I bet since the dub is the biggest ever, so was the licensing of it. And PQube saw how the game looked and played out in Japan, decided to do the European localisation as cheaply as possible. Even the trailer for Europe was the same as xseed one, spoken in english and everything.

You do have to be somewhat creative when you're localising things. Direct translations are not the beat way to go, though personally I can handle those just as fine as anything else. And to why people like these are on these jobs, it's a job that pays money for your work, something that isn't always a sure thing if you're in the market as an artist.

And they legitimately think they're sometimes improving the product when they do their localisation, just see what vic Ireland always talks.

Creativity absolutely does matter. Some things just can't be translated literally and still carry the same meaning

For example with Gotta Protectors sorry 3ds game don't hate me, just a super easy example

Otherwise you're always getting a variation on the original text no matter how well the translation was done.

Not really linked to that case but more as a PR thing, KT Europes twitter really took a nosedive after the previous person left.
