Burn scars and Flamesprayer, yes, but I decided against going for a Boom Hammer and Fire Stake Driver. The Charred aspect was for the sake of his backstory, got burned in a warehouse full of whale oil and tossed into the water, while the rest of his fellow hunters got cooked inside. The idea was to give him a fear of fire, an unusual trait for hunters.

I got Demon's Souls in 2010, a year after it came out, after pining for it since its release because I didn't have a PS3. I instantly fell in love with it and played it to death. I actually moved away from the series with Dark Souls 1, which i got on release and was super unhappy with. It didn't have the same atmosphere or speed or story of Demon's Souls, so after beating the Gargoyles I left it lying for a year. When I came back I discovered the joy of PvP, and put over 1600 hours into duels alone. Dark Souls 2 was and remains the big disappointment of the series for me. The only reason for such is because of the downright AWFUL mechanics. Rolling sucks, Adaptability sucks, the movement sucks, attack animations suck, hitboxes suck, and so on and so forth. I actually adore a lot of the design choices and visuals in the game, but the poor combat mechanics means the two playthroughs I put into it will remain the only playthroughs. Then, like with Demon's Souls, I got Bloodborne a year after release because I simply couldn't justify a PS4, but with Bloodborne and Dark Souls 3, I had a reason to get one (I don't have another console and my PC is straight ass). Bloodborne I loved and still love, and is now tied or is edging Demon's Souls out for my favorite Souls game. Dark Souls 3 I enjoyed, certainly much more than Dark Souls 2, but in my opinion it lacks the soul (pardon the pun), of the other games. The other games all felt like the designers loved the game and wanted to to be good, even if it turned out not so with Dark Souls 2. Dark Souls 3, on the other hand, feels very soulless and formulaic to me, although I will say I absolutely love the Champion Gundyr bossfight. One of the highlights of the whole series for me.

I always thought that because of their enormous size and giant gaping wound they were like cattle for the Healing Church, i.e. people get fed Ebby's paleblood, they get all yuge and bloated, and then Church simply extracted their blood and distributed it amongst the citizens of Yharnam.

It's outdated. 25 is the first softcap for damage stats when it comes to weapons, and Church Pick scaling mainly with Skill means it'll really help it. The Wheel and Bloodletter are really the only Pure Str weapons in the game (aside from their Blt and Arc scaling), everything else scales a bit with Skl excluding Parasite for obvious reasons. So almost everything will get a bit out of the extra Skill especially when you're gonna use a Skill weapon on a Strength build.

The problem with Ludwig's is that it's like signing and admitting that you're reading guides instead of playing for yourself.

All guides say to use it because it is strong, and it is indeed, but you have no way o knowing it at the point you get the weapon. When you first stumble upon it, it's a weapon that costs 20k echoes (A LOT for that moment, like straight 30 minutes of farming) consumes a retarded amount of stamina (more than tricked kirkhammer), has weird ass arcs on R1 and doesn't do that well damage because it really shines with high stats and scaling. The only reason to keep using it, it's because you're following a guide and already know before hand how overpowered ludwig's is, specially on overleveled 50/50 "builds".

I say that from my personal experience. That's exactly how it felt for me, that went in completely blind not even 3 months ago. From someone who just started playing, there is no reason to use Ludwig's over Kirk besides guidereading. Kirk stuns more, has initially more damage, chains r1's easier, has shockwaves, consumes less stamina, looks cooler and it's cheap and easily obtainable.

Ludwig's is the Dark Sword of BB, you have no way to know it's good unless you are reading a guide, so it's a giant red flag.
