Time for a betting pool, and the subject is horse archers.

Horse archers are currently the only generic enemy exclusive weapon/movement type combo present in Fire Emblem Heroes. Clearly playable ones will be added at some point, but the question is "who?". Let's go over the possible guys.

>Archanea

Castor promotes to Horseman in later versions of FE1 and in FE3, and is technically the "first" horse archer. However, he couldn't promote in FE1, so that title goes to...

Wolf and Sedgar. Wolfguard buddies and reclassed gods in the remakes. The classics, these guys could easily be on a banner together with other Wolfguard guys.

Warren exists in FE3 and could be also be in as a promoted Horseman. Beck trades his Ballista for a horse in FE12 making him possible too. Finally, Robert from BSFE/FE12 is a prepromoted horseman as well.

>Valentia

The remaining Villagers(Atlas/Cliff/Gray/Tobin) are all potential archers but Gray and are generally shown as a Merc and Mage respectively and I think Atlas was a cav in SoV promotional footage. Tobin however is strongly pushed as an Archer so he joins Python and Leo as possible Bow Knights.

In FE4, Midir and Lester fit the bill. For FE5, we have Selphina and her lackey Robert as well. FE4 bad guy Scipio was on the CYL page so who knows, maybe he'll somehow get in.

Pretty much Rath/Sue or bust. The thing to keep in my mind is that almost every single character in Heroes comes in their default (ie. not promoted) form with the only exception being Eliwood. This immediately writes off Warren, Gaiden gang, Neimi, etc. and doesn't leave a lot. Lester and Midir probably aren't popular enough to warrant an inclusion into the few Jugdral banners we'll get. Same situation with Astrid. I wouldn't completely write off the Wolfguard, but I'm not sure they'll do a cav centric banner with only new characters. Dayan and Shin aren't probably aren't popular enough. Rath however was reasonably popular and Sue was actually quite popular in Binding Blade and comes with the bonus Waifu appeal. My money's on one of these two or a villian/ limited unit.

Mercs are less broken on Alm's route due to all the armors and def heavy cavaliers and not enough good swords to go around without a lot of forging, they absolutely trivialize Celica's side though. I'd put Archers above them for Alm's side since bows put in a lot of work with the easier to double enemies there and Barons don't come around until Fear Mountain to nerf that damage output. Archers are also the best bait for enemy archers(which aren't rare by any means) since they can draw them in while countering if not outrange the ones not carrying a bow weapon.

Clerics are broken on both sides and would be the best class if mercs didn't have infinite stat looping, but that's irrelevant for tier listing so they should get put above mercs period.

Pegasus knights would be worse than soldiers for Alm's side if they didn't have their high movement and easy access to weapons/skills that do extra damage to armors and cavaliers since their damage output is pathetic without Armor Crush or the Knightsbane/Rhomphaia. On Celica's they help a lot with dealing with monsters and bypass all that difficult terrain.

Mage is hard to rate as a class since it's so dependent on spell lists, I'd actually rate male mage higher than female for the increased spell accuracy on promotion, swords are useful but Dread Fighters have priority on those with their better movement and only optional ones and Celica have the skill to make use of the good ones(Zweihander/Ladyblade).

Honestly, though, IS doesn't have to mess with the numbers for this shit to be rigged. The last round proved that for the most part, the multiplier does nothing in the long run. The real problem is that Fates/Awakening will almost always win because the simple fact of the matter is that they have more exposure, and more people know them. The only thing that subverts exposure in marketing is sex appeal, and it's not like any of these girls are Camilla or Lyn but with a staff.

I'm not 100% on the context, but I imagine a lot of people that played Awakening and then picked up Conquest for the anime tiddies felt betrayed.
