Not specifically about the card game, but it's still about YuGiOh:

I want to start working on an RPG based on the Duel Terminal stories, starting with the first DT storyline with the Worms and the Fabled and junk. Because the perspective is constantly changing between the different tribes, which one would work best as a starting point for the story/who would have the main character? There isn't even really a centralized character from each tribe that would work as a party member from each tribe.

Any changes I should make to the deck? This is for locals so I'd like to curb costs (no barrage). I shoved in the Zoodiacs and Ghost Ogres since I couldn't think of more stuff to put in that I liked.
I'd rather side in ogres going second and I'm iffy on the tenki but it ups the chance of getting a zoo card first turn by like 10%. Chakanine over Broadbull for the cheaper 2mat and Thoroughblade over Whiptail since no Broadbull to search it and I can draw into more Magician stuff if I open too much Zoo.

You can run a lot of stuff nowadays to speed gears up, we're no longer in the age of "pray double geartown gadget dragon turbo"!
Burial goods can ditch stuff like cyclone or catapult for easy access, engines like Cyber dragon/Jizukiru can help fill space too. Balancing the deck with spell destruct like double cyclone and field searching like set rotation+gateway to chaos can really make the deck something to never underestimate. Dont forget glow up bulb into nat beast also works, and lord almighty overload fusion makes me thank god CAGG is a dark.

They can bounce back from shut downs since the combo requires no normals, plus Fortress makes it so they literally cant do anything to chain/destroy/target your combo pieces. Gears arent the best deck out there but they can do some damage if left unchecked especially against decks like 60 card zoo that like to end with big boards ripe for an otk

Gears are decent desu, as much as I love em they wont win worlds anytime soon. Bloody hell its fun to whip it out at a locals and watch the confused look hit your opponent though. The fact that 2 of them have effects that outright ignore effects is just beautiful to me. Combos are really satisfying to pull off too like Summoning a reactor dragon with geartown out, smashing something, summon another one by popping geartown, and making a rank 9 like calamity at mp2 for your opponent to have fun with :^)

Actually VFD is just something extra to end your fields with, generally if you arent going into a fusion (say for par a D barrier) you usually just summon a reactor and duplicate it with geartown. Then you either go into VFD or Enterblathnir, pic related. Starting boards turn 1 usually end with either a Cydra infinity (Instant Fusion into Panzer and Cyber Dragon), Chimeratech Fortress (Jizukiru to Kaiju them and Cyber dragon) or a Howitzer to set up and wait for them to build a board.

Ancient Gears really depend on the variant you want, since the new ones are so different than Gx era gears. For a special summon variant imo the faster and more competitively viable variant

I forgot set rotation was a quick and could set geartown to be popped by reactor, that shit seems funny to pull off if D.barrier hits you, which is rare because if you have fortress out and you fuse with doggo, they can't chain it afaik. But still, that seems busted.

Its a lot slower than the SS variant but its really fun to whip out every so often and even dodges a lot of things like vanity at 0and some SS floodgates.

Drill Synchron and that other Tuner that isn't Deskbot 001 aren't worth it, cut them.
Run Dogoran instead of Raidan, so you get more out of your Trade-Ins. I would personally also run Deskbot Base, even though it does make your Machine Dupes dead. It shuffles back bricky Deskbots (and even additional drawn copies of Base) so you hopefully draw that 003 you desperately need in time. Speaking of which, run 1 Deskbot 009. It turns 003+Machine Dupe into a 2-card OTK.

As for the Extra Deck:
- Scrap Dragon's a must. Spot removal that triggers 005's effect.
- Run at least 1 Deskbot Jet. No, seriously. It also pops shit like Scrap Dragon but can SS Deskbots and rack up huge stats. He's better than Leo.
- Clear Wing & Crystal Wing. Self-explanatory.
- Herald of the Arc Light >>>> Hasturr

1. You would start off with a base deck and each time you would win a duel you would get the choice of 1 card in the NPCs deck or money to buy boosterpack or individual cards. So much like IRL you would have to grow your deck over time
2. I'd limit it early in the game but as the game goes on more and more advanced stuff would be added in.
3. Maybe. Depends strongly on what you want to do. But there would be no ban list in this. So if you get three pots of greed, Enjoy it.

Well, Harmonizing Magician is a one card Beelze/Scarlight/Enlightenment Paladin when pend summoned, and I feel like that utility would be a bit more reliable than Absolute + Vortex since Beelze ignores destruction shit, Scarlight is a board clear + burn, and while Enlightenment Paladin's probably not totally needed at the moment; he combos well with purple poison and double iris and his spell recycling is pretty nice.

That's just me though. Your build looks pretty good though.

I'd say start with the first 4 TCG Structure Decks - Dragon's Roar, Zombie Madness, Blaze of Destruction, and Fury from the Deep - if you want to start with an early YGO, low-powered feel, otherwise, I'd say give a choice between all pre-Zexal Structure Decks.

I just got into a duel where I played Struggling Battle against a player with two Doras on the field. He only had the two Doras, and I had no cards other than Battle.

He chained both of their effects, and the log confirms he that he targeted each of them, so both Doras should have been immune to card effects. However, he still had to banish one of them.

From what I understand, the reason that happened is because Battle works like Gozen Match or Rivalry of the Warlords, where the effects affect the Players, meaning it affects even cards that are immune to other card effects. Am I right in thinking this, or am I wrong about Gozen/Rivalry and this was a bug on Pro?

For reference, Battle reads:
>At the end of the Battle Phase, if your opponent controls more cards than you do: Make your opponent banish cards they control face-down (their choice), so that they control the same number of cards as you. If you control no cards, you can activate this card from your hand.

Petdeck shit usually costs around a dollar and since tcg limits the amount of cards you can put up, most people don't bother listing their entire .20 catalog of superheavy sams, only their most expensive stuff alongside a few stragglers. So it turns into this thing where you have to start buying random junk from multiple lots. It was much more manageable at a dollar.

My friend once made a 40-card Infernoid that was basically turbo into Void Feast for 2x Decatron and a Sjette. He was more or less able to pull it of every turn due to Void Vanishment and it was annoying having to deal with 2 negaters as he always sent Onuncu and Devyaty.

The most you could hope for would be Konami supporting an official non-Link format, or scrapping the extra deck restriction rules. More likely though, they would just direct more focus on Duel Links and less on the card game. While I don't like MtG, I do envy one thing about the game; it has multiple formats and people actually play those formats.

MR4's unnecessary restrictions on the Extra Deck and Pendulums just really put me off.
