Well pick at them with siphon when you can, usually as soon as they drop their shield since there is a delay in activation for it. Sometimes you can bait out their entire shield by just holding and then melee cancelling siphon. If you can manage that you can get a core off them at least. If you can get them to give chase and try to catch them off guard with a rocket salvo that's a plus too. Having them catch a salvo isn't that big a deal though, since you can dodge the return pretty easy. Basically just play super defensive until you can get an opening or someone else draws their attention. It's not a favorable matchup, but not impossible.

I'm new to the game. Which weapons are hitscan? Which aren't? I was using the Volt earlier and felt like I had to lead my shots or something but my aim is probably just shit.
Also, does anyone use a reticle overlay? Which program do you use if so? I've used Playclaw before but right now I have Origin and Titanfall 2 sandboxed so Playclaw doesn't seem to detect the process.

My friend stored his account on my PS4 and I'm playing a little bit of the multiplayer.

It's astounding how fucking bad the movement is in this game, even though they tried the double jump/wallrun thing. Everything feels stiff and there are a bunch of surfaces you can't even wallrun on.

They even do a similar thing with ability kits which is also useless and overcomplicated.

It makes me appreciate how smooth everything in TF2 feels. Firing West and Zampella was a mistake, Infinity Ward.

Yup, same with this one. It also appears to be inherently a negative thing to do in IW since the "wallrun area" seems to be only one of the three lanes of the map and there's always a person camping that area.

This game requires split second decisions and most of the time an enemy pops up in your vision you're immediately thinking about firing and not whether or not it's a fake holopilot. Even experienced players can be tricked. Smartly using a tactic to force your opponent to make an incorrect decision is a good thing.

It's like saying "oh you shouldn't perform that risky gambit in Chess cause what if your opponent is too smart for you!?" The whole fucking point is to throw them off their habits and come in for the kill while they're distracted.

I could understand if the argument was "the effect of Holopilot can be mitigated playing against vets since they know someone is running HP", but calling it a 'coin flip' is ridiculous.

i see now, i'll admit that in my experience holo is pretty much useless compared to my main grapple in almost every game mode except for amped hardpoint. I consistently get top of the leaderboards in that because it locks players into fighting over enclosed areas that are prime hunting grounds for a holo pilot

What bindings do you guys use for titans? Not being able to bind a pilot skill and a titan skill on one button is fucking annoying. Holding down sword block is a pain in the dick unless it's a mouse button, but then I have to press keyboard buttons for melee which interferes with movement either way.

It's a twitch shooter, not Rainbow Six Siege. The only point at which a player will be hesitant would be if they are aware that a player is using a holopilot and recognize their name, and even then just the distraction of a different target can make a huge difference.

The immediate reaction of your average player and even higher level players is to mow down anything that's orange.

In my experience holo pilot has always worked when the enemy is either unaware of me or has no line of sight on me. As far as I can recall everytime I have jumped behind a corner/into another room and sent a holo pilot back has lead to an easyish kill. I don't always kill them, but the holo pilot always buys me some time.

You are either going to run into new players who will shoot anything that moves out of inexperience or veteran players who will start shooting out of reflex. Holo Pilots unpopularity is its greatest strength. In frantic situations it can even throw people into disarray, especially with holo nova as you create so many targets at once.

Not to mention those satisfying executions on pilots who thought they were going to execute you.

I don't know why players who are generally pretty smart about picking out a Holo pilot while outside of a Titan go full retard the second they get in one.

Try it for yourself, throw out a Holo while within the LoS of a player-controlled Titan. 80% of the time they're going to lose their shit and attempt to get a melee kill on the dummy that is walking in a completely straight line while making no attempt to fire on them.

also, the AI will fall for a Holopilot without fail. This includes autotitans. Use that to your advantage if you need to bully a bounty titan or solo a reaper for whatever reason

So Scorch and Legion are variants of "Ogre", Ion and Tone are "Atlas" and Northstar/Ronin are "Stryder"?

And Monarch is based on the Vanguard Titan that BT inhabits?

Even though this is unrealistic and would be ridiculous, I'd like to see a fully customizable titan where you can like pick and choose different elements of other titans, but they balance it by it not having super strong abilities of its own. Kind of like the Recruit from R6:S.

I moved from Battlefield to Titanfall in part because there weren't platoons in BF1 (so I assume /bfg/ died before they were introduced in April, but I could easily be wrong) and I couldn't play with my /bfg/ bros like I could in BF4. oops, missed the rest of your post. yes it takes some getting used to; there is a skill ceiling and its fairly high. the ttk is low, so you will die a lot. learn the movement system, learn your way around maps and try out different weapons for more than a few games. regen a weapon at least once, or even just level 15 or so, to see if its for you. just a few games of playing a weapon or tactical isnt enough to get a good handle on it.

id advise you not to take the game too seriously. when you first start, you are going to suck and die a lot. this can be really frustrating if you let it get to you. but if you keep at it, you will get better. its a fun game. single player is excellent too.
