Does anything meaningful change in PVE in DaS3 NG+? The wiki says it only alters enemy health/damage and item placement, which sounds boring as fuck because in DaS2 it changed the enemies you would encounter to make it harder, does DaS3 NG+ do anything like that?

It doesn't even alter item placement, it just adds +1 and +2 rings to random places around the world. Besides enemy HP and damage scaling up, and soul rewards and soul packet pickups being larger, that's literally it.

So I finished the game + DLC and forgot to ever send Greirat to Irithyll. I sent him to scavenge just now, and now he's gone from Firelink.

His body isn't in Irithyll OR Lothric, and reloading does nothing.

So I just started out playing the souls series. (starting with DeS) and the game just forced to die. ( Giant demon punching me) is the whole game going to be like this? Because if so I'm not even going to bother. Forced deaths are "challenging" is this gimmick how they're known for being hard?

DS plays just fine without joy sticks, you never have to move in more than one direction at a time anyway. DS only needs 2 inputs at a time (action + direction). Having joysticks just makes it easier.

Worst case scenario, remap your controls through some third party software so that the steam controller is more comfy. They should have allowed controller remapping though from the start.

Really though, there's only one true forced death in DeS, and that was it. You were 'supposed' to die to the first bossfight. Since you didn't you got a glimpse of a very lategame boss, and an instakill in a cutscene for your trouble.

DeS is the oldest and probably the "clunkiest" so remember that if you get frustrated. It's still a really good game, though DS1 would have been a better introduction to the series imo.

How the fuck would you think that the rest of the game is ''like this''. There's only 2 forced deaths in the franchise and both are necessary parts of the story to progress forward. You can go through the whole game without having to die.

The games are not really that hard, but if you make mistakes you are very badly punished, with DeS being the most punishing in the franchise. It's both the easiest AND the hardest game in the franchise depending on how aware you are of the game mechanics.

The difficulty gimmick for each game is a little different, but for DeS, the main reason it's so hard is because of World Tendency.

>if you die while human, the game gets harder (enemies do more damage) but you get more rewards.
>If you beat a boss, the game gets easier, but you get less rewards.

So you can see how players can dig themselves into holes of difficulty by being punished for dying so much.

Other things about DeS that are punishing:
>in order to heal or restore spell uses, you need to kill enemies. You can't heal or cast spells without first killing enemies.
>game progression goes 1-1 > 2-1 > 3-1, not 1-1 > 1-2 > 1-3, so trying to complete one world causes difficulty to spike REALLY fast
>You only get ONE copy of upgrade materials for each upgrade path, and beyond that you have to do massive amounts of grinding.

So don't think of souls as -hard-, think of it as -punishing-. The game can be made extremely easy if you understand the mechanics and how to abuse them, but if you go in blindly.

DS3 is probably the least punishing and most accessible. There are few areas that really spike the difficulty or require preparation to get around.
DS1 is the next punishing, but that's only because you have access to harder areas early on.
DS2 is fairly heavily punishing, but most of the game is optional and it gives you the most exploration and customization options
DeS is the most punishing, but has the most broken mechanics (magic and miracles espeically) and easiest bosses, so you can become OP fairly quick.
