I get acknowledging that sex appeal exists in Sonic, but I don't understand how people can try to make this stuff "sexy." Like, yeah, sexuality clearly exists in the franchise itself and characters are meant to be varying levels and types of attractive, but they're all so simplistic and cute that it's hard to even imagine anything beyond hugs, kisses and embarrassment existing in the setting.

It's because many fans just don't care about the comics. Those that don't grew up with Amy's character and tend to like her, whereas those who loved the comic will gravitate to Sally.

Stuff from SatAM is still used if it can be adapted into the game setting. Sally, the Freedom Fighters, Mobotropolis, the King, Lupe, Dulcy, all of those still exist, just redesigned. Like how characters from AoStH are being used, but also redesigned to fit the game setting.

I think it's hilarious how Shadow has no explanation in the Boomverse.
