Hi. My name is Skra and this is my first build.

I started playing Dark Souls Oct 11, 2016. I wanted to role play this game as a knight for no other reason than I like the way knight armor looks. I realize that there are better defensive options. It seems to me that new players almost always tend to make a Giant Dad and I want to do something different. This build is what I have ended up with.

While learning this game, I realized that the Claymore has TWO thrust attacks: a one-handed thrust attack and a rolling two-handed thrust attack. So, whether I’m one-handing or two-handing my Claymore, the Leo Ring bonus damage would always be available to me. It occurred to me that the Leo Ring would go with my build nicely considering that I'm fast rolling in medium armor.

With Charcoal Pine Resin applied and the Leo Ring counter bonus triggered, my one-handed R2 thrust attack does 820 damage against the Cleric in the Darkroot Garden. My two-handed rolling thrust attack does 836 damage against him. The Leo Ring aside, stabbing the Cleric in the back one-handed yields 884 damage, a two-handed backstab yields 901 damage and Riposte is 1048 damage (I used the Cleric for testing because he heals himself). With the Green Blossom and the Grass Crest Shield regenerating my stamina, I rarely find myself unable to use my rolling thrust attack. It's just always there.

I've read in the forums that the contemporary quality build is 27/40 because of the two-handed bonus for strength, but I wanted to make certain that my one-handed thrust attack did as much damage as efficiently possible because the damage bonus granted by the Leo Ring is percentage based. Also, since my two-handed thrust attack requires rolling, I had to figure out a way to get my equipment burden below 25% so that I could fast roll without being too squishy because my vitality is so low.

So, my first build is finished. This is it. It's my Veteran Knight and I love it.

How is this shield? How's the smaller flamethrower? I just find it weird that no one has talked about it and I've never seen anyone use these shields ingame. Are they shit? I mean, they're potentially good but I've personally never tried them. I'm thinking about using a shield build to change things up and this might be good.

Are pure hex/dark magic builds worthwhile? By pure hex I mean I'd prefer not using any weapon other than my staff or chime.

I've never used magic in any souls game before and I'm wondering if they are good for PvP. I've seen my friend absolutely breeze through the game with magic in PvE especially on NG+ cycles where he has the best spells and equipment so I'm not too worried about that.

If you want, you can cheese the fuck outta them. Bring a long range bow, hawk ring, hit the human from the ledge you drop down to enter the fight without actually entering. He'll run over and you can kill him and the dogs. Toxic mist/storyteller staff works well for this part. Then when they are dead you have to drop down into there for the big doggo to show up. Or you could just git gud.

Huh, the WA R2 of the Ringed Knight SS doesn't seem like it does thrust damage. I was testing the WA's poise against a greatsword (the drakeblood guy) and couldn't seem to get it to counterhit ever. Regular R2's work fine.

The current "meta" weapon is the mad king's crucifix buffed with dark blade if you don't mind a bit of heresy.

I just played a caster through this week. Early game was pretty easy for me, I used a long sword mainly and used the spells to supplement. The game is balanced so that even total shitters builds can get through to the start, around irithyll it became total aids and I'm not entirely sure why and it was total suffering all the way to trc.

In future I think I'll just do some sort of quality build and respec at lvl 100.

You can be a caster, sure. But what most imply is that you're a "caster" who wields some sort of Melee Weapon that is either INT or FTH specced, with low STR/DEX requirements, and you hit shit with it prior to Rosaria while being a weak lil bitch.

What we're trying to do, is ease your burden by saying "Just take an easy path, less glass cannon, get some levels under your belt and then respec so you can actually play a Spellcaster. Not a Gish. Not a Half'n'Half."

Every single of those games aside from Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin was quite poor. Dark Souls 3 being the shitstain that puts the rest to shame. Dark Souls 3 is one of the absolute worst games I've seen. I have no idea how adults who have played a single game before it can say they liked it with a straight face. I can't even wouldn't even begin to respect the opinion of someone who said they liked it on anything again. The music was generic, the rollspam combat mechanics were awful, the enemies just attacked spam, with very little variety in design or movesets, The few bosses actually REVIVED healthbars and had no substance in fights, lore were a horrible extrinsic reason to force people to learn to read and not notice the world plain old sucking intrinsically. The cherry on top was Soul of Cinder. Oh my fucking god he was the bit that pushed the game into embarrassingly bad territory. Those final moments where he all of a sudden becomes geyn... I literally dropped my controller, pulled out my phone and started recording for about a minute to show a couple friends just how bad it was. I stood right in front of that giant mother fucker for a good 2 minutes and it just played gwyn's music. He just shot swung his sword at nothing in different directions over and over with really annoying music playing, and after I kileld him the utter nonsensical rambling of the living plot device princess firekeer vomiting bullshit harping on and on and on about darkness in a mind numbing loop. Seriously Fuck that game. Fuck anyone who liked it... I feel like I'm taking crazy pills seeing the amount of praise it gets. It makes absolutely no fucking sense. It is garbage on a tier all of its own. If you like Dark Souls III you have no standards to speak of.
