The gravitas of his "betrayal" is minimized by the fact that he's a victim and a perpetrator, but the PT seems to lean more towards him being a victim. Which I can empathize with even if it seems to be unrealistic, but so is having a 14/15 year old broken child kill political enemies for his father. That's Atlus for you.

It's honestly sad how fucking pointless a couple of the Links are. Iwai is absolutely worthless on NG+ since your equipment carries over and each gun only gets upgraded once (assuming you even upgrade it since some of the customizes are sidegrades at best or downgrades at worst). Ohya is literally only useful if you're shit at one of the core mechanics of the game. Yoshida after Rank 2 can make it harder to milk enemies for cash easily.

The party members aren't excluded from this, either. Ryuji's insta-kill actually HINDERS your ability to make money and get EXP lategame since triggering Insta-Kill only gives you masks and nothing else. Ann's abilities are fucking useless since hostage situations are so rare and you'll probably drop her until she gets Concentrate anyway, by which point the abilities are trash. Makoto's abilities are only for people that don't take the half a second to Analyze everything in the battle. Yusuke is varying degrees of usefulness since you can usually get dupes of most skill cards anyway (except shit like DLC cards or Network Fusions). Only Haru, Morgana, and Futaba are useful to rank up in every playthrough, and one of those is a plot rank-up.

Also what the fuck is with Ryuji's Rank 10 item giving him fucking Harisen Recovery of all things? And why the hell do I have to wait until I re-acquire the Confidant in NG+ in order to use the Rank 10 item's abilities?

At least in the other cases there's other shit in the way that would make you reconsider (usually lack of information or Ryuji point-blank telling you that it's not your problem and the P-Thieves should butt out). That's what I found most irritating, in P3 and P4 there were definite friendships developing or already existing between characters but in P5 they all seem to be free agents that stick around because super powers of justice

I thought his own inner angst over whether or not he could live a normal life as a Shadow was pretty good, and when he's first getting you introduced to TV World stuff he's pretty cool. I mean, he does that shit in the game too, but it's a lot less worse than it could be.
