RULES:
-There will be two teams: Peasantry and Nobility. Once you’ve made the choice you can’t go back. Both teams have a certain list of approved weapons you can check on the sign-up sheet. Not following the rules results in a disqualification (and public shaming)
-Maximum Soul Level of 80 allowed. Someone with CE open will be monitoring all players to make sure this rule and others aren't broken.
-The starting location will be High Wall, followed by Undead Settlement and ending at Lothric Castle.
-Fights are best of 3
-Each fight is 2 minutes long, the one with the most % health left at the end will win if both are alive.
-Only two Ashen Estus sips per fight, any more and your win will not count, initiating a rematch. Do this twice and you are disqualified
-All Regen items and spells are banned to disincentive passive shittery. This includes Sun Princess Ring, spells like Bountiful Sunlight, and anything infused with Blessed.
-Normal FC rules still apply such as no healing items. Fight rotation will be determined once brackets are set.
-Requirements to join: Discord and/or Steam ID for organization purposes.
If people don't respond a week prior to the tournament and they've signed up, they're disqualified

Like these bosses are just whipping around cardboard replicas and the ashen one just happens to have a severe weakness to cardboard. A lot of these things aren't explained well in-game.

Armor: Mix and match to get the best defense without chaning your roll
>Highest Defense while staying under 50% equip load (mid-roll)

When you do that, you'll see that your upgraded armor is better than everything upgraded. There are "better" armors later on, but since you will get them at no upgrade, they won't be worth using unless you upgrade them.

If you find yourself being staggered/knocked down by every little hit, equip armor for its poise stat. 20-40 poise will make a big difference in how stable you are taking hits. 40-80 poise won't make as big of a difference, but is still important.

For infusions/defense, there are only a few good ones:

>Chaos = use when you have base equip requirements and 5-10 humanity
>Normal = use for everything else. Buff with resins or spells.

DS1 and DS2 both had heavily compromised PC releases and needed a lot of patching to fix, DS1 is still broken and you need DSCM and DSfix to even play it remotely properly.

Your active poise is your base poise multiplied by your poise multiplier. If you aren't swinging a heavy weapon, your poise multiplier is zero, otherwise it'll be around 1 give or take 0.3. All normal attacks bring your base poise to 70% of the max if it is below that fraction, so if you can poise through something with 70% of your max poise, then you can always poise through it no matter what and don't have to worry about recovering. Otherwise, use a weaponart to bring it to 100% or just wait half a minute.

What matters is final AR + counter, not scaling letter. Washing pole and Chaos blade deal more total damage at min dex, and several other Katanas pull ahead if you're adding STR. It does have decent range, it's definitely a good katana, it's just the 2HR2 is really its best feature.

Katana/Warped Sword moveset *looks* like it should be super versatile, but suffers from the same problem as most of the powerstance movesets. It has extremely limited turning ability during the power stance attacks. The L1 pretty much can't turn at all. It's a shame because that's one of the builds I really wanted to make work back in DS2, along with CurvedSword/ThrustingSword powerstance and so-on. The limited turning cripples it, and in the end the simple stuff ends up being more useful.
Somehow Souls keeps coming back to Longsword, Estoc, Washing pole running attack.
