You know, after Isaak's spiel to Kei, and after a reread of Kei's route, I've realized just how pathetic Kei is.

All her antipathy towards Ren is based around the fact that he's better than her. He's getting stronger than her in battle, he's got a far stronger mind and personality and he's on the moral side of things. Take when Heydrich first appeared. Kei was so scared she's practically broken, and can't even perceive the possible route of saving her family by rebelling against it. Ren just kept on trucking regardless.

The only time she can display any actual strength is when she has Ren dealing with all of her issues. And even then, she needs him, or she just kills herself off.

You can't measure VNs in terms that you measure let's say cars, speed, reliability, 1-100mph, the quality, addons, all can be measured objectively, however everything in VNs mayhaps except quality/amount of work put in is straight up subjective, the type of story, genre, archetypes, length, whether someone likes long common or straight to the action, chuuni or moeshits, personal preferences, everything is up for debate and personal taste.

Sure, you can tell a better vn from a mediocre vn, but what we are discussing is putting side by side the best of the best according to public opinion and majority of the readers and try to judge whichever's the best and that will never ever work, because in that case personal bias goes ahead of objectivism, since objectivism is extremely hard to quantify if not unquantifiable in those titles.

Finally finished Dies Irae and all its other stories. Can't say I was a fan of the fights, it usually ends in some form of interruption or sudden power spike. Rea's extra story epilogue felt really underwhelming compared to Marie's. Expected something as good after completing Marie's epilogue. Beatrice in the epilogues were fun as hell to watch though. Hakuoro finally getting to go home, Haku becoming the new God, and the whole world just finally starting to heal was just spot on.
