I have a theory that Alphys turned/built Mettaton into a pseudo-human.

Human Souls are heart-shaped and come in a variety of colors. Monster Souls are upside down hearts and are all white. Mettaton is originally a monster of the ghost variety, but his soul that we can see in his EX form as his heart-shaped core resembles a human soul in position and color. It's a right-side up heart, in a pink color.

I theorize that the difference between Human Souls and Monster Souls is polarity. The polarity and magical energy field of Monster Souls may be the reverse of Human Souls. Like, let's say the magic of Human Souls "spin" right, then the magic of Monster Souls would "spin" left. In addition to that, Human Souls focus on a specific trait and produce high levels of DT, with the "trait" being the source of the Soul's color, but the DT may also come into play. In Monster Souls, the "traits" are all blended together and there's no specific focus, and much lower levels of DT are produced, and thus the Souls are white rather than a specific color in the spectrum.

I think, at least in his EX form, Alphys transformed Mettaton's monster soul into a human soul. And thus, in conjuction with the fact that he now has a corporeal form that resembles a human male, Mettaton is pretty much human.

It depends on how Chara is shown.
If they are shown having fun times/be in any genuinely good spirit with Asriel/any combination of the Dreemurrs it conflicts with my headcanon and I get low-key triggered.
I also dislike when Asriel and Chara are in group shots (particularly post pacifist stuff andor Chara being there as a ghost Star Wars style) but I understand everyone wants their perfect ending.
