Thinking about ideas for a new hero. Had this pop into my head:

Name: Luc de Jaager
Species: Human, South African, mixed-race
Native language: Afrikaans
Role: Attack
Appearance: Portly, kinda tall man with deep tan skin in jungle-appropriate jacket and shorts, wearing somewhat-stereotypical safari gear and carrying a lever-action gun.
Backstory: A park ranger from South Africa, Luc protects animals from poachers. Assholes keep poaching elephants because omnics I guess?

Main weapon: Guide Gun. A lightweight lever-action hitscan rifle that packs serious punch, but gives major recoil. 100 damage per shot with good accuracy and a firing rate of one round per 0.75 seconds, but the crosshair spreads out significantly until another 0.75 seconds pass. Capacity of 5 rounds.
E: Wildlife Tracker. Jaager attaches a gadget to the muzzle of his guide gun, which takes less than 0.5 seconds. Pressing E again removes the gadget. Left clicking after pressing E the first time will remove the gadget, expend a round in your Guide Gun's magazine and shoot a projectile which, if it contacts a foe, does 30 damage and makes them visible through walls for a short period. Has a medium-long cooldown.
Shift: Camoflauge. Uses an active camoflauge system to render Jaager invisible. Can only be used near walls or while crouching, and limits his movement speed. Lasts longer than Sombra's invisibility, takes longer to recharge.
Ultimate: Charge Stopper. Jaager plants himself firmly, locks on to a single enemy and, after a second or so of delay, jams a stripper clip of 10 short overpressure rounds into his gun's loading tube and unloads them rapid-fire at a speed comparable to Fan the Hammer (with a technique similar to that used in the intro of The Rifleman: https://youtu.be/9IVCwYPjFXc [Open] ). This ult is designed to eliminate a single high-priorty target and cut through things like Sound Barrier or Transcendence, but can be countered by Defence Matrix and especially Zarya's bubbles.

Tanks are not meant to one hit KO people, but Roadhog could, so instead of using him as a tank people were using him as a 600 HP DPS who was better at DPS than everyone in the game not named Soldier and who flanked better than everyone. Now he can still get picks, he can still pull people out of position and punish them, he still has massive sustain and CC, he just can't do a retard 2buttons combo on half the cast and has to use proper teamwork, call outs, and timing like everyone else.

That's why his is at <2% pick rate now in the latest meta report.

It's amazing how hogshitters don't realize how much damage Roadhog puts out now or used to put out. Pre-patch Hog could literally oneshot squishies with M2 if it was perfectly spaced, and even now it will do 70% of your health. This is without counting the chance of a crit. He can spam M2 at midrange, hit you twice, and you're going to lose at the very least, half your health. And now he can spam it much more often, much more forgivingly.

He can even still oneshot people, it's just now you must tack on the melee to guarantee the surefire kill or you have to walk forward for a split second before meatshotting them.

It just goes to show Roadhog players are the dumbest people in the game, pretty much as reliant on their crutch bullshit as Mercy mains. They're not creative, they're not adaptive, all they do is bitch they can't kill everyone in their line of sight anymore.

I feel like roadhog just needs a little bit of a buff in a different direction now. OHKO from hook was always a dumb design idea, but the idea of a big beefy tank without shields that instead brings the enemy to you is a solid foundation
Focus more on his niche

Winston used on defense is similar to attack. He's not an anchor and you shouldn't use him like one.
If you want the anchor role, Orisa or Rein is much better, yeah.

That said, Winston is totally usable on defense, but you have to know how to play him (and he's probably not the best pick if you only have a single tank unless their team comp is entirely squishy). I know I'm personally not good at it, but it's more than doable.

The best way I've found is to use cover to fuck with them and distract them
Even if you can't outright kill them, cover lets you harass them for a lot longer, and the more they focus you the less they'll be on your team. If you're lucky this will also mean your team can attack them for free.

If the Pharah has good aim then you can be kind of boned sometimes in terms of outright killing her, but it's really just spamming M1 at her and waiting for her to slip up or for you to get a lucky headshot.
Attacking the Mercy first is usually a good idea but I've found the Pharah is an easier hitbox target so I just go for that. It's not a smarter idea, but it's more consistent for me.

I dunno. There's not really any magic bullet solution or strat that I'm aware of, which kind of sucks. At least, not unless you can somehow consistently hit headshots.

The damage isnt being dealt, it isnt producing charge for the enemy, its effectively "Stopped" or "Blocked" or however you'd like to put it

The fact that you are neither slowed/stationary (As rein and orisa are) and the fact that you are dealing good ranged damage and have access to your hook, which is always gonna be a very strong tool.
Hooking a dva through her defense matrix or really just hooking anyone forces the enemy team to react and come at you, all they can do is either kill you or disable you or you're gonna fuck up their teammate

This is essentially "Tanking for your team" by forcing the enemy to hit you.
As we've said many times the issue is, Roadhog isnt really tanky enough to survive all that incoming pressure, even while healing.

I practiced a lot with Sombra and I've really only had luck if my entire team is on board with just rushing the point. This is just my experience though and Sombra isn't my best character. Alot of times the defenders on 2cp maps will have their whole team holding the choke and no one is at the point. Sometimes I'll just switch to sombra to sneak in and get them to disperse back to the point, allowing my team to get past the choke. I have a hard time playing an entire match with her. Also if you're not using her hacks as much as possible, you ain't playing her right.

Reaper main here. After his buffs a bunch of fotm players keep instant locking him, they can't play him anywhere near as well as i can).

So I'm playing more Zarya now. Should I be using my ults to get as many players in it as possible even if the mercy isn't there? Or should I be just aiming for the mercy even if I only get 3 players instead of 5?

her ult is just coming too fast while being useless on other areas. this is a excellent reason to buff her gun and hacking for instance.

even if not increase the DPS of her gun, she could have faster reload and her hacking could slow down the ROF of many enemies.

her ult rate nerf would come from the healing packs, but it would be halved, since she gives a 100% recharge buff to the packs, it makes sense for only a half charge from them becuase the other half is natural from the pack
