They'll throw off new or inattentive players that don't bother to check the potential movement the dancer allows, but more often than not a dancer will just launch a unit into suicide because they can't not take the bait.

What's the point of LaD on a Blárblade build? I understad LaD for quadmemes, since the tome only has 9 Mt and you lose 5 speed, but not for a bladetome.

Blárblade with Fury gives you 42 Atk and 40 speed. With a Hone buff and 1 Goad the speed goes to 50. The 2 extra damage from LaD over Fury seems irrelevant since you're using a bladetome that'll reach ~70 damage, and the 2 extra speed (the difference between 46-50 or 48-52) doesn't seem worth it anyway. You'd want to get that at the cost of 8 Def and 8 Res compared to Fury?

Ardent Sacrifice + Desperation seems solid, althought losing a movement assist seems costly.

The point is that he has stupid-high HP for a ranged unit so he can take advantage of Panic Ploy at a safe distance and still be useful. Most high-HP units are either frontline or worthless. Being a frontliner means you'll lose that HP advantage for Panic Ploy quickly, and holding a frontliner back means they're doing fucking nothing but being a passive ability. Most units that can actually do things at a safe distance lack the HP for panic ploy to be effective, but Virion can do all of that. He just lacks offense, but that's why a support-focused build works.

So I know Celica gets a lot of shit for trusting the blue man, and for being such a bitch as Zofia Castle but it actually makes sense when you consider her character arc and how it conflicts with Alms.

To begin with: pretty much from the time she's a little girl, she was raised in a monastary; it's implied that she's extremely devout several times in the story. Unlike Alm, she puts her faith in the Gods rather than the will of man, and she's bound and determined that the only way to fix the problems in Valentia is to appeal to the Gods. That drives her entire story; if she can't get the blessing of Mila, she really feels has no hope of ever ending the conflict or saving her country. Reaching the Temple of Mila and finding out that King Rudolf had somehow managed to kidnap Mila struck a serious blow in her hope, and it was in that moment of despair that Jedah found her. Pieces really aligned for him there.

The second thing you have to keep in mind, and this more informs the events of Zofia Castle, but still plays a role in her being so willing to offer up her soul, is that she's known for her entire life that she is the Princess and people are trying to kill her. She knows her birthright, her heiritage, and her duty. Zofia is hers to protect, and in her mind, she's solely responsible for that protection. She's quite aware of the sins of her father, and is determined not to make the same mistakes he did.

She, at least, is going to be a good ruler. She's going to stand for her people, not just lanquish in a castle.

The defenses she gains from Fury are negligible, if someone gets the drop on her she's likely not gonna survive. That 2 Atk and Spd actually make a difference, especially when you need to consider any skills/buffs the enemy has.

Fury is the much better budget option though, and most of the time you won't be missing much. LaD is just for extreme min-maxing.

Luke comes with a useful kit from the get go, +Atk on a brave sword user with decent attack is always nice, just slap drag back on him so he can pull whatever survives to your ranged nukers. Eliwood is a glass cannon that reaches sky high attack capable of 1 or 2 shotting lots of things with cavbuffs once he hits 5*, but his defense is lackluster so if he fails to kill it can be dangerous. He has the res to run an anti-mage distant counter build if desired, though the usual build of choice is a DD with Desperation or Swordbreaker to kill as many things as possible when he initiates.

This gauntlet sucks. I joined team Elise and appearantly she only had multiplier twice when I was asleep, but beyond that I have 70k points on her team with 10-30k placing while being global unranked. So from the very beginning you have a girl who's been raised as the Princess, who lost her brother at a young age, and found a new brother in Alm. Alm was so much differant than her, and yet so alike in many ways, that they forged a quick, strong bond. I think the moment she heard Alm was at the head of the Deliverence, she knew that it was extremely likely he'd succeed in routing Rigel and restoring Zofia, and that it was extremely likely he'd be offered the throne, and that he'd accept.

