Both Memory Cage and Memory Thorn should've been a part of the game as endgame VN sections somewhere inside the Tower.

You are right, I think I've made a wrong conclusion from this. As I've read concert script it is clear that losing memories is worse than a death for android. And 9S was willing to do it if it means that 2B will live and he will meet her again, if it will be only 2B who kills him. This is sad.

definitely this. Soul Box boss had gay band move set for a reason and we know how it ended. I am not entirely sold on the idea of adam/steve actually fully merging with 9S, he definitely wasn't schizophrenic even at the top of the tower.

It doesn't seem to me like much of anything that Adam says makes sense directed at 9S, unless he's somehow predicting that 9S is going to go crazy homicidal later after 2B dies.

We know that Adam himself is obviously infatuated with hate, and views it as a defining aspect of humanity. So I feel like he's basically just projecting his own negative feelings about humans and his own obsessions onto 9S - and, by extension, also onto us, the viewer - rather than truly saying anything much about how 9S really feels.

So I'm not sure the **** actually means fuck or kill or really anything at all about what 9S desires, but is rather Adam's assumptions about what we - the humans he is so cynical about - desire. And he's just lumping 9S in with us because he assumes that all life at it's core must be driven by hate and vile desire.

I was doing route C and got to the part where 2B and 9S detonate their black boxes again after getting swarmed by the mind-controlled YoRHa soldiers. The screen went white and has stayed that way. Has someone actually beaten the final DLC challenge in the Flooded City arena legitimately yet? I've only seen people God Mode it. If so, what's the strategy?

So far, I've tried stacking taunt ups, crit ups and weapon attack up chips and such to basically get massive damage output against taunted enemies as A2 using Crit+ weapons too, but the problem with that is that every single hit just straight-up kills you. Even with Overclock and the Evasive System, it still happens way too easily that some stray projectile or an offscreen enemy happens to hit you and then you're dead and need to do the challenge all over again. Then I've tried stacking all defence and health up chips, which actually do let you take a hit, but you also need to slot in some chips to recover health and preferably use Phoenix Weapons and Angel's Folly to actually recover health after a hit, since you can't use items. That means the only thing I could fit in to increase attack is a perfect melee attack up chip, and with that I still do way too little damage.

If you use Nines, and you use hacking chips, and the pod program "Slow", you'll find that Slow resets after every hack, and if you run sprint/dodge circles around the arena while charging Slow, you can usually trap all of the enemies inside the radius, and blow them up with the AoE from the hacking

I haven't beaten all of it yet, so I'm not sure how it holds up, but don't forget you can make multiple chipsets and switch weapons mid-fight, so you aren't locked into it, you're only locked into being Nines

And since you can't really find a ton of time to use A2's taunt, I suggest rebinding the pod flashlight key for taunting to something more friendly

I have the PS4 version, by the way. I hear that the controls are clunky on the PC with the mouse and the keyboard, but it's just perfect with a controller. I really want the next game to go even more deep with the sci-fi tech. I would the next game to take place like 4k years after automata, with earth having pretty developed machine lifeforms societies/ cities.

Also something i almost don't see in science fiction is androids/ robots trying to find ways to reproduce themselves not depending on factories or having androids that can grow, i mean, it could be cool if at some point the androids in the orbital bases start trying to not just be androids replicating humans but legit starting to believe they're humans (the new ones obviously), idk how possible this would be in lore, i mean at least the black boxes are made of machine cores and they're somewhat biological and they seem to be even better at developing human-like emotions and they seem to even go agaisn't their own programming if pushed too hard to their limits.

The concept of androids being able to get ''pregnant'' or developing technology to reproduce themselves in some form have always interested me because crossed that line the transhumanism kind of goes full circle.

I think this was the backfire from the project. They were using modified machine cores because it seems it was more cheaper and they though they would be less emotional than normal androids. Instead, in the prototype models they saw that this androids are even MORE emotional than normal androids. some logs talk about how insteresting that some models were agaisn't their own personality/ programming. I think that making the android-machine lifeform hybrid they made an even more ''humane'' creature.

I wonder if after this the orbital bases would try to research this further, they saw to what limits they can push the androids. It wouldn't be a surprise if after the events of the game the scientific division of the Android Army would try to ''replicate'' humans since the machine cores seem more emotionally capable.

Basically yoRHa went into a completely different direction of what they expected, but even if it failed the original purpose i can see it already as a new oportunity for experimentation in new androids. A more ''human'' and emotionally capable android of a next generation could be even more stable and combat-ready. Fuck, i already want to see the next generations of androids...

