fririn's list is probably the most popular but there's no definite list. As for teching, just use tripple Swing/Unica/Grimnir to disrupt the early game and try to go on the aggressive and finish the game with Storm, you can't win a dragged out fight against Shadow unless you are Dragon so don't bother playing ward.

His list is mediocore and unpolished. The only good thing is lurching + conversion combo. You don't need single urd, thane, also 2 lurching corpses might be enough. Instead he could've added a few 1 drops and have much better early game. In his list he doesn't have a lot of targets for soul conversion, so sometimes he's forced to kill useful 2pp followers. It's like he's too scared of dragon, to the point of sacrificing early game just to add a few more tools against dragon. Any other midrange shadow list would be superior, It's even worse when he's in mirror match, goes second and doesn't have 1pp drop.

As I said, it's up to you. The core of the deck is so strong that almost anything can work, and the deck is flexible enough that you can include of tech choice. Even fririn himself said there's no strongest list even after testing out 48 variants, so just play whatever you are most comfortable with.

I believe that you all misunderstand the balancing of card games.
Decks are always impossibly hard to balance in card games because of how open-ended the system is. There are always archetypes that one could miss like OTK Aggro Roach. Instead, decks are balanced out by the increase of decks that counter them. For example, in early RoB, Aggro Blood and Daria were dominating decks. This gave rise to the counters to them like CBlood and Sahaluci. And again, these are countered by Aggro Roach. Thus, the winrates of the decks in these chain are regulated by the popularity of each of the deck archetypes, keeping them all close to 50% in an open format.
I believe it is the same for TotG Dragon and Shadow. We just need the current meta to mature. I'm sure Midrange Shadow will eventually stabilize at 50% winrate. If everyone plays midshadow, it will always be 50%.

Yes, i was talking about this. You don't run out of steam with soul convertions and follower generators anyway, just try it. The deck consists mostly of 1-2-3 drops anyway, adding high cost thanes doesn't necessarily make it better, even if it looks more midrange'ish to you. Sometimes low pp followers like lurching corpse are just better than high cost dance of death for 5pp.

Meta didn't really change match, We just lost aegis haven as a legit "strong" deck in ladder, now it's only shadow or dragon for the most part. Still i don't see how his adjustments helps against mirrors. If you want to make your deck better according to meta you should tech against shadow more, like i saw a deck with necroelementists, makes more sense. Personally i like bone chimera over that or grimnir.

That's my opinion cause lurching is basically tech card against dragon. Don't forget that you can't just attack any follower with them. Besides without wards on the field or soul convertions in hand this card becomes useless cause you can't activate last words. People tend to ignore it oftenly and evolving doesn't always help, generally you want to trade, not just evolve lurching and go face.

Already replied why. With 1 pp followers you can still use convertions outside of lurching corpse and get good value. Attack with 1pp card, sacrifice it with soul conversion, get shadow and 2 cards, that is nice value. I just don't see a lot of synergy with soul convertions, 1pp followers help and make your early stage stronger. Somehow u think that only aggro can run 5-6 1pp followers, that's a mistake. The line between aggro and midrange shadow's thing atm. What makes it midrange? Just a few cards like death's breath, eachtar. Even some aggro shadow variants had 7pp followers in the early rob, it was okay. As long as you have cards to play and gain lots of shadows 1pp never hurts, it helps you be ready for 4th turn with your charged soulsquasher, 6 turn with death's breath and 7 with eachtar. Without 1pp you have less shadows and have to use shitty 2pp like spartoi instead of lyrial for smart trades or unica against mirrors.

The funny part is you can run good number of 1pp followers, all your necessary bone chimeras and other cards that make your list midrange. you have to look from the other side as well, i.e. what you draw with conversion. the point it is to dig into your deck. and you want to dig for quality cards, not more 1pps.

also you can use conversion on bone, lurching and the occasional catacomb skellies. that's 9 possible good targets.
on the other hand, using a conversion on a con skellied goblin is just a tempo loss and nothing else.

If your don't have bone chimera you're in trouble cause other followers can be easily removed and you don't have enough board presence for maximum value catacomb. It would also allow them to be more liberal with what they change. They won't have to give out free vials for any change they make because it's not changed, it's just banned or limited for a time, akin to how roost is currently unavailable.

Good news is that'd enable a different breed of DShift that's very very focused (Tutors grabbing 100% Dshift, very cost efficient cards spellboost like sorcery caches to get turn 5-6 Dshifts with Cheated Ginger)
