New crafter here. Is it a waste of time to try and Observe/wait for Good quality to use Tricks of the Trade? I'm guessing it's rigged so you can never actually gain CP by doing it.

There is never a time where observing would be worth the CP cost when you could gamble on a Hasty Touch or something of the manner.

The one VERY VERY NICHE AND ONLY USED IN ONE VERY SPECIFIC CIRCUMSTANCE IF YOU'RE SUPER PLANNING ON IT is if you have a bonus CP to spare at the end of a high level craft, you've just used Great Strides and want to fish two rounds and hope a Good quality pops up to hit it with Byregot's Blessing at the very end of the craft. This almost never happens though.

Well, first things first, if you didn't unlock collectibles it's from Morgayne in Foundation 10x 10y.


Click your clock til it says ET for Eorzean Time, when it says 6 am/pm a node will spawn in The Fringes, you can only see it with Truth of the Forests on.

You'll see a bunch of question marks, click the third one, and use field mastery 3 to unlock it, should be a beech branch. then i guess you could try to proc DEs on it, but it needs to be 450 collectibility to turn in.

Once you've unlocked collectibles you'll get a skill called collector's glove, you need to turn that on next time you gather beech branch.

rotation is simple once you get it down.

Discerning Eye > Impulsive Appraisal > if proc then Single Mind > Impulsive Appraisal > if proc Single Mind > Methodical Appraisal

When it doesn't proc you just press Discerning Eye again instead of Single Mind.

Discerning Eye has a 30% chance to trigger from Impulsive, what'll happen is you basically keep the DE buff for the next swing, so if you lose the buff it did not proc.

Once you're 61 you can gather from another node as well, as you can see it's much better exp than grinding or leves.

you don't even need a gathering rotation, get at least 600 GP, preferably 650, walk up to a node that has +gathering attempts on it or an unspoiled, assuming its discovered already, just start the process, Discerning eye + Single Mind -> Methodical -> Discerning -> methodical -> methodical -> gathering buff if you have the extra GP, collect as much as possible, repeat for as long as you need

Okay as a brand new crafter, first things you'll want to do:

Get Culinarian to level 15. This unlocks Hasty Touch to use on your other crafters as a cross-class skill. This is like one of the most -required- skills in all of crafting.

Get Weaver to 15, this is for Precise Touch. 100% chance to succeed but only 90% progress strength. This cuts the amount of RNG you need to rely on by a huge amount.

Alchemist to 15 for Tricks of the Trade. This lets you trade in a Good proc for 20 more CP, later on you'll stop relying on Good procs to continue and focus more on building Inner Quiet stacks with Hasty Touch

From here on you'll want to get at least all of them to 15, Goldsmith next probably. Then Culinarian to 37 for Steady Hand 2.
Eventually you will need to get all your crafters to 50 if you want any chance of being a decent crafter. It's a huge investment with great payout at the end.

I have no idea why RDM generates so much AoE enmity. I have to keep Lucid Dreaming and Diversion on cooldown, and even then I still pull enemies off DF tanks during their cooldowns so it really doesn't help. As far as I can see, if they struggle with RDM they'd have a harder time vs BLM's AoE

On single target, it makes a bit more sense simply because the opener is hilarious. You will land a 300 potency attack on the pull, procing both Dualcast and the spell's Ver____ ready through Accelerate, then use dualcast on the other Ver spell you didn't hardcast, so that's 600 potency in a really quick time. It doesn't take too long to hit the 80 threshold for melee, since you just need 40 for Manafication to throw you into it, and Embolden is really good. RDM and SAM enmity are both really good on single target.

For hairstyles you get a quest at lvl 15 in limsa. It has you travel to all 3 major towns and then you can call the hairstyles in your inn to change hair and some tattoos/other minor things.

For whole look and even race you need a fantasia, you get one for free for your first sub payment (30 days) and you can buy more in the mogstation for around 7 euro.

Why does PLD have a 25% damage buff that lasts for 25 seconds and only a minute cd?

Hi guys!

Been playing this game a couple of days as a conjurer but found out that spamming stone all day and healing wasn't quite what I had imagined. So I've snooped and looked around and basically narrowed it down to either Marauder (then WAR/DRK) or Lancer (then DRG).

Which one would you reccommend? I'm looking for varied gameplay and some responsibility in a group, though the latter isn't neccessary.

It should be noted that dummy parses are, as always, unreliable. BLM can sit and turret on a dummy freely. It'll be better to judge when we see Omega's first tier, just to see how each job's DPS drops when mechanics are factored in. RDM's dummy parse is far higher than I had expected, though

You can put it in your mog station, under "use friendcode", there should be a button. (Unless you are still trial or have paid your sub).

Some textures are a bit rough, admittedly. But part of this game's history with 1.0 where they focused TOO much on graphics (a flower pot having the same amount of attention to detail and polygons as the player models, for example) makes me prefer this. I'd recommend using a reshader on the game though. This game has this hideous way of washing out the color, but using a reshader makes it look so much nicer and brings the colors out.

its really one of the things I enjoy about this game, when I went back to other mmos for a while I was pissed as fuck that they "saw" me even with their back to me.

So I know they replaced cross-class skills for DoW/DoW with role skills, but what about professions? Do you still have to level cook for its practically mandatory cross-class ability? I've been thinking of getting into crafting, namely leatherworking so I can make the company hat for my RDM (which has been going for like 300k on Sarg) but am unsure if it's worth doing all that.

There's 2 types of mobs. The most common are ones you can walk behind, out of their FoV, and they won't notice you. The other are ones that will hear you when you run behind them. You can set your character to "Walk" for these mobs and they won't notice you when you pass by them.
It's really great and the second one is not really used as much as i'd like.

If I used all the roulettes/challenges on one class and ran only MSQs on the other, which would level up faster? I'm level 69 on my main class but only up to the level 65 MSQs and wanted to start levelling something else so I didn't do what I did in HSW and not level up any other classes and miss out on a fuckton of exp because i didnt have any other classes near 60 at the time

Crafting is still an investment so if you want to craft, do it because you find it fun and/or necessary.

All 15, CRP50, and CUL37 are still mandatory, yes. The new skills like Careful III, Rapid II, Manipulation II, these make things like WVR and GSM not as necessary as before. Also Specialists at level 60 (50?) get some actions that make up for lack of cross classes.

If you're looking for specific things, especially easy 60 stuff, you can always just buy the mats and ask a friend (or server PF) for someone to make it for you.

You need to get into the Novice Network, its the only real Global Chat that FFXIV has. Theres usually a lot of discussion in there and lots of mentors willing to help out.

Just find someone with a crown on their head and ask them for an invite.

There is no easy way to find FCs or Linkshells, you just need to find people and friends who already have them and get invited to them. Theres lots of people here too, but you need to tell us what server you're on before we can help you more.
