Well, first you change how Sonic behaves: run speed, jump height, turn radius, how much downward force slopes have on him, etc. Then you build the level around your customized physics. Yes, out-of-the-box, Sonic has specific physics values, but these can be easily changed. Pic related are only just some of the values that you have the freedom to control.

I honestly believe that Sonic 06 is 100% responsible for Sonic's friends taking a backseat. Iizuka panicked and shut down all other gameplay styles, which is why we're getting yet another game with "two Sonics" rather than another character.

But Forces is bringing back characters talking in stages, and the Adventure-style 3+ playstyles. If it's received well, I do not believe they will bring Classic Sonic back again, next time it will be a different character. Either new, or pulling from Sonic's pool of friends.

In the Rivals games and Colors DS, Silver travels from the future to the past without the use of a third party (i.e. Mephiles in 06). Silver is from the future. He traveled back in time in both Rivals games to prevent Eggman Nega (also from the future) from ruining the world. In the second game, he and Espio defeated Ifrit (basically not!Iblis) and sealed it in another dimension. He appeared in Colors DS where he informed everyone that his future is now bright and colorful and everyone's happy, so now he just goes back in time for kicks.

Blaze is a princess from another dimension guarding the Sol Emeralds. She appeared again in Rush Adventure where her and Sonic once again recover the Sol Emeralds and prevent Eggman and Eggman Nega from using the Jeweled Scepter (imagine the Master Emerald for the Sol Emeralds except as a scepter) to destroy the dimensional barriers. She appeared in Colors DS for I forget what reason with her and Silver doing the "have we met?" "don't think so" routine. With the Sol Emeralds and Jeweled Scepter in her possession, she can now travel between worlds at will for kicks. That's it for her outside of cameos.

Silver is from a ruined future and is the student of Mammoth Mogul, an immortal chaos wizard who's Sonic's enemy in the present but repentant in the future, and Edmund, a descendant of Knuckles. His deal is to go back in time to find a traitor of the Freedom Fighters who will cause the ruined future, with him getting it wrong and getting his butt kicked by Sonic every time. Eventually Mogul tells him to sort his shit out and gives him one more opportunity to make things right with him only being allowed back home once he fixes things. Silver gets it wrong again resulting in him being stuck in the present for a period of time where he joins a group of Secret Freedom Fighters. Eventually he figures out that the "traitor" is Sally, who was roboticized against her will. He helps Sonic subdue Mecha Sally so they can save her, and then the reboot happens.

Blaze has Rush and Rush Adventure happen in backstory. Her first appearance involves Shadow and a Metal Sonic jumping into her dimension; the two team up to destroy the Metal Sonic and Shadow hops back home. Later a Sol Emerald ends up in the prime dimension; Blaze teams up with Amy and Cream to get it back. That's it for her until the reboot.

Silver gets a new backstory where he's from a dystopian future controlled by generic cyberpunk dictatorship council of psychics. He runs into a scientist named Von Schlemmer IN THE COOLER who discovers that the time-space continuum is under threat by stuff called Genesis Portals. The two team up with a member of the psychic council named Gold and start hopping through time and space to stabilize things. Silver runs into Sonic and helps him fight off Metal Sonic and Ifrit before peacing out.

Blaze has been confined to her dimension. Amy and Cream end up there and the three fight off a pirate Metal Sonic to recover the Sol Emeralds again. She was supposed to get a team-up arc with Bunnie but the comic was cancelled before that happned at least we got abt's pic

To my knowledge, Blaze and Silver have never interacted in the comics.
