HW is a lot better than ARR which is bad because you get shit like tanks being shit or Dragoon pressing 1 sometimes 2 buttons until level 26. If you can deal with the horrible shit that is ARR you'll enjoy HW. Also MCH is a lot of work for little reward. Their main combo relies on either RNG or comboing certain abilities to make it 100% proc instead of 50%.I like the idea of MCH but just not worth the effort.

I was talking about mechanics and the order you get your skills at. PLD doesn't get shield oath until 40 and lacks any form of AoE damage, DRK is hidden behind the MSQ grind, and WAR is pretty solid early on due to overpower. Until they redo PLD's leveling experience and tanking abilities to be on-par with WAR there's only one real option for new players tanking and that's WAR.

This. Tanking at lower levels is manageable with decent gear but I also have experience with other classes and can make it work. For newer players anything but WAR as a start tank is overwhelming and I've seen plenty of newer tanks catch heat for not holding hate. PLD getting shield oath at 40 is just silly honestly.

It really doesn't desu. It takes so long to get to a solid spot as PLD that usually people will hop to WAR due to the grief you gain as a PLD. Why spam flash when you can go WAR and spam overpower? Why spend those 10 levels with no tank stance when you can just go WAR? The best thing you can do as PLD is to just do PotD but you don't learn your class like that and you're still more useless than a WAR. PLD just needs a god damn rework. Dragoon too because spamming Impulse drive for like 18 levels is fucking dumb.

I wanted to level a PLD as my tank for snowflake points but had to stop because it was a terrible experience. Better voice acting, generally better dungeons, a lot of frustration as you try to unlock aethercurrents to be able to fly but realized 2-3 zones are hidden behind quests that you have to wait until your mid/late 50's to unlock, scrip grinding, GGL grinding, hunts, glamour grinding and I think that's about it. After that it's pretty much depends on what you want to focus on though considering how close we are to SB you probably won't be reaching end-game in anything.