Watchers are just called angels in japanese and are basically just weapons that God uses against humanity
Angels are the minions of an Intoner (which is someone who gets infected by the Flower parasite), which as shown in drakengard 3 eventually develops into a Queen Beast (which is what threatens the world during drakengard 1; However, the queen beast in drakengard 1 is not Zero from 3 as explained in the novelization)
This is all made really confusing by the english adaptation since they changed a few names around, but I can see why they'd do it since Drakengard 1 already had a dragon called Angel
I feel Automata is a nice thematic conclusion to the series since God finally managed to wipe out humanity, but Android, Machines and even Pods gained some kind of ego and personality by the end, so life persists in some way, though I still hope it continues at least to explain exactly where Accord and the cathedral city come from

However, that timeline is largely ignored by the fanbase because they really hate drakengard 2 I think, so it doesen't really matter, even though it would explain how the machines are aware of the three eyed gemini in Nier Automata (a symbol that was specifically created by Brother One after the events of dod3)

Drakengard 3 Ending E (Novelization) -> Drakengard 1 Ending A -> Drakengard 2 Ending C -> (Almost) real world -> Caim and Angel from Ending E crash into it -> Nier (Automata wasn't out by then obviously, though it references the alien invasion from 5012 as it happened in the Nier drama CD)
For a long time the only version available was the rekka one, which has a bunch of additions by her that don't really fit, plus multiple parts missing, and she also mixed it with the dod3 complete guide timeline which is just a diagram that gets an awful lot of stuff wrong and that she also edited, which confused a lot of people for a long time

Anyway Accord is shown as existing in all timelines in drakengard 3, but since the appearence of the Cathedral City was the inciting incident of the whole series (as reinforced by Taro in his latest interview, so I guess the next game may really be about that) and that Accord came along with the Cathedral City, she had to have started from that point in the timeline, so it wouldn't make much sense for her to appear in a completely different reality as is our own world
Also as I said, the three eyed gemini was a symbol that was specifically created by Brother One when seeing himself in a mirror and thinking of his sister as stated in the Brother One short story, so it wouldn't make any sense for it to appear in the world of Automata if it really were just our own world before Caim appeared

I mean obviously just a theory but i remember hearing that Cathedral city was like a futuristic tokyo right? Personally I think Accord and the Cathedral City come from Automata's future
Accord is dressed similarly to Adam, and the way the Accords are mass produced reminds me of machine life forms (Since androids treasure individuality and would only deploy identical models at once unless there was an emergency of some sort, as per the Q&A in the Automata Strategy Guide which also mentions the Great Calamity again).
The Cathedral City looks like a modern city in ruins, not unlike the ones we see in Automata.
The Cathedral City appeared during the Great Calamity during the 800s, dragons appeared at the same time, and the most recent Automata timeline mentions "Dragon weapons" being deployed (http://imgur.com/a/RZIsU), so it may very well be a time loop, but it's all speculation at this point
Drakengard 3's DLCs also ended with a small tease of a past history that Michael had with another human he met, so the next game could be an even further prequel exploring the origins of magic and dragons.
It's also interesting to note that, as per the Mikhail DLC short story, in the world of post-ending D Drakengard 3 humans get wiped out by machines who eventually develop their own society, but it's obviously a different reality from Automata since dragons (or at least Mikhail) are still alive and humans are still there when the machines arrive

I was under the impression that the appearance of the Cathedral City (bringing with it magic, dragons, and watchers) was the singularity which split the timeline between DoD and the "real" world.

Scientists studying Angelus' Maso proved the existence and trespass of multiple worlds. The Queen Beast's Maso was removed by having the Replicants collect it for a Celebrant Android to send back to the other world. It seems likely to me that at some point investigations into the nature of the other world (if only to ascertain if any future threats may exist) and learned about the Cult that way.
Note that the three-eye symbol appears in NieR as well.

The thing that discounts the DoD2 -> NieR timeline for me is that magic is so commonplace in DoD. Such a timeline suggests that said magic, and its associated demonic element, completely disappeared and were forgotten in only 900 years or so, only for it to be rediscovered and redeveloped after dissecting Angelus. But it took 1,100 years for the world to be rid of just the Queen's maso in a deliberate worldwide effort, and Angelus' maso is still extant 8,000 years after that in Automata. And "Nowe went SSJ and scared the dragons and gods off!" doesn't explain shit, because the post-credit scene shows the shadow of a dragon passing overhead.

