Yeah I know what you mean. I've bounced jobs constantly since I started playing, the longest I've stuck with a job has been playing BLM since the RDM announcement just to get used to the FFXIV caster lifestyle. Planning to only level RDM to force me into staying as one specific main job.

If you're worried about the level 60 gear for your SAM, don't stress it too much. You'll naturally gain some tomestones from your 60 to 70 grind to make up for whatever you were short, plus the new level 61 and onwards gear is going to catch you up to item levels required pretty fast. There's no way they'd lock out new players from story content after level 60 if they weren't BIS pre-expansion, so the gear requirements pre 70 can't be high at all.

it's easy to hate on things that are used by the majority, being an autistic hipster grown man, but let me tell you the very good reasons why face 1 is the most common lizard face

every face has something shitty about them
face 1: pointy chin, thin lips
face 2: droopy eyes, wide mouth
face 3: droopy eyes, weird ass smiling mouth, massive baguette horns
face 4: neckbeard, even more space between eyes, thin lips, elongated philtrum

out of all of them, face 1 is the only one that lets you customize the shit parts away. chin 3 is no longer a weapon, one of the lip options is even fuller than midlander and elezen lips. the eyes can slant in any direction instead of just one. also little to no scales because if you like scales you're fucked in the head. making a lizard is about unfucking it until it looks reasonable, and face 1 is the only face that's flexible and doesn't make you bang your head against a wall in the process because no matter what options you pick it looks barely different from the default

It's never about the antagonists, it's about the different cultures of the Beast Tribes coming together, and in the case of HW's three (four if you count dragons) it's about Deftarm learning to look past his own meager experience to see the strength that each individual's upbringings and culture can bring to solving the problems that threaten to destroy them all.

So how much of this game is solo only quests?

One thing that bugged the hell out of me when playing Secret World was how all the storyline quests are solo only. And I hear this game is worse in that regard.
Is that true?

As someone who played both games for several years, I would say story is slightly better in 14, but a lot of western players don't care about story, and TERA doesn't force story onto you like FF does. Questing/leveling is way more fluid in TERA in that respect. EME is cancer though and only cares about the cash shop has no real power to improve the game and Blue hole only cares about Korea and is ignoring security holes/slapping band-aids on things.

Optimization is shit in TERA, game breaking-ly so at times, 14 is pretty smooth even in zerg fest pvp. Something 14 does right too, is disconnect gear from currency. I wouldn't say TERA cash shop is pay to win since it so really expensive and gamble-y but you exchange real money for ingame currency quite easily and in line with the ToS. Imagine if the best gear in 14 was penta melded crafted gear. You can just buy gil and get there. That's basically where TERA is at. Sure you can buy clears in 14 but you risk a ban buying gil and you still need 7 people to carry you.

Theres a lot of storyline quests that don't really require (and some even force you out of group) cooperation, but every other level theres a new dungeon, trial, or guildhest that requires a group. Your job quests every 5 levels (and then every 2) won't allow anyone to help you on them since they test your skill and gear.

I'm almost at 60 on MNK. I'm not sure if I should either get it decently geared or hop right on to leveling something else to 60, given the MNK changes. Should I bother doing any beast tribe quests at this point?
