One thing to consider is that Adam's speech is all about hate up to that point, and it's a major fascination of his. So hate or kill would seem more in line with that.

On the other hand we have the fact that 9S straight up allows 2B to kill him, and even kills himself when she can't take it anymore, because that's the only way they can keep being together, so how much could he really hate her?

It's a complicated relationship to say the least, so no one can really say for sure what it is.

I'm kinda disappointed in the side materials for nier automata, the ones for the old games would always add something to the world building or the characters, meanwhile I feel all the Automata side stories are about feeling bad for 9S all the time. They aren't bad but outside of the second concert story they really don't add anything to what was established in-game

It means the scripts were limited and probably sold out; more importantly, we don't know how many were sold. This is a weird argument. In my opinion it doesn't invalidate it unless you expect time to stand still and ignore how stories are linked within the DrakeNier universe. It's not weird if you believe that good stories come in complete packages. It's one thing to add supplemental lore through side material, it's something entirely different to add new endings to the MAIN STORY. The ending is there to drive home the point of the story. When you suddenly start adding more things after that you are fucking it up, and you are making the original product an incomplete package. Nier and Nier:A don't invalidate anything just because they're sequels, they don't invalidate anything because they're so far removed from the stories they're sequels to that you can only barely even call them sequels. They're like brand new stories that have nothing to do with each other aside from being in the same world. They're self-contained sequels done right (except for Nier which is not that self-contained).

I'd be legitimately pissed if Taro suddenly whipped up a new ending for Nier:A. I don't think it really matters if the story is directly about them anyways, you can still interpret it as having the same meaning for their relationship either way. It just seems narratively more feasible to think of the ws' as frame stories, since most of them deal with similar themes to the game, but are not directly part of the plot in any way.
