guys im new to this game and trying out izanami but what is she supposed to do vs zoner like characters or ones with lots of screen control, seems really hard to use arc exodus without getting hit by random shit like arakune's bugs or rachels anything. might just be my inexperience with the game and matchups though

The answer to Arakune is always just don't get cursed. ribcage if you think you can, but look out for C bug, it will go through ribcage.
As for other zoners, you should be able to use your drive to get in for free by launching it and dashing up since I'm pretty sure it goes through most other basic projectiles. Be careful of Rachel specifically doing that as she can Barrel Lotus and Sword Iris if you run past the rods. Once again, another option is just to put on ribcage and get closer, just remember that they can grab.

An observer is anyone who "observes" something. There are quite a few of these in BB like Kokonoe and Terumi.
Onlooker is just a really really strong observer who is usually immortal/extremely long lived and is not allowed to interfere heavily in the world or they lose their power. This status used to basically just be Rachel, but then Amane showed up and was also an Onlooker.
I haven't heard Bystander used except when Rachel or Amane go on their little stupid speech about how the world is a stage and they are just here to watch.

that's one of the bigger pros of stick, is that while inputs are slower than pad, there's much less overlap between directional inputs (and attack buttons to a lesser extent), guaranteeing more precise control over your movement inputs. stick (ha) with it, it took me about a month to fully acclimate.