And yes the appearence of the Cathedral City is the first difference from our real world in the timeline, everything else before that follows the real world's history exactly
The Encyclopedia timeline implies that yes, magic gradually disappears from the world as it goes thowards the modern age, since the influence of God grows more and more insignificant, though some form of the red eye disease still exists (I guess because Manah's lineage continues in some way, the Shi Ni Itaru Aka manga explains that Brother One's lineage is the direct cause of the Red Eye disease)
I guess within the context of that timeline, the shadow of the dragon would be Caim and Angel dimension travelling, but that's just a simple way to piece them together, not really canon
The only reason why I care about it is because it went into extreme detail about information that doesen't exist anywhere else (for example, the fact that the Cathedral City turned up in the world of Drakengard during the great calamity in the 800s is something that is only mentioned within that timeline, so you can't really discard that), plus it's an 8 page document that explains what happens in years that aren't really shown in any of the games, plus it's integrated with the Grimoire Nier timeline which has been integrated in the recent Automata timeline too, and Automata has a bunch of concepts (three eyed gemini, angelic letters) which really shouldn't exist in that world if it followed up from our own world
But again you're free to believe what you want, the fanbase as a whole doesen't really care about it, I just want to archive a fully translated version of it at some point since I feel it's a more important piece of canon than people give it credit for (it was printed right along the Fire of Prometheus novella for example, which is an important piece of canon)

It's not perfect (as it gets some names wrong and is written in a way that makes it look like the church and the cult are different things when they are one and the same, church of the angels is just the japanese name for the cult of the watchers), but it shows that the abandonment of magic is a lot more gradual than "nowe defeated god and that's it":

Other details that aren't included here are that the kingdom of Sicily was founded by the remnants of the church of the angels, that the utahime and utautai (intoner and songstress concepts) influenced japanese dances, and there's more, unfortunately it all comes from various sources and there still isn't one unified translation (but again, you can check the txt in the mega archive to find what was translated already and what is missing, and it isn't much).
Dragons were never that numerous in the world of drakengard at all (during a massive war in drakengard 1 you only see two, plus one ancient dragon that only appears when the seals are broken. In Drakengard 2 you only see one, with the ancient dragons appearing with the breaking of the seals, and in Drakengard 3 you again only see two, plus an ancient one which has to be summoned from beyond by a berserk intoner as a minion/angel), so it's not hard to believe that in 1000 years they could have been genocided entirely if you consider that only a handful of them ever appeared during normal conditions within the games; I get the feeling most of them only exist "outside" of the seals and they don't have any means of natural reproduction (since they are asexual), modern weapons would only speed the process up

Another confusing thing that happens timeline wise is that Father Nier and Brother Nier stories take place in the same timeline. In Gestalt Report 11 its said that the original Gestalt relapse in 3361 which is the same time Father Nier story starts. Nier DLC aka The World of the Recycled Vessel is just a bunch of levels that are or were not used in game, it not really worth unless for lore reasons (since after you beat each level you get more of what was left of Nier mom(wife) diary before dying and get alternative costumes for the gang (samurai costumes best). DOD 3 DLC has 6 prologue stories on the sisters , 6 alternative costumes from DO1,DO2,and Nier Protagonist and Heroines (Except Nowe lol) and a bunch of remix tracks from previous games.

Being portrayed as a potential antagonist was likely intentional. It made her death and the reveal about project YoRHa that much more impacting.

It seemed under that tough exterior she was quite conflicted. She had stress-related nervous ticks, 6O mentions that she left piles of dirty laundry around, and doesn't perform self-maintenance, which is sort of like the android equivalent of insomnia.

Since she wasn't a YoRHa android, I wonder if she knew the truth about the Black Boxes and initially didn't see her subordinates as equals. That attitude may have changed as time went on, there's a particular scene in a novella where all of the Operators give her gifts to mimic Valentines Day.

I don't know if we can really know when he found out because the game is not really clear at all about when he really did piece it together. I think amnesia was probably at least one more thing to make him suspicious and lead to him finding out, but in memory thorn we know that they had already been together for months, and that he had already illegally accessed the main server multiple times at that point. Whereas in the game he has yet to access the server at all, and they haven't been together for that long.

If I had to surmise when he learned the truth for sure in the game, I'd say it was probably when he had to hack into her to clear the logic virus. There's no depiction of that actually happening, but just seems probable, since that's how he really learned the whole truth in memory thorn as well. Would also sort of explain how crazy he goes after seeing A2 kill her, since having just learned the truth not long ago would have made him want to be with 2B more than ever at that point.

Good point about hacking. It is a very similar situation to memory cage/thorn. But he for sure got his suspicions long before it and probably confirmed them there. At the same time, A2 already saw that this 9S was different from the ones before and he felt a connection with 2B right after prolog already. I suspect commander giving him intel was a really important trigger for him.

But actually, the most important thing is that 9S knew the truth before 2B's death and it made the impact even higher.

To think about it, I wish the game would be longer in general. It has so many good supporting characters, yet most of them give the impression that they are throwaways. Adam, Eve, Jackass, 6O, 21O. Well, at least the latter got some sort of conclusion, while 6O just never gets mentioned again after the virus. Heck, I'm not even sure if I've killed her or just got blew up. Then there's Devola and Popola, who suddenly became very important at the very end, yet I wasn't that attached to them to really care about their story. I'm sad to admit, but even A2's story feel kinda short. It was good with the pod and Pascal, but I think there are more things to explore with the character.
