A tank. We don't have a single tank main yet, despite a bunch of Royal Guards. Or Minstrel, but Minstrel is kinda boring because you'd just be singing the same song all day everyday for DPS to spam their shits.
A dedicated Sorcerer is fine too. We had one but he dumped Sorcerer and went with Archbishop instead. Speaking of which, another Archbishop can't hurt.

To be honest? Sorcerer.
As a tank, you're either facetanking things and autoattacking, or facetanking things and spam the same 2 or 3 skills over and over.
As a sorc, you're gonna have to manage one damage buff for every physical damage dealer, manage insignia which boosts party's damage dealer's output, transfer your SP to your party member when their SP runs dry and then do damage in between all of those.
All in all, Sorc is more fun and has more things to do. But Sorc is almost entirely a party class.

Well I'd look for a game that has very specalized/grindy/difficult crafting, so you can maximize your appreciation when you can produce.
IIRC Mabinogi had a notoriously difficult and expensive crafting system to level to Mastery, but the game's pretty old so a very active guild may be a problem.
Last I played Alexina was the most populated server, and thats where the /vg/ guild was, so that may help if you'd give it a go.

Any mmos out there that resemble old runescape? I loved spending tons of time doing essentially nothing. Back before I got gud at efficiency and grindan, I'd spend a few hours making a couple dozen chocolate cakes to hand out to my friends as we'd kill hobgoblins for xp. NovaRO is a private server for RO. There are like 10 people from this thread playing right now. Tree of Savior is the "spiritual" successor to RO after Gravity fucked up with RO2. ToS is fairly fun for the first few dozens of hours.
RO is... you'll have to judge for yourself. The movement system is cell-based and it's pretty dated so it may be pretty clunky. Still tons of people playing on private servers though. NovaRO has at least 1000 players.

Effectively, you only need 2 characters. One for your main and another for your farming purpose. If your main is a

you don't even need an alt for farming, you can just farm on your main character. An exception is Sorc because Sorc can farm pretty well but you need 2 Linker alts to make a Sorc farming work properly. Each alt should take you about 15 minutes to finish preparing.
So yeah, if you're not an altoholic then you will never really need an alt.

The problem with crafting is that it is often implemented as a form of barter. You exchange some goods to some item. Maybe with a bit of randomness applies. And no player skills are required. I mean there is no need to design anything because only predefined items can be built, there is no need to actually craft because crafting does not involve any kind of minigame like typical fishing.

I unironically enjoyed Fable 2's. They just felt right. People said that it got too easy once you got in the groove and it was mind numbingly repetetive but that just seems very realistic to me based on what little manual labor I've done in my life. With a little tweaking to make it harder to bot I could appreciate this on an MMO.

I would say to play RIFT with me but I'm not even sure of end-game specifics, cap is 70 but I think you have to buy the expansion otherwise you're stuck at 65 (and no access to expansion content I am assuming) plus with Instant Adventures, you can powerlevel and not experience any content--both zones and dungeons.

I feel like what they're trying to do is futile. They want to give you ultimate player freedom without letting you infringe on someone else's freedom. You cam beat another guy to death but it won't actually kill him, just shorten his remaining life. Everything is a mystery and you need to have your character learn languages except there's a wiki and third party chats. You can capture and imprison players but they don't actually get captured or imprisoned because that's not fun, it just shortens their lifespan. We have realistic damage so you can break your arm except you can't get permanently debuffed or maimed because that's not fun so it just shortens your lifespan. No surprise that the lifespan shortening feed directly into their equivalent of a sub fee. Then they say they aren't pay to win but offer you everything from a house to a kingdom for $40 to $10k and of course the big whammy from their FAQ page.

I don't know if I'm okay with this or not, on one hand when I nearly drowned and after a bit later mauled by a bear, my character was fucking crippled in all stats and extremely in INT, meaning my character was fucking worthless for a week or two.
