Yeah, Cleric lets you buy the key for 10k but BSB opens the door at the chapel which lets you access Cathedral Ward through the backstreets. Only one has to be beaten but its good to get both.

The trick in using the Whirligig against Amygdala is to use the untricked form and go for the arms. When it's in the position to be visceraled, go for the visceral or do the L2 in tricked form.

Equal leveling isn't entirely recommended, as you might spread yourself too thinly without being able to bring a good second weapon, unless you just use the LHB.
It can work fine on a 50/25 build of either Str/Skl or Skl/Str. As for Arc, I've heard the fire conversion deals stupid amounts of damage, especially when supplemented with Oil Urns.
If this is your first run, avoid this place until you're finished, trust me.

If this is your first playthrough, get out of here before you are spoiled.
If you don't plan to play online, builds don't matter much and you should level whatever you want.
Steak Dinner is a quality weapon which means that you can use STR and SKL for damage, the ARC scaling is worthless unless you want to convert the weapon to fire/bolt/arcane and in this case will stop scaling with STR and SKL and rely solely on ARC.

Spear's a fantastic weaopn, I forget how the movesets differ. Both of their transformation moves cleave ass, especially vs beasts. Spear would probably have an advantage in certain fights but I'm just so used to Cleaver.

sort of. by converting to ARC you get to use a huge variety of weapons and if you farm enough gems you can rapidly can damage types to counter the armour people are wearing

however armour really does counter ARC weapons. full choir set reduces arcane type attacks to a tickle for example. mean while pure physical weapons can take advantage of adept gems which can do enormous damage and physical damage reduction is nowhere near as good as the ARC types. so even with good blunt gear wheel is going to hurt. Then you have BLT which really does well in PvP.

Trying to come up with rules for a Bloodborne race drinking game.

Ludwig's has blunt on 2 hand R1 and L2. It has amazing poise damage in 2 hand mode as well, and a thrust attack that's one of the best charge R2s in the game. the hammer has overhead swings, some horizontal swings, and blunt charged R2 which is somewhat unique and useful. Ludwig's automatically has a more versatile moveset though because it does almost everything the kirkhammer does AND has a thrust charge R2. I like the hammer, but it doesn't really have much that Ludwig's doesn't objectively.
