Really liking this mod someone from NeoGAF tried out.

I think Akuma is more or less okay.

He needs his regular demon flips to be buffed in their trajectory and speed (they don't reach really far, even when you do the heavy version it doesn't even reach mid-screen), which it's the reason why people are relying on the Demon Palm follow-up (makes it up for the weird trajectories and speed with a move with a decent hitbox and good frame-data).

Also I would give him back-jump air fireballs again. That's pretty much it.

I feel like most of the strategy of fightan games is in the character-select screen, choosing a character because of their certain strengths/weaknesses and counter-picking based on the match-up. The only examples of critical thinking mid-match I can think of are conditioning your enemy into certain sorts of behaviour, and then catching your opponent off-guard. Perhaps choosing the correct combos for a situation (corner carry combo, corner combo, counter-hit starter combo) counts as critical thinking.

I really liked the marvel games (talking about mvc2 an umvc3) because of the element of team composition, which requires analyzing characters for strengths/weaknesses and choosing the best role for the character. Also there is lots of combo variation, as I mentioned above, but also accommodating combos for when you hit enemy assist characters. It always amused me that 4chan people shit on marvel as a low IQ game, but I would argue marvel requires more strategy and critical thinking than SFV for example. Unfortunately, high level marvel does have a lot of degeneracy that maybe spoils the fun, and maybe it all just boils down to picking top-tiers.

She was pretty fun in IV. Her kick releases were pretty fun because she had to sacrifice some buttons in order to get those charges.

Doing release combos was so satisfying in that game. Also her Feng Shui Engine allowed her to go crazy while still keeping the charge/release game.
