What about 99%? Well, some of that money is still ending up with the charity itself so you know, it's still fine. The slippery slope is that if it's unethical for GDQ to not state X budget allocation of the charity, it then becomes unethical for GDQ to not state where the rest of the charity's budget is allocated.

You know when you go to a store and they have a little box for you to drop coins into for scoliosis or diabetes or whatever? Have you ever noticed that the entire budget for the charity isn't written out on that box? The same concept applies here.

Charities pay businesses to fundraise for them. Every charity does this, without exception. You know the box I talked about earlier? The business that manufactured the box got paid by the charity to manufacture the box. The company that owns the charity's headquarters? They get paid by the charity to lease the headquarters. The box manufcaturer and the landlord company are under no moral or legal obligation to disclose that the charity made these purchases. It is the charity's job to disclose this themselves.

And yes, if someone is stupid enough to donate to a charity without learning where their money is going, they deserve to lose their money. Just like how if someone is stupid enough to eat at McDonald's every day of their life without doing research on how trans fats raise your cholesterol levels, then they deserve to die of a heart attack. It is an individual's responsibility to be an informed consumer, especially in a society where there is already plenty of regulation mandating transparency on relevant information.

The charity probably assumes the event is similar to any musical fundraiser where the organizer pays big bucks to get the big names to perform to raise more money.

The fact that Mike and the Jew Crew are getting away without paying the runners is criminal. The speedrunners need to actually rise up and demand payment. They can't fall for the "donate your time to the charity" excuse when the charity is most likely under the assumption the runners are getting some reimbursement already.
