Complete new dungeons for leveling up all commanders, release prisoners in groups of 5 and use pokkuru to get more levels on rance. In my experience archers are pretty terrible with the exception of isoroku. (And her cronies who are still very disposable.) Also try to get all the reinforcements from zeth because magicians are basically better archers.

So I've been playing Sengoku Rance for awhile and it's a lot of fun.

But I'm wondering if there are any Rance games that aren't so punishing as Sengoku? Like the game constantly forces you to be either defending or attacking and there is tons of content you can miss if you make the wrong move.

Any Rance games with a more casual pace or similar games?

Those aspects make it not as fun to me. There's just way too much micro management. You have to plan out your moves so precisely and it takes the fun out of the game.

If you like the characters you might want to go through the Rance 1 discord, Rance 2 translation, play Rance III and IV and then go on to Rance VI.

Rance 1 to IV are all really short.

Rance VI is the game which is real strong on plot.

Little Princess on the other hand is pure bullshit. There are points in the game that are impossible to logically deduce the answer. And one of them is a key point to finish the game! How the heck did anyone figure out that giving the bamboo shoot to Keiko will get you hint to progress in the game! Nothing indicates it at all!

Heck, even the "Beat Dracula" portion is gotten from kissing/raping Keiko, isn't it?

I just looked that part up in the walkthrough, I honestly see nothing wrong with it. The natural thing for a player to do is to power through the maze (because they have no other option), find the girl and get teleported back to the start and then once again power through the maze because once again they have no other option.

I still think that the part of Rance I that I mentioned is worse. Sure, you know that the girl in the dungeon is important, but there's no hint that you need repeat the option to talk to her an absurdly high number of times. I don't even think her responses vary until you hit the sweet spot, even if you were trying to brute force your way past the point in the game that you're at there's still a good chance that you'd miss that.

All of that info is on the wiki, it varies based on route. As for actually answering your question - they never conquer it but they can make them declare war on you in the Kenshin route.

This is all on the Wiki. In the True Route, the Demon Army will not conquer the following houses:
The One Eyed House
The Asai Asakura House.
The Tanegashima House
The Hara House
The Tokugawa House (although if they are vassaled, they will declare war on you and will conquer Toukaidou if the Oda House controls it)
The Tenshi Sect
The Imagawa House
[and the Oda House, obviously]

As for the other routes, in Isoroku they'll only conquer Shimazu and Houjou and in Kenshin they can take the Shimazu, Takuga, and Mouri houses. IIRC there's no auto-conquers in the Demon King route.
