Didn't get into a single war, just used clever ways to get most healthcare reforms enacted in the 50s (before socialism even got unlocked, it's possible but uncommon), got lucky and got an event that would give me two stages of the safety regulations reforms (the last stage gives you +0,01% to pop growth)

Used loyalty focus to get the communists in power, so I could focus on building profitable wine, liquor, oil and fuel factories.

Got lucky later on too, as I got 3 fascist welfare events, each one gives you +0,1% pop growth for a year or so

Krakow is actually a good country for this kind of tall memery, since you get events that raise your pop militancy and consciousness massively

So far I have the first year of the first era as the year the League of the 12 Great cities was founded then, the economy grows and shit, so the League starts expanding, then there's a big war where they conquer the other Elven Kingdoms, after that they form some kind of senate where the 12 cities can gather and debate and vote on shit, after that they start building some colonies and expanding througout this world's mediterranean (what should i even name it?), and then start vassalizing some Tribal Elves and shit. Then Some islands are discovered in the south, with rare spices and shit, after that the Elves start colonizing them and soon after that they see the first Goblins of the world, of course the Goblins fuck shit up and burn all the colonies

Newfag poorfag here, I stumbled upon the concept of grand strategy games recently and got EU3:DW since it was the best combination of easy to find and download, relatively low learning curve (according to a 5 minute google search), and most importantly that I could actually run on my toaster of a laptop since I apparently can't run any incarnation of EU4. Since I've picked it up, I've played a few saves as the teutonic order, minamoto, the aztecs, brandenburg, and sweden, each lasting for around 100 years give or take. Currently on frankfurt, trying to see how far I can take them just by blitzing towards tech with an emphasis on being small and economic and avoiding other people's wars. Maybe when I have 10+ tech levels over absolutely everyone else I'll just steamroll them so that even if the emperor bitches about it, he can't stop me. Haven't decided yet.

The thing is, I haven't slept well in like 5-6 weeks. I used to get like 10 hours a night, now I wake up, open my laptop and load my save again, play for around 15-20 hours straight before I get too tired to continue, then wake up and do it again. The actual time I wake up and fall asleep varies and is dismissive, and I end up eating whenever I actually notice I'm hungry rather than on a semi-regular pattern. I don't even give any mind to my other hobbies anymore and my backlog has not only been not touched, I'm not even keeping tabs on what should go in it.

I have NEVER been sucked into a game like this before. is it just because it's a new genre for me, am I maybe a little autistic, or is this just norrmal for new people trying to overcome the learning curve? Regardless, I figure I'll lurk here for a while and hopefully absorb something useful, if only just perspective. Just from browsing this thread, it seems like this community has a decent learning curve too.

I can swallow them both so easily at the same time that it's not even tempting due to how boring it is at this point. I gain 20k units per month, so I can reinforce a mega army constantly, and my force limit is over 2500. The last war with Otto I made them give up Greece, just because I thought it was nice. The boarders I have made is what I thought looked nice, and I dislike the idea of swallowing Poland/PLC entirely because I like Poland.

As for the Asian lands, I had to fight Muscovy at the beginning (I'm actually novgorod), and SuperMing wasn't a walk in the park either when I DOWed them the first time.

Why paradox loves this shit so much? Eu3, ck2, v2 and especially eu4. Why battles last so long? Combined with travel times, it causes huge balance issues. Like for reference, the battle of waterloo lasted for around 10 hours. In eu4, i shit you not, a battle of such proportions with both sides being balanced could last for multiple months, maybe even a year. Which is especially funny when you realize that Napoleon fought that battle because he didn't want Austrian/Russian reinforcements to arrive (~2 weeks).

Only hoi games even try to have realistic battle lengths.

1. More and better and more in-depth roleplaying, they've already made it more RPG than grand strategy might as well go all DnD
