the indie game community and indie and obscure games that don't have a home. So be free to talk and share all your hidden gems, forgotten games and starving devs here.

>Can I talk about games that already have a general?
We mostly discuss games that are not popular enough for their own threads (since they have no other home in /vg/), however, all indie games are allowed. So talk about them if you want, but don't overdo it since you already have other generals for that.

>How can I contribute?
All we need right now is people to talk about their loved indie and miscellaneous games, so don't be afraid to post, bump and reply your fellow anons. Also we're looking for anons to make new pastebins/wikis/images and update the ones already made. And please give lots of feel, love, kind and nice to everyone, except namefags. And be sure to make a new thread if nobody else does.

It's a BETA, they've already released a balance update. Pretty sure the devs are keeping an eye on the cards used and also playing with us. (those players with unique card backs) Make some decks and help balance it out. Send them an email with your concerns.

You didn't join the beta just to play a free game did you?

No idea why it didn't become standard practice.

I guess because a lot of RPGs rely on the waste of time as padding?
>>
>>181174802
Yes ESPECIALLY JRPGS.
>>
>>181174802
I think it's more because bogging down players late in the game with enemies that are significantly below their level is generally considered bad practice. If it's not a fight worth fighting, simply don't implement it.

You misunderstood, I asked why didn't auto-winning low-level fights become standard practice for RPGs

I've bought Aviary Attorney during the sale cause it was pretty cheap and I wanted to see what a game inspired by the Ace Attorney series would be like.
I've completed the first case. I like how the point and click investigation sections and the cross-examinations have been streamlined. It made it simpler to understand what I was doing and what I was supposed to be doing, so it looks like it will be easier to follow the logic without having to make logical leaps over some dumb bust.

>Finale
>Battle limit of 1
>Finale cannot crit
>Finale accuracy increased greatly
>Dramatically reduced base damage.
>Finale leaves a 12 round DEF debuff, to represent exhaustion.

>Accuracy increased
>Battle Limit 2
>Gives a 7 round +50% stackable damage buff to Finale.

I remember Myst had a little makeof that showed them holding a mic into a flushing toilet to get sounds for underwater.
>>
>>181226790
One thing I've wondered is, especially with more cinematic and big-budget games, if they use foley artists cutscenes like they do for movies. It seems like such an amazing job. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OONaPcZ4EAs

They probably don't have to sync it up like that and just have sound designers make practical sfx that get matched later, but I'd always love to see footage of a game studio doing something like that.
>>
>>181226486
You don't fall though everything, you simply end up in a void with no bottom.

The seabed suddenly becomes an unnaturally steep cliff that leads down into an endless dark void. I remember losing my Cyclops once because I went too far down into the void and it filled with water before I could get it back up to safe depths.

Oh the thing was still down there; the Cyclops was technically indestructible at the time. There was just no way to get it back out, though.

Distorted Travesty 3, genuinely one of the best games ever made. Like 60-70 hours of challenging, well designed action-platforming gameplay.

Thanks. Are there any good theories behind the weird stuff like the beating heart zone or the Infinity shadow guys? In Painful and Joyful, these things could be explained by joy causing hallucinations, but even if you don't take joy, you see this stuff anyways in Pointless.

I'm guessing there is something legitimately supernatural going on, since the "pink pill" you find says it has "occult qualities." And this pink pill might be something some other mad scientist cooked up, like how Arkantos mod had that ghoul scientist you met at the end of it.

It's a relatively easy fight. The two guys that are with you are pretty tanky so you can use them as meatshields. Killing the merchant first while the other guards are busy is a good idea since he has no armor and can deal quite a bit of damage if left alone.

There's more to just stabbing things than you might think. You have all those different attacks for a reason. Positioning, target priority, etc.are vital as well.

Not to mention nets, bolas, sharpening stones, bombs, poisons, liquid fires, stimulants and all the other goodies. The really good stuff is only available with high crafting/alchemy, but even without them there is lots of things that can help you.

Nto much to tallk about. You can throw them at the enemy's legs to prevent him form moving for one turn or thrown them at the head to choke them, prevent them from taking any actions for 1 turn and reducing all their defenses by 100 (so basically to 0) for 1 turn.

