It depends on what you like. I'd avoid Island Paradise altogether. Into the Future added some neat stuff and I honestly really enjoyed bumming around the future world and the robots. Supernatural is fun if you like occult sims, magic and that kinda thing (though I modded out the full moon zombies). I liked Pets but some people really found them annoying so that's a personal thing.

Sims 3 was awful too. Big proprietary games usually have bad modding sites made for making a profit, but at least let people get mods for free (nexusmods). I think since the Sims has a lot of dress up elements, people will look for niches. And you can inconvenience people a bit for niches, since they get what they want in the end.

Basically, because people will put up with it. If there was more of a community, I'd be up for mass mirroring everything.

And Sims 4 obviously takes it even further as the name-pool isnt just your "average" American names but Asian,Sandnigger and nigger names too so you end up with niggers with normal names and normal sims with nigger/sandnigger names.

Any recs for custom Sims 3 towns

I need something like the default town, Sunset Valley

The town needs to have
1. lots of spots for placing lots
2. public lots like junkyard
3. shitty area for poor people (like the swamp from Sunset Valley)
4. different areas (like how it's just swamp in Sunset Valley in one place, deserted in another, wooded area elsewhere and so on)

Just bullshit sims to a minimum. I don't want a town full of vampires, werewolves and fairies.

And no interracial households

I have no idea if anyone's actually interested in my Sims antics but hell.

Here's the two dudes I'm working on at the moment. They're in separate households so I switch back and forth. The dude on his phone is Levi, a heartbreaker vampire with a level 9 career as a musician. Due to the fact that no one even at their highest relationship levels will let him drink their plasma, he's taken to... well, not asking for permission anymore. For some reason, he thinks the guy on the ground is grade-a material. Gets a Divine Drink moodlet every time we visit.

Dude on the ground is Ash. He's a romanticist kleptomaniac who lives in a tent and gardens for fun. He's dating one of the basic male sims and lives next door to the Goths, where he picks up all his lamps.

Me too, objects in particular... Take Jungle Gyms for an example. Sims 1-2-3 had relatively basic/general one BUT in 4 while we have 2 they are both more unique as in you know the huge pirate/space-ship thingies for kids in parks.
I wish they would just pick a direction and stick with it, i admit Into the Future was okay and bot-making in particular was 5/5 for Sims 3 but apart from the bots i never used any other objects from the pack and only visited the Futureland once to experience it.

Give me something like pic related, and pool-tables while you're at it.

it's an expansion pack, you should think about the other stuff that comes within it. Various hairs, objects, decor, clothing. If you have money to spend, I would get it. If you wanna be caught up in TS4 it would be a good idea to have all the expansions and game packs at least.

If you don't have the cash to spend for whatever reason, I would save the money or buy something else.

I usually start out with one. Level him up a little, get married. Then help them get their skills and stuff to achieve their ambition and max out their career path.
As soon as at least one of them has reached the top of the career ladder I move on to kids.
Once a sim has reached the top of his career I leave him on his own a little more and start focusing on the kids. I'll still check in on him, or control him when I feel like it, I just don't worry about him so much.
With both parents at the top of their careers I basically leave the parents to their own devices and basically focus on the kids and getting their skills up. If time allows I'll also check back on the parents and try and help them achieve their unfulfilled ambitions if they haven't already.
I've had households with 8 sims and following the above recipe things went okay.
I must say though that single sim households are still my favorite though. Being able to dedicate all your attention to one sim is great. It always gets lonely though and I start bumping up the numbers.
