TERA has customizable titles where you can type anything without censorship for others to read about your character. That would require the ability to preview a character and take a peek at their gear, stats, etc etc.

They seem to be going in the right direction. Scribing could be used for player housing as well with cheaper recipes that craft decorations only usable in player homes. I'd say give it time, I'm sure it'll happen eventually. Also there should be some seamless and easy way for visitors to enter your home without the use of a squad because the megaserver system in guild halls is still buggy. Guild Halls really shouldn't be used as player homes because nobody will see or use the expensive decorations and upgrades you craft

Macros are useful for setting up events. I didn't have music in mind. They can also be a roundabout way to make your own macros. Just as an example, in FFXIV i used a macro to cast quickcast and summon a faery while doing the /blowkiss emote. It was kinda cute no bully.


Saving chatlogs is useful for making a timeline sort of things. Some guilds keep track and make a coherent backstory/catch-up reading on websites. The amount of screenshots that would need would be huge.

Small additions to emotes are minor. Somethign as simple as eating at a table, drinking, or as trivial as having a basic talk animation goes leagues to making RP immersive. They added the talk emote, but its just a constant loop, its rather lackluster. It should only play when you actually talk in /say

I can see the strife caused by not using Pyre. He seems like a good choice to be a bow representative. But lore wise hes not as interesting as Kalla. She is the reason the flame legion isn't in power anymore. Pyre started the rebellion, but Kalla ended it.

One of the mistakes Anet did with the current elites if give them ZERO lore or reason to exist. We still don't know why or how revenants exist. Rytlock is literally the only canonical one.

We can hope they're fixing this and having some sort of lore tie in with collections, or possibly how you unlock them. We already journeyed with Pyre in GW1, Kalla is untapped lore.

You spend the whole time missing skills between having to unlock skills and having the skill slot be level locked.
I made the mistake of unlocking the dwarf early and had a very bad experience when i went into water with zero skills.

If we extrapolate from what they did with gliding, and to a lesser extent the LS updates, they will likely just be zone-specific thing used to get to areas otherwise inaccessible/dangerous to attempt on foot, and fewer waypoints per zone. Given the masteries there seems to be a combat aspect too, which implies there's some stuff that may be only defeatable mounted.

I think it's probably less likely that they'll introduce mounts to core/HoT zones though, since I doubt there's going to be too many instances of people doing whatever the mount equivalent of "Jumping off cliffs and forgetting they cant glide" would be.

It REALLY depends on how exactly they're implemented. The masteries info seems to indicate that at least two mounts will specifically have a vertical component to their movement, with one (the manta) stating the height can be increased - that sounds like it's closer to actual flight than the gliding we have now in the core maps.

is there an easy way to "shard / IP hop" in popular maps?

the reason i ask is that there's someone i know who always idles AFK in Divinity's Reach. i thought they were parking their character in a weird location, so i enlisted players in a "50g reward scavenger hunt" to find that player. it turns out that they were idle at the Ministers Waypoint -- the first place i ALWAYS check for them -- but i never get into the right shard. only one of the 15 or so participants did, and yes, they scored the 50g reward (and i was able to briefly get into their map).

i can't always enlist an army of scavengers to scour the various shards until someone gets lucky enough to pull me into the right one, and eventually i'll deplete my 4000g stockpile if i do. so is there any good way to independently shard hop? i only have 2 accounts, and once they're in a particular shard, they usually seem to get sent back to that one.

Hiding on dying maps is a tactic used to evade stalkers, as they'll either need to be on that map once the 1h count down starts, or they'll need to party up with someone on that map.

If they idle with anyone else, perhaps guildies, see if you can get a taxi into that map for your stalking purposes. GW2 has a lot of pro-stalker features (especially dealing with the friend list, and showing people who are appearing offline), but the game doesn't have as much stalker support as you're hoping for.

Ive been put into seperate shards even though my guild was inside already. I've been in separate shards where each of my party members seemingly went to separate shards.


Being in a massive guild that can nearly take up a shard by themselves helps, as does having a bookface style friends list but you don't have any active control over what shard you get put into

All the datamined hairstyles that_shaman has shown on Reddit are going to be accessible to the players, right? Surely ArenaNet won't keep them as NPC assets, r-right?

They all come on human heads to preview them, so I'm guessing they either haven't started on asura, charr, and sylvari or it's all assets for humans in Vabbi and the Crystal Desert. Though I'm sure there's plenty of charr, norn, asura, and even some sylvari in Elona because the Order of Whispers still had the ability to travel between Tyria and Elona under Kralkatorrik's nose and Kralkatorrik created the Brand and blocked access to Elona in 1,320 AE. The sylvari are older than that. Human NPC's retell of a peaceful and lovely Elona even under the rule of Palawa Joko, too, so visiting before the Brand happened was probably a feasible option.

Some of the heads modeling those hairstyles or lack thereof seem to be of Palawa Joko's Awakened. He still commands the undead and the living to join his order of ex-Sunspears known as the Mordant Crescent. Those guys were rumored to be fighting it out versus Zhaitan's Risen minions to keep Elona free from Zhaitan's influence. Nevermind all the Branded just North of their territories who are probably more prominent nowadays thanks to the lack of new Risen being animated to take place of the slain ones.

I doubt Awakened options are available to human players from the makeover kit, so datamined hairstyles could very well be just as locked to NPC's as those models. Although I do hope we see more Awakened races serving Palawa Joko, his lich powers were indiscriminate with dead centaur, human, and maybe even grawl minions serving him.

So I just now figured something out - not THAT Anet will never give us a new playable race (because that should be plainly obvious),, but how they set themselves up so they basically CAN'T.

So let's assume for the sake of argument it would be tengu. They end up cheaping out and just slapping the charr skeleton on them, tweak some emotes, make a meme dance, and they're ready to go.

Okay, well, now they've got to do personal stories, six of them if they want to keep the experience even with the other races, But unless they cheap out an play the exile angle they're also going to need a their own city, but they have the dominion of winds all nice and fenced out, so they just have to empty out into caledon for their lowbie shit. Fine.

Okay...so, they're obviously expansion content, but do they have to go through their own storyline in core tyria? Do you want to play an expansion and not do the expansion zones? Is their story set pre-zhaitan, with an expansion opening zones that are set literally years after Zhaitan's death? If it's not, do they get a completely NEW personal story set at the present time? If so that's an entire expansion's worth of content already, with no more room for people who dont want to play weeb-birds.

All of this shit woyld have to be taken into account and designed around by ANET. Anet, who literally doesnt fix issues with an entire race's armor because not enough people play them.

There's no real way to add a race to the existing framework of the game, and it would require WAY more effort than Anet would ever invest to even half-ass it.

They could always do what WoW did with things like death knights and demon hunters and just give them a short, quick story instance that says "this is how you got here and why you're different from every other class/race" and leave the rest of the game vague enough that you don't need to ask questions.

You're right though, the base game is kinda set up so that everything revolves around the fact the PC went through the personal story, otherwise they never would have joined the pact, led the pact, slain zhaitan, slain mordy, etc.
Everything is presented as some kind of chain reaction from the personal story, building up the PC as someone who lived through very specific things.
The amount of effort it would take to work a new race into all this is way, way beyond ANet's reach.
