A character acting stupidly/selfishly doesn't make them a poor character. I agree that her reasons were stupid. That being said, characters having moments of weakness is actually very good. Hana's major weakness in terms of character is her lack of self restraint and she pretty much speaks her mind without thinking things through. What makes her a good character is that in her supports she actively tries to improve this by admitting her faults towards the end of each support. That's why I think shes decently written.

Tobin gets excalibur at level 6, and Kliff's just not very good. Probably best as a merc or cav, except Gray's a better merc, and Matilda handily outclasses him as a cav.

Tobin's a good unit stat wise; if you think making him an archer fits him best, fine, but don't make him an archer because he's a bad unit who can only work as an archer.

You know for how much the marketing and promotional material likes to depict Azura with the Blessed Lance not only is it not exclusive to her, if she wields it she loses -3 DEF and I shouldnt have to explain why thats bad for her, and even though she also has it in her Heroes art they give her a Sapphire Lance instead so her art blatantly contradicts the weapon she's using in the game

As someone who hasn't played SoV, that's a very surprising analysis. In Gaiden, Kliff was an overall superior archer and mage compared to Tobin, despite a weaker earlygame. Tobin was a solid archer and mage early on (great base speed, early excalibur) but would ultimately end up replaced. And Gray was strictly inferior to the others and was therefore the best choice as mercenary, despite being a slightly worse mercenary.

I'm interested in whether you agree about Gaiden, and why you think Kliff isn't good in the remake. I see his excalibur is delayed and his growths weren't buffed as much as others but he still looks solid.

It's Gaiden but really pretty. If you hated Gaiden's map layouts the bells and whistles probably won't do much for you.

Music score's on point, the new engine vastly streamlines gameplay, there's a lot of additional world building and story to build on the basic shit from the Famicon game. Voice acting is... okay, but nothing to really jack your nuts off to.

At the end of the day, it embraces the RPG side of things a lot more than Awakening's wishy-washy deal, so I could forgive it more for its seemingly similar approach.

They buffed Tobin a lot and nerfed Kliff too, because it was like that in Gaiden. Although I have heard Tobin wasn't that bad in the original, and Kliff was always overhyped. Never played it though.

But in Echoes, its just that his base speed even as a mage means he gets doubled early, and you need to baby him to get him levels, and he doesn't really start putting out till 9, which is pretty late. Tobin has enough speed that he's doubling early and gets excalibur early.

Kliff serves well enough once you get him leveled, but at that point, why not use Luthier or Delthea?