Choking can trivialize pretty much any fight as you are almost guarnteed to hit with whatever attack you want.

>Choking can trivialize pretty much any fight as you are almost guarnteed to hit with whatever attack you want.

For a single turn, and for a lot of AP. If you need the Bolas to begin with, getting in a normal or fast attack is not likely to win you the fight alone. And powerful aimed attacks usually start at 7 AP, so you better have max DEX, neurostimulants, or berserk potions to be able to do something with it.

Being almost guaranteed to hit a few arterial strikes is invaluable. Even one can easily change the outcome of a fight.

> And powerful aimed attacks usually start at 7 AP
Entirely depends on the weapon in question. Crossbow arterial strikes cost only 3 AP. Bolter arterial strikes cost only 2.

>you better have max DEX, neurostimulants, or berserk potions to be able to do something with it.
Yeah, those help a lot, especially stimulants. But you are still going to benefit a great deal from choking even without them.

Every RPG that claims to be "100+ hours of gameplay" is more like 30 or 40. There's no way that Grimoire is over 80-90 or so hours
>>
>>181371497
TF2 was probably meant to be fun for like 50 hours but I put 2500 into it.
>>
>>181371169
Crossbow is the only one that can do that, and only because of their low AP cost and the option to carry several of them already loaded.

Maybe dagger with very high critical strike, if the target is not too heavily armored.

With natural 10 DEX you only get 7 APs after throwing the bolas. You can't throw if from melee range, so if you have a one-handad melee weapon you need to give up 2 more APs to get in range. With a dagger that leaves you with, what? A flurry with a fast 3 AP dagger? An arterial with a slow 4 AP one? Not gonna one-shot anything that needs bolas.

Bolas are good, but they are hardly game changers for most builds.

For whom? For a casual player that's going to go through it once maybe twice and then be done with the game? Or for the dedicated player that's going to come back again and again? Because if it's the later that's nothing special. Any halfway complex game is going to attract those 1000 hours veterans. But labeling your game as having that kind of time-depth to explore is meaningless. At a certain point, a player who has played 100 hours of your game might as well have played 1000 because they're on board for making your game something to really master and explore and excavate.

Oh please with the muh humanity. Were talking about fucking Risk of Rain. If that experience really destroyed your soul you're a fucking mental weakling who would be better off dead in some ditch somewhere so yeah in that case survival isn't worth it because you're just worthless.

Hopefully CCN2 is longer Not sure I'll do multiplayer...

I tried anyways and it runs halfway decently on my potato at 720p and graphics on minimum.

Sure there's lots to be fixed, but all that seems to be in the graphics/optimization department. Gameplay is solid.

I dunno, it's still one of these games where you need a guide to figure most stuff, and the analyzer doesn't really help, and misses a lot of flavour stuff.

Still better than ARK "figure out how to tame dinosaurs yourself".

All you've made clear is you have no place in any discussion of anything moderate my philosophical because you lack the maturity to process any of it. The best you can do is reduce it to a binary survival or retain humanity but you don't have the capacity to actually explore the meaning of either and take it at literal and face value.
Grow up, or prolong your arrested development by making another greentext, continuing the assertion that there's only one other poster besides you, and writing a dumb quip so that you can get the childish satisfaction of getting the last word in.

What's necrodancer about? I watched a Speedrun, had no idea what happened.
>>
>>181445213

its a roguelite in wich the gimmick is that you have to move at the beat of the soundtrack

its pretty fun once you get the hang of it
>>
>>181446001
And what happens if you don't?
>>
>>181446185

you miss your money multiplier and potentially a turn

there are also pices of equipment that give bonuses to armor-attack-light levels depending on your multiplier, so its in your best interest to keep your key presses steady with the music

but this one character named Aria just dies if you miss a beat, wich is infuiriating even whith the revive item
>>
>>181446001
Crypt of the Necrodancer is actually a roguelike and not just lite. It has a movement gimmick to set it apart from the classic like One Way Heroics but apart from that it fits into the genre.