In her heart, she knew he wouldn't do it out of pride, or out of a lust for power, but because Alm is the kind of person who does what needs to be done. Not out of nobility, but out of the goodness of his heart, and that stirred up a lot of feelings for her. She was, after all, the rightful heir to the throne. That was her duty that he was going to pick up, her burden that he was going to bear, and if there's one thing Princess Anthiese hates, it's someone else bearing her burdens. She conflicts with Alm pretty heavily here: he's the kind of person who knows the value in sharing your burdens, and it was this idelogical conflict that was at the source of their conflict.

For Alm, restoring Zofia was as simple as trying to find the Princess, and if that failed, taking the throne himself to keep the country alive and prevent a power squabble. Again, she knew that he wasn't trying to grab power, but she'd spent most of her life silently knowing that she was the Princess, and mentally preparing herself for the day she might have to step up and rule. She held a sort of mysticism for the throne, this thought that it was her divine right and responsiblity to lead, and that it something sacred, something to be taken very seriously.

So between being afraid of losing another brother to Rigel, to feeling like she had failed in her duty as the only remaining Zofian Royal, to not wanting Alm to take a burden she felt was hers alone, she was not in a good place.

One of the things we see throughout her arc is that need to take other's burdens, to deal with her issues all alone. This crops up in the story, where she's willing to seige a pirate keep on her own because she feels is it's the right thing to do, all the way up to the end where she kept Jedah's offer close to her chest. You can even see it in supports: a lot of her support conversations are very outward, to the point of deflecting when the conversation turns to herself. She helps and advises her friends, but very little is spoken about herself and her desires. Again, this stems from the knowledge that she is royalty, and the need to live up to that ideal.

So at the start of Act 4, when she first meets Jedah, the events at Zofia castle are still hanging over her head, the knowledge that Mila, in whom she puts a lot of her faith, has been defeated is weighing heavily on her. She never saw Rigel or Duma as evil, just as another god, one who was in opposistion to Mila. A tragic, senseless god, but not evil. Jedah coming to her, in her mind, wasn't an evil man trying to trick her, it was a fellow devout trying to fix the issues in Valentia.

Both Jedah and Celicia believed that the path to peace in Valentia was only through the will of the Gods, and that's why he was so effective in convincing her, even if she didn't want to die, even if she knew that accepting the offer would make her a Witch. Between her devout nature and appearant fetish for self-sacrifice, she was pretty much ripe for the picking when Jedah approached her, and I think if she had followed her original plan of heading for the Temple of Mila on her own, then there'd have been pretty much no delay in her accepting the offer, beliving she was both freeing Mila and saving Duma. What happened, though, was she had made friends, stopped seeing Zofia as this faceless mass that she had to protect, and instead saw it as the home of her and her friends, a place she wanted to see prosper.

Celicia is a kind person, and she didn't want to see her friends suffer, so her huge thing in Act 4 is weighing not wanting to upset them by sacrificing herself, and the belief she had that the only way foward was saving Mila. Yes, she wanted to confirm Mila's safety before she threw her life away senselessly, but she also hesitated to leave her friends.

Act 4 really throws things at her from both sides. On the one side, she can see Rigel is suffering as much as Zofia, she knows that Alm is also pushing into Rigel, and so she has an interest in quickly ending the war before anyone was hurt. Remember, her journey started with a dream of helplessly watching Alm fight and die; if she could prevent that, it would be a tremendous relief to her. On the other side: Conrad showed up. She grew closer to her friends, and started to really see the people of Rigel as well as Zofia. For the first time, she was seeing the world, and she wanted to live long enough to see it grow strong again.

Unfortunately, her flaws won out. Alm was in danger, suffering, and she wanted it to stop. Valentia was still decaying, and she felt obligated personally to correct it.

In her mind, her life only had the value of protecting her people and her friends. If she believes that offering her life is the only way to accomplish this goal, she would give it freely. Jedah never lied to her, but if he had told one lie, if he had said Duma needed her before she could free Mila, then she probably would have given it up freely and fully, and there'd be no hope of saving her.

Her resurrection was still bullshit, but this is Fire Emblem after all.
